3 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes how to start using your phone by activating your ser vice and setting up your voice mail. Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, a plug-in SIM card is provided loaded with your subscrip tion details, such as your PIN and other option al services.
Getting Started 4 Make sure the gold c ontacts of th e card face into the phone, then slide the SIM card into t he socket. Re mo ving the SIM Card T o remove the SIM ca rd, sl ide it away from sock et. See the following illustration. Inst alli ng the Batter y 1.
5 Note: Y ou must full y charge the battery before using your phone for the first time. A fully discharged battery requires up to 4 hours of charge time. Note: For connection to an electrical supply not located in th e U.S., you must use an adaptor of the proper configuration for the power outlet.
Getting Started 6 Po wering On o r Off the Phone 1. Open the phone. Pre ss and hold the key until the phone power -on screen displays. 2. If the phone as ks you to enter a pa ssword, enter a password and press the OK soft key or the key . (For more information, refer to “Change Phone P assword” on page 54.
7 Changi ng the Voice Mail Number Y our SIM card gives yo u default ser vic e number of t he voice ma il center . However , you may need to change the number . Use the following procedure s to cha nge your voic e mail number . 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.

It also displays the screen and the icon s that are displayed when the phone is in use. Fea tures of Y our Phone Y our phone is lightweight, ea sy-to-use and offers many significant features.
9 Key s The following list c orrelates to the ope n and front view illustrations. 1. Display : This scree n displays all the information ne eded to operate your phone. 2. Soft key : Performs the functions indicated by the screen text on the bottom o f the display .

11 Inter nal Display Layout The display has 3 areas: 1. The top line of your phone’ s main display contains icons that indicate network status, battery power , signal strength, connection type, and more. 2. The center portion of the ma in d isplay shows information such as call progress inform ation, messages , and photos.
Understanding Y our Phon e 12 Appears when Silent Mo de, Mute is active. Shows the level of your battery . The more bars you see, the more power you have remaining. Selecti ng Opti ons T o view the various functions and options available and to sele ct the one you w ant: • Press the Right Soft Key .
13 Each key also acts as a short cut to launch applications. Send K ey The Send key is used to answer calls, dial calls, and to recall the last number(s) dialed, received, or missed. • Press once to answer calls. • Enter a number and briefly press to make a call.
Call Functions 14 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a c all. It also includes the features and functional ity associated with ma king or answering a call . Making a Call When the Idle screen display s, enter the area code and phone number , and press the key .
15 From the Idle Scre en, press th e key to displa y a list of the most recent numbers used in the order you dialed or received them. 3. Use the Up and Down navigation keys to scroll through the numbers until the numbe r you want highlights. 4. T o dial the highlighte d number , press th e key .
Call Functions 16 Recent Calls The phone stores the numbers of the c alls you’ve dialed, received, or missed in the Recent Calls menu. If the number or caller is lis ted in your Contacts List, the na me associated displays. Viewing Missed Calls The number of calls you have miss ed display s on the Idle scre en when a call is mi ssed.
17 4. Press the Reset soft key . 5. At the “ Are Y ou Su re ?” prompt, press the Ye s soft key to confirm the reset or No to cancel. 6. Enter your password. Press the OK soft key . At the “ Confirm New Passw ord ”, re-enter the same password and press the OK soft key .
Call Functions 18 In Silent Mode, your phone will vibrate and light up the external LCD display or just light the ex ternal LCD display depending on the setting in the Silent Mode feature . T o exit and reactiva te the prev ious sound settings, press and hold the key a gain until “Si lent Mode Deactiva ted” displays.
19 • Send DTMF : sends DTMF (Du al T one Multi-Frequen cy) tones to the contacts you have selected. If you are in a m ulti-party call , the following opti ons also displa y: • Swap: allows you to switch between the two ac tive calls. • Join : joins the calls you have e stablished with your phone.
Call Functions 20 Call Waiting The Call Waiting feature allo ws you to answ er an incoming call while you have a call in progress, if th is service is supported by the network, an d you have set the Call Waiting - V oice Calls Menu to Activ ate . Y ou are notified of an incoming cal l by a call waiting tone.
21 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion Menu Naviga tion Menus and sub-menus can be ac cessed by scrolling using the Navigati on keys or by using the shortcut keys. Accessing a M enu Fu nction b y Scrolling 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.
Entering T ext 22 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired te xt input mode when entering characters into your phone. This section also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entry syst em to reduce the amount of k ey strokes associated with entering text.
23 1. T o change the text input mode, press the Options (left) soft key ( ). 2. Scroll to the Input Method options and press the Select (left) soft key ( ) or the key . 3. Select one of the f ollowing options: Tip: Y ou can also change between: - ABC mode and T9 mode by pressing and holding the key.

27 – Copy to Phone/S IM : allows you to copy th e contact information to the Phone or the SIM c ard (depending on the initial storage location). – Send Business Card via : allows you to set the Bus iness Card information for this entry in a T ext or Multime dia message.

29 • Memory Status : shows the nu mber as signed to the SIM memo ry card. 6. Press the Save soft ke y or the key to save eac h entry. 7. Press the Options soft key to display the following options: • Edit : allows y ou to edit the name and nu mber assigned to this contact.
Understanding Y our Address Book 30 6. Highlight the key into which you wish to assign the speed- dialing number (from the 2 to 9 keys), and press the Select soft key or the key . Y our selection is saved. Note: Memory location 1 is reser ved for your Voice mail server number .
31 Finding My Own Phone Number This function is a memory aid, which you can use to check your own phone number if you need to do so. Y ou can assign a name to each of your own phone numbers registered on your SIM card. Y ou can also edit the names and numbers.
Understanding Y our Address Book 32 FDN List FDN (Fixed Dial Number) mode, if supported by your SIM card, allows you to res trict your outgoi ng calls to a limited set of phone numbers. 1. When the Idle screen displays, press the Menu soft key . 2. Highlight Addr ess Book , press the Select soft key or the key .
33 6. Available o ptions are: Phone, SIM Card , or Ask on Saving . 7. When you are finished, press the key to ret urn to Idle mode. Cop y A ll t o Y ou can copy all entries from the SIM ca rd to the Phone, or from the Phone to the SIM card, using th e Copy All to option.

35 Memor y Status Y ou can check how man y names an d numbers are stored in the Contacts List, in both SIM ca rd, the phon e memory , and SI M (FDN). Y ou ca n also see the ca pacity of both memories. 1. When the Idle screen displays, press the Menu soft key .
Messaging 36 Section 7: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive different types of messages. It also inc ludes the feature s and function ality associated with messaging.
37 • Insert : allows you to ad d text from any of 10 preset T emplates, Contacts Li st entr y informat ion, or Fa vorite web si tes you have stored on you r phone to you r message text . • Add Media : allows you to attach pictures, animation, or melody to your message .
Messaging 38 – Add : allows you to add a subject to the m essage. – Preview : allows you to preview y our messages before sen ding. – Save to : allows you to save t he message to Drafts or My Folder . – Add Pag e : allows you to add pages to your message.
39 8. T o add message text, use the Up or Down Na vigation key highlight Message and pres s the Options soft key to view the following options: •M e s s a g e – Add : allows you to add me ssage text . – Preview : allows you to p review your messages before sending.
Messaging 40 Multimedia M essages Multimedia messages will be stored in the Inbox of the message server and the server will alert you to new messages. Therefore you need to retrieve new message s to your p hone and read them on the phone.
41 Multimedia Message Option Need text for multimedia me ssage option . Using Message Options While viewing the contents of the Inbox , press the Options soft key to acces s the foll owing options: Options for the I nbo x • Vie w : allows you to view the me ssage.

45 Keypad T one This menu allows you to select the tone and volume when y ou press the keypad. 1. Use the Navigation ke ys to select from On/Off and Key To n e ( Beep , Xylophone ). 2. Use the Navigation ke ys to increase or d ecrease the Vol um e . 3.

47 Set Time & Date This menu allows you to change the current time and date displayed. Y ou can also find out what time it is in another part of the world. Note: Before setting the time, you must specify your time zone in the World time menu. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.

49 Backlight Time In this menu, you can select the length of t ime for the M ain LCD backlight On and the Main L CD Dim. • Main Display On : Settings available are: 15 seconds, 30 s econds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, and 10 minutes. Press th e Save soft key or the key to sa ve sel ection .
Changing Y our Settings 50 3. Press the Up or Down key until the net work you want highlights and then press the Select soft key or the key . The phone will sc an for that network and you will be connected. Air pl ane Mode The Airplane Mode turns your handset off for incoming and outgoing calls .
51 Connection T one (an alert sounds at the call connection). Use the key to enable or di sabl e these functions. Press the Save soft key to save the selection. Aler ts on Call Use this op tion to turn O n or Off the Alerts on Ca ll option. Thi s will enable or disable the alert sound.
Changing Y our Settings 52 6. Press the Select soft key to save changes. Call Bar ring (SIM Dependent) The call barring network se rvice allo ws you to restrict your calls. This option is SIM dependent a nd requires a subscription. For more informati on, contact your service provider .

61 1. Highlight Alarms and press the Select soft key or the key . The following options dis play: • Wake-up Alarm : the alarm rin gs to wak e you up at the spe cified time. This o ption allow s you to set th e Snooze opti on and the da ys of the week to be enabled.

When you have finished, press the Save soft key . Anniversar y T o schedule an anniversary use the following options: • Occasion : enter the Anniversary Occasion.

WAP 72 Using Fa v orites While navigating the WAP browser , you can bookmark the site to quickly and easily access it at a future time. The URL addresses of the bookm arked sites ar e stored in t he F avorites folder , wherein you can use the 4-preset URL addresses and store your favorite URL addresses.
