Your Phone 11 Key (s) Description In Menu mode, scroll through the menu options and Phonebook. In Idle mode, allow you to access your favourite menu options directly . For more informatio n about shortcuts, see page 154. When entering text, move the cursor to the left and right respe ctively .
Your Phone 12 Ends a call. Also switches the phone on and off wh en held down. In Menu mode, cancels your input and returns to Idle mode. In Idle mode, accesses y our voice mail when he ld do wn. Enter numbers, letters and some special characters. Enter special characters.
Your Phone 13 Display Display Layout The display has three areas: Area Descriptio n First line Displays various ico ns. See page 14. Middle lines Display messages, instructions and any information that you enter , such as the number you are dialling. Last line Shows the current functions assigned to the two soft k e ys.
Your Phone 14 Icons Icon Description Shows the received sig nal strength. The greater the number of bars, the stronger the signal. Appears when you set an alarm to ring at a specified time. Appears when the IrDA port is activ e. For details, see page 144.
Your Phone 15 Backlight The backlig ht illuminates the display and the keypad. Wh en you pre ss any key or o pen the f older , the backlight turns o n and remains on for a g i ven period of time, depending on y our setting in the Back light menu. When no keys are pressed, the display turns off after one minute to conserve your battery power .
Your Phone 16 External Display Y our phone has an external display on the folder . It indicates when you hav e an incoming call or message. It also alerts you at the specified time when you have set an a larm by di splaying t he corresponding icon.
Your Phone 17 Camera T h e c a m e ra o n t h e f o l d e r a l l o w s y o u t o t a k e a p h o t o or record a video while on the move. For further details about the Came ra featu re, see page 92.
18 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in S I M card loaded with y our subscription details, such as your PIN, an y optional services av ailable, and so on.
Getting Started 19 3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM ca rd socket, as shown, so that it locks the card into position. Make sure the gold coloured contacts of the card face into the phone. Note : When you need to remov e the SIM card, slide it upw ard, as sho wn, and take it ou t of the sock et.
Getting Started 20 5. Press the battery until it c licks into place. Make sure that the battery is properly instal led before switching the power o n. Charging the Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery . A trav el adapter comes with y our phone for charging the battery .
Getting Started 21 2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC w all outlet. 3. When charging is finished, unplug the adapter from the power outlet and disconnect it from the phone by pressing t he bu ttons o n both sides of the connector and pulling the connector out.
Getting Started 22 Switching On or Off the Phone 1. Open the folder . 2. Press and hold the key until the phone switches on. 3. If the phone asks you to enter a passw ord, enter the password and press the Ok soft key or key . The phone password is preset to “00000000” at the fac tory .
23 Call Functions Making a Call When the idle scre en displays, enter the area code and phone number , then press the key . Note : When you activ at e the Auto redial optio n in the Extra sett ings menu , th e ph one automatically redials up to ten times if the person does not answer the call or is already on the phone.
Call Functions 24 Ending a Call When you want to end your call , brief ly pre ss the key or close the folder . Redialling t he Last Number The phone stores the numbers you’ve dialled, received, or missed if the caller is identi fied. See “Call records” on page 118 for further details.
Call Functions 25 Making a Call from Phoneboo k Y ou can store phone numbers that you use regularly in the SIM card or in the phone ’s m emory , which are collectively called Phonebook.
Call Functions 26 Answering a Ca ll When somebo dy calls you, the phone rings and displays the incomi ng call image. When the caller can be identified, the call er’s phone number or name, if stored i n your Phonebook, displays . 1. If neces sary , open the fold er .
Call Functions 27 Viewing Missed Calls When you are unable to answ er a call for any reason, you can find out who is calling you so that you can call the person back. The number of calls you missed displa ys on the idle screen immediately aft e r a call is missed.
Call Functions 28 Deleting a Missed Call 1. Press the Options soft key or key . 2. If necessary , press the Up or Down k ey to highlight the Delete option. 3. Press the Select soft k ey or k ey . Y ou can press the key at any ti me to exit the Missed Call feature.
Call Functions 29 Quickly Switching to Sile nt Mode Silent mode is convenient when y ou wish to stop the phone from making noise, in a theatre for example. In Idle mode, press and hold the key until the “Silent mode” message and the Vibration icon ( ) display .
30 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow you to customise it. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed using the two soft keys marked and . Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.
Selecting Fun ctions and Options 31 In each main menu, one of the most popu lar sub menus is assigned to the left soft ke y for example, if you select the Sound settings menu, Ringtone is ass igned to the lef t soft k ey . Th is allows you to quickly access the most popular menus.

33 Phonebook Y ou can store phone numbers and the ir corresponding names in both your SIM card and your phone’ s memory . They are physically separ ate, but are used as a single entity , called Phonebook. Note : Depending on the manufacture of your SIM card, the maxim um number of pho ne numbers the SIM card can store may dif fer .

Phonebook 36 Using Phonebook Entry Options While accessing an y Phonebook entry , press the Options soft key to access the options for the entry . The following options are availab le: Photo caller ID.
Phonebook 37 Copy : allows you to copy the numb e r to another location. Y ou can select the memory and the location number . Paste : allows you to paste the number into the normal dialling mode. Use this option to dial a number similar to one in Phonebo ok, such as a different extension in the same office.
Phonebook 38 Dialling a Number from Phonebook Once you have stored phone numbers in Phonebook, you can dial t hem easily and quickly by using the location num bers that were assig ned to them in Phonebook. Dialling a Numb er from the SIM Card 1. In Idle mode, enter the location number of the number you want to dial and press the key .
Phonebook 39 Speed Dialling Y ou can assign up to eight phone numbers from Phonebook that you use most frequently to the number keys ( 2 to 9 ), and then dial them eas ily whenever you w ant, simply by pressing and holding the associated number k ey .
Phonebook 40 • Delete : allows y ou to clear the setting so that no number is assigned to the key . • Delete all : allows y ou to clear the setti ngs for all keys so that no numbers a re assigned to any of the keys . • Number : allows you to view the number assigned to the key .

Phonebook 45 Using the Service Dialling Num bers Y ou can view the list of Service Dialli ng Numbers (SDN) assi gned by your ne twork provi der . These numbers include emerge ncy numbers, directory enquiries, an d voice ma il numbers. 1. When the idle screen displays, press the Phonebook soft key .
46 Entering Text When using your phone, you w i ll often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in Phonebook, creating your p e rsonal greeting, or scheduling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’ s keypad.
Entering Text 47 Changing the Text Input Mode When you are in a field that allows characters to be entered, you will notice the tex t input mode indicator on the display . Example : Writing a text message N ote : Additional text input modes may be av ailable, depending on your country .
Entering Text 48 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictive text inp ut mode that allows yo u to key in an y character using single keystrok es. This text input mode is based on a built -in dictiona ry . T o enter a word in T9 m ode: 1. When you are in T9 mode, start entering a word by pressing the 2 to 9 keys.
Entering Text 49 T o add a new word into the T9 dictionary: 1. After pressing the k eys corresponding to the word you want to add, press the 0 or Do wn k ey to display the alternative words. 2. When there are no more alternative words, t he display shows Add on the bottom line.
Entering Text 50 Using Alphabet Mode Use the 1 to 0 keys to enter yo ur text. 1. Press the keys labe lled with the letter you w ant: - Once for t he first lette r - T wice for the second letter - And so on 2. Select t he other letters i n the same way .
Entering Text 51 • T o insert a space, press the key . • T o shift the case in Al phabet mode, use the key . There are three case s; Initi al capital ( ), Capital lock ( ), and Lower case ( ). • Y ou can mov e the cursor using the Left and Right keys.
52 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of co ntrol functions that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current cal l on hold whenever you want. Y ou can mak e another call while you have a call in progress if your network sup ports this service.
Options During a Call 53 When you have an activ e call and a call on hold, you may switch between the two calls, changing the one on hold to active and placing the other on hold.
Options During a Call 54 Switching the Mic rophone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’ s microph one off s o that th e other per son on the phone cannot hear you. Example : Y ou wish to say something to another person in the room but do not want the person on the phone to hear you.
Options During a Call 55 Muting and Sending DT MF Tones The Mute keys and Send keys options allow y ou to turn off or on the k ey tones. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phon e does not transmit the DTMF (Dual T one Multi-Frequency) tones of the keys, which allows you to press keys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.
Options During a Call 56 Searching for a Number in Phonebook Y ou can search for a number in Phonebook during a call. 1. Press the Options soft key o r key . 2. Press the Down key to highlight the Phonebook option. 3. Press the Ok soft key or key . The Phonebo ok entries are listed.
Options During a Call 57 Call Waiting Y ou can answer an incoming cal l while you have a call in progress, if your network sup ports this service and you have set the Call waiting menu to Activate ; see page 14 0. Y ou are not ified of an incoming call by a call w aiting tone .

60 Using the Menus The phone offers a rang e of functions that allow you to tailor it to your needs. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus. The menus and sub-menus can be accessed by scroll ing us ing the Navig ation keys or by using the shortcuts.
Using the Menu s 61 Using Shortcuts Menu items, such as menus, sub-menus, and options, can be accessed quickly by using their shortcut numbers. F or the main menus, you can access any one of them by pressi ng the number keys ( 1 to 9 ) corresponding to their location on the screen.

67 Messages Using the Messages menu, you can use v arious message features, such as: • short text messages • multimedia mes sages •W A P p u s h m e s s a g e s •v o i c e m a i l • cell broadcast messages Text messag es Short Message Service (SMS) allows you to sen d and receive short text me ssages to and from other GSM mobile phones.
Messages 68 Create In this menu, you can w rite and send a text message. Note : When you add media objec ts to the message, the number of char acters you can enter decreases. Creating a Simple Tex t Message 1. Create your message. Note : For further details about how to enter characters, see page 46.
Messages 69 4. If you select a save option, choose the mem o ry location and press the Ok soft k ey or key . 5. Enter a destination number and press the Ok soft key o r key . The message is sent. Note : When the phone fails t o send the message, i t asks yo u if you want t o ret ry .
Messages 70 • Add templa tes : allows you to apply one of the preset message templat es to the text. Select one of five messages stored in the Templates box. For furt her details, see page 73. • Add from p honeboo k : allows you to add a Phonebook entry to your message.

Messages 73 Templates Using this menu, you can preset a maximum of five messages that you use most frequently . Select an empty locatio n or the message tem plate you want and pr ess t he Options soft k ey or key . The following options are availab le: Edit : allows you to write a new message or edit the message.
Messages 74 Setting x (where x is the setting group number): each group has its own sub-m enu. Setting name : allows you to giv e a name to the setting group current ly being defined. Service centre : allows you to s tore or change the number of your message centre, which is required when sending messages.
Messages 75 Character support : allows you to choose a char acter type from GSM-alphabet , Uni-code , or Autom atic . If you select Uni-c ode and your recipient’ s phone does not support it, y our recipient may not be able to read y our message. Multimedia messages This menu allows you to use the Multimedia Message Service.
Messages 76 Create This me nu allows yo u to crea te a ne w multimedia message and then send it to m ultiple destinat ions. Creating and Sending a M ultimedia Messag e 1. Enter the subject of your message and press the Next soft k ey or key . For further d e tails about how to enter characters, see p age 46.
Messages 77 • Save : saves t he message in the Draft or Templates box for later use. Fo r further details, see page 84. • Settings : allows you to change the message settings. F or further details about each setting option, see page 85. After changing the settings, you need to press the soft key or C key to go back to the Options screen.
Messages 78 • Add page : allows you t o add up to five pages. After you add a page, the di splay shows you the current page number and memory space used for the page. Y ou can move to each page using the Left or Righ t key on the messag e screen. • Delete : deletes the item from y our message.

Messages 80 Inbox Viewing a Message W hen You Receive it When a new multimedia mess age comes in, the display shows the MM S Message icon ( ) and a text notification along with the message subject. 1. Press the View soft key or key to view brief information about the message, such as the sender’s number , the message size and the subject.
Messages 81 Viewing a Received Me ssage in the Inbox When you access the Inbox menu, the list of multimed ia messages yo u received displa ys with the senders’ phone numbers, if they are available in your Phonebook, or subjects. The icons on the left tell you the status of the messages: • : Messages that ha ve been opened.
Messages 82 While viewing a message, you can choose the Message options by pressing the Options soft key or key . If you are viewing a new message, the options are the same as when yo u view a message as soon as you receive it.
Messages 83 Outbox When yo u access this menu, the list of the multimedia mess ages you sent or saved disp lays. Messages 84 While viewing a message, you can choose the foll owing opt ions by pr essin g the Optio ns soft k ey or key: Delete : deletes the message. Save address : allows yo u to extract the destination numbers or e-mail addresses and URL, e-mail addresses, or pho ne numbers from the message text .

Messages 86 Off when roaming : the phone automaticall y downloads new messages unless you are roam ing on another network or in another country . Message acceptanc e : you can specify the category of messages y ou want to receive. Hide ID : when thi s option is enabled, your phone number does not displa y on the recipient’s phone.
Messages 87 MMS profile In this menu, you can configure v arious network settings that are required when you send or receive multimed ia messages. Notes : • The last profile you accessed is a utomatically activated for sending messages.
Messages 88 Push messages In this menu, you can receiv e and access web messages from the server . The following options are availab le: Inbox : allows you to read the messages receiv ed from the w eb server . Receive : allows you to set whether or not your phone receives w eb messages.
Messages 89 4. When a confirmation message display s, press the Yes soft key or key to confirm. 5. When the display confirms again, press the Yes soft key o r key . Voice mail This menu allow s you to access your voice mail box, if your network supports this service.
Messages 90 Broadcast messages This network service allows you to receive text messages on v arious topics, such as the weather or traffic. Cell Broadcast (CB) messages display as soon as they are received, provided that: • the ph one is in Idle mode.
Messages 91 Delete : use to remove a channel from the list. Edit : use to change the ID and title of an e xisting channel. Language : allows you to select your preferred language to display cell broadcast me ssages. Please contact your service provid er f or further details.
92 Camera Using the camera module in y our phone, you can take photos of people or ev ents while on the mo ve. Additionally , you can send photos to other people in a multimedia message or set a wallpaper or caller ID image. Y ou can also record videos using y o ur phone as a camcorder .
Camera 93 Taking a Photo with th e Folder Open 1. Accessing the Take photos menu turns the camera on. The im age to be captured appears on the display . Y ou can also press and hold the Camera ( ) key in Idle mode to turn on the c amera. 2. Adjust the image by aiming the camera at the subject.
Camera 94 Using the Camera options In Capture mode, you can use v arious options for the camera by pressing the left soft k ey . The following options are availab le: Effects : allows you to change the colour tone or apply special effects to the photo.
Camera 95 Self timer : allows you to have a de lay time before the camera takes the photo. Select the leng th of time you want. When y ou press the key or Camer a key , the camera takes the photo after the specified time . Settings : allows you to change the image settings.
Camera 96 My photos This menu allows you to review your photo s. When yo u access this menu, yo ur phone displays the photos in Thumbnail mo de, which shows them as small imag es. Use the Navigation ke ys to scroll through the photos. T o view the photos on the ful l screen, press the key .
Camera 97 Video Y ou can record a video using y our phone as a camcorder . Record Y ou can record up to five v ideos. 1. When the cam era turns on, adjust the image by aiming the camera at the subjec t. • Press the right soft key to turn on or off the flashlight.
Camera 98 Video clips When you access this menu, the thumbnail images of your videos displa y . T o play a video: 1. Press the Navigation k eys to scroll to the vide o you want to review .
Camera 99 Memory status Y ou can check the amount of the memory being used and the remainin g memory in the camera. Each time you press the Up or Dow n key , the display shows the tot al, used, and free space for photos and videos.
100 Sound settings Y ou can use the Sound Settings feature to customise v arious settings, such as the: • ring me lody , volume, and type. • sounds made when you press a key , receive a message, open/close the folder , or switch your phone on/off .
Sound setting s 101 Alert type This menu allows you to specify how y ou are to be informed of incoming calls or alarms you set. The following options are availab le: Light only : the service lig ht flashes; the phone neither rings nor vibrates. Melody : the phone rings using the selected ring tone or alarm melody .
Sound setti ngs 102 Message tone This menu allows you to select how the phone informs you that a new message has been receiv ed. SMS tone The following options are availab le for alerting you to new SMS message s: Off : the phone does not use an SMS tone.
Sound setting s 103 MMS tone The following options are availab le for alerting you to new multimedia messag es: Off : the phone does not use an MMS tone. Light only : the service lig ht flashes. Vibration : the phone vibrates. Single beep : the phone beep s once.
Sound setti ngs 104 Alert on call This menu allows you to set whether or not the phone informs you when you receive a new message or when the alarm time expires during a call. Off : the phone alerts you after ending a call. On : the phone alerts you during a call.
105 Funbox The Funbox menu contains several fun options. WAP browser Y our phone is equipped with a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser to allow you to acc e ss and navigate the Wireless W eb using your phone. Home Selecting this menu connects the phone to the network and loads the homepage of the Wireless W eb service provider .
