6 Section 1 Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provide d with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, su ch as yo ur PIN or any optional services available.
Section 1: Getting Started 7 Activating Y our Phone Section 1 2. Slide the SIM card into the SI M card socket so that the card socket, as shown, so that the card locks into position. Make sure the gold colo red contacts of the card face into the phone.

In Idle mode, pr ess the Names soft key . Y ou can also press the Menu soft key to access menu mode and select Address Book .

62 Section 6 Paste: allows you to paste the number into the normal dialing mode. Use this option to dial a number similar to one in the Address Book, such as a di ffer ent e xtension in the same office . Use the key to change the number as requir ed. When you are r eady to dial, press the key .

68 Section 7 Using Instant Messenger Instant Messenger (I M) is a way of sending short, simple messages that are deliver ed immediately to us ers online at the moment. Before using this feat ur e, you need to subscribe to a messenger service. Fo r fu rther details, contact our service prov ider .

When you want to end the con versation, press th e Options soft key and select Sign Off . Buddy List Group The first time you sign on to AIM from your phone, a special Buddy Lis t group is cr eated.

Section 7: Messaging 81 Retrieving New Messages Section 7 Retrieving New Messages While text mes sages from other phones ar e deliver ed directly to your phone, Multimedia mes sages and Emails will be stor ed in the Inbox of the message server and the server will alert you to new messages.
82 Section 7 Retrieving an Email When a new Email comes in, the display shows the Email icon ( ) and a text notification. 1. Press the Vi ew soft key or the key to view Email information. 2. Press the Options soft key and select Retrieve . Y our phone retrieve s the new Emails from the ser ver and displays them on the In box list.

Y ou can then use the items when writing a message. Protection : allows you to lock the message keeping it from being deleted or unlocks th e message.

88 Section 7 Deleting a Message Folder 1. In Idle mode, pr ess the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Select Messaging . Highlight My Messages and select the My Folders . The message list opens. 3. Scroll to the folder you wa nt to delet e. 4. Press the Options soft key and select Delete Folder .

Section 7: Messaging 91 Settings Section 7 Auto Download : you can set whether or not your ph one retrieve s new incoming message s fr om the Multimed ia server without notifications. Off: you need to manually download new messages by using the Retrieve o ption.
92 Section 7 Account : Y ou can configur e up to 5 Email accou nts using differ ent service pr oviders. The last account you accessed is automatically ac tivated for sending or receiving Email messages. For each account, the foll owing options are available: • Account Name : enter a name for the current account.
Section 7: Messaging 93 Settings Section 7 Send Copy to Self: you can set whether or not your phone sends a copy of the outgoing Email to your Email addr ess. Delivery Report: you can activa te or deactivate the report function. When this function is activated, the network informs you whether or not your Email has been deliver ed.
94 Section 7 Receive : allows you t o enable or disable the r eception of broadca st messages. Channel List : allows you to indicate the channels from which you wish to r eceive broadcast messages. The following options are available: • Select: use to enable or disable channels on the list by marking or unmarking them, respectively.
Section 7: Messaging 95 Memory Status Section 7 in the memory and the total number o f messages you have stored. For Multimedia Message , Email , and Push Message the displays show th e total memory amount, including the amount of memor y a vailable and used for storing messages.

Section 8 98 Sound Settings Y ou can customize the settings related to various sounds for the phone, such as the call ringer , key tone, power on/ off to ne, slider tone , and so on. 1. In Idle mode, pr ess the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Select S ettings .
Section 8: Changing Y our Settings 99 Sound Settings Section 8 Light Only : the service light flashes. Melody : the phone rings using the ring melody selected in the Ring T one menu. V ibration : the phone vibrates but does not ring. V ibration + Melody : the phone first vibrates three times and then starts ringing.
