1 Section 1: Ge tting Star ted This section explains how to start using your phone by first configuring your hardware, activating y our service, and then s etting up your voice mail. Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to use it is necessary to inst all both the battery and SIM into their corresponding internal compartments.
2 Installing th e SIM Ca r d When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, available optional servic es, and many others features.
3 Installing th e Ba t ter y 1. Insert the battery into t he opening on the back of the phone, making sure the connectors align (1). 2. Gently press down to secure the battery (2). 3. Replace the battery cover on the back of the phone (1) and slide it into place until you hear it s ecurely click (2).
4 Note : Make sure th e batte ry is proper ly in st alled before sw itch ing on the phon e. Installing a Memor y Card Y our phone also supports the use of a memory card ( microSD) for data storage of such things as data, mu sic, pictures, and video files.
5 Char ging a Ba t ter y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery . The T ravel Adapter that is used to charge the b attery is included with your phone.
6 2. Plug the small con nector of the T ravel Adapter into the Power/ Accessory Interface connector as shown and the other end into a standard AC wall outlet. 3. When charging is finished, re move the connector- from the interface connector jack on the phone.
7 Switc hing the Phone On or Of f 1. Press and hold until the phone switches on. The phone launches the activation splash screen and then proceeds to search for the network. O nce the network has been found, you can make or receive calls. Note : The displ ay l ang uage is pr ese t to Englis h at the f acto ry .
8 Acce ssing Y our V oice M ail 1. In Idle mode, pr ess and hold . 2. When connected , follow the v oic e prompts from the voice mail center . Acce ssing Y our V oice M a il F r om A nother Pho ne 1. Dial your wireless phone number . 2. When you hear your voicemail greeting, press .
9 Section 2: Un der standing Y our Phone This section outlines some key featur es of your phone. It also displays the screen and the i cons that display whe n the phone is in use.
10 receiving an i ncoming call, briefly press either volume key to mute the ring tone. Press and hold either volume key to reject a call and send it directly to voicemail. 2. Memory card por t : Y our phone has an external memory port for a microSD or microSDHC card.
11 Open View of Y ou r Phone 1. Earpiece : allows you to hear the c aller . 2. Display : shows the information needed to ope rate your phone, such as the received signal strengt h, phone battery level, time, etc. 3. Le ft Sof t key : allows you to select actions or menu items corresponding to the bottom left line on the di splay screen.
12 4. Multitasking key : opens the appl ication switch wi ndow , which allows you to select diff erent appl ications without having to exit from the cu rrently active applicat ion. These options include Call, Messaging, Browser , Music Player , Games and Apps, and End all.
13 14. OK /Me nu key : when navi gating throu gh a menu accept s t he highli ghted ch oice in the menu. Pre ss once in I dle mode to open the menu. 15. Navigation keys : these keys allow y ou to scroll throug h phone menu options and provide shortcuts to phone functions from standby mode.
14 Indic ator Ic ons This list identifies th e symbols you’ll see on y our phone’s display and Indicator area: Displays your c urrent signal strength. The greater the number of bars, the stronger the sign al. Indicates that the Airplane Mo de is active.
15 Displays when an internal m icroSD memory card is detected. Displays when the phone is connected to a computer via USB cable connection. Displays within the Indicators area when a new text message is received. Displays within the Indicators area when a new Multimedia message is received.

18 Multitask Functions Pressing the Mu ltitasking key allows you to choose one of the following functions: • Call : allows you to make a voic e call while usin g the handset for other tasks.
19 Section 3: En tering T e xt This section outlines how to select the desired text input mode when entering characters into your phone. It also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry sy stem to reduce the number of key strokes associated with entering text.
20 T9 Predictiv e T e xt Inpu t Me t hod (T 9 a b, T9 Ab, a nd T9 AB ) This input method allows you to enter words with only one keystroke per letter . E ach key on the key pad has more than one letter; for example, pressing the key can ente r J, K, or L.
21 2. After you have selected an input method, keep pressing the key to choose from the following options: If in Multi tap mod e : Quick press the key to toggle abc (all lowercase), Abc (initial capi taliz ation), ABC (all u pperc ase), and 123 (numeric).
22 Ent er a W or d in T9 Mode 1. In T9 method, begi n entering a word by pressing the 2 to 9 keys. Press each key only once for each letter . The built-in dictionary lists words that match the entered keystrokes. 2. Example: T o enter “Hello”, press , , , , The word that you are typing displays on the screen.
23 4. Press the Add soft key or t he k ey . The word is added to the T9 dictionary and bec omes the first word for the associated keypress series. Note : This featu re may not be availab le for some la ngua ges. • T o ente r periods, hyphens, colons, or parenth esis, press and hold t he key .

25 Section 4: Call Fu nctions This secti on describes how to make or answer a call. It al s o includes the features and functi onality asso ciated with making or answering a call. For more information, refer to “Call Settings ” on page 130. Displaying Y our Phone Number • Press Sett i ngs Phone Own Number .
26 1. From the Idle screen, use the k eypad to enter the phone number . 2. Press and hold to add a two-second pause ( P ), and use the keypad to enter the additional numbers. Ti p : Y ou can cre ate paus es longe r than t wo sec onds by ent erin g mult ipl e two- second pa uses.

29 Putting a Ca ll on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can also ma k e another call whil e you have a call in progress if your network supports this service. T o put a call on hold: 1. While on a call, press Opti ons Hold .
30 Press Opti ons End and then select Active cal l , Held ca ll , or A ll calls and press . In-Call O ptions 1. During a call, press the Mut e soft key to mute the microphone. Press Spkr on to put the call on speakerphone. Press the Options soft key to access the following: •H o l d : places the current call on hold.
31 2. If you are engaged in a call, you can place the active call on hold by selecting the New cal l option and either dialing another number or answering another incoming call. Once the second call is activated, the following options are available: •S w a p : Places the active call on hold and then re-activates the call on hold.
32 2. Press Unmute to deactivate the Mute function and reactivate the microphone. Se arching f or a Num ber in Con tac ts 1. During th e active call, press Option s Contacts . 2. Highlight a contact entry . For further detai ls about the Contacts feature, see “Finding a Contact Entry” on page 107.
33 Recent Call s All calls ) . T he All Call s list di splays all calls made, missed, or received. 2. Highlight a call and press the Option s soft key to view the following options: • Details : allows you to view the caller ’ s name, phone number , time and date called as well as the length of the call.
34 2. Scroll through the list of missed calls. As the call highlights, the details display . 3. T o move to another call type, press the left or right navigation key to make your selection. 35 2. Highlight the desired missed call . 3. Press Option s Send Messag e . 4. From the Create screen, highl ight the em pty text field and use the keypad to type a message. For more information, refer to “Creating and Sending Mess ages” on page 39.
36 Da ta Counter The Data Counter measures to the amount of data sent to and fr om the phone. 1. Press Recent Cal ls Data c ount er . The following data items display: • Last Sent : shows the size of the last data packet (measured in K B - kilobytes) se nt by the phone since the last time this counter was reset .
37 T o answer a call wh ile you have a call in progress: 1. Press to answer the next incoming call. The first call is automatically placed on hold. 2. T o switch between the two calls, press Option s Swap . Swap places the current call on h old and then activates the previous call.
38 Section 5: Messaging This secti on describes how to send or receive dif f erent types of messages. It also includes the f eatures and functionality associated with messaging.
39 Cr ea ting and Sendi ng Messa ges 1. From the Idle screen, press Messaging Creat e Message . Ti p : In Id le mo de, y ou can crea te a n ew mes s age b y pressi ng up on th e Nav igation key . 2. Use the keypad to enter a message. For more information, refer to “Entering T ext” on p age 19.
40 • Contact Inf o : allows you t o tap on an exis ting Contacts entry , then add it to your message by pressing Select . 4. Review your message and press Send t o .
41 7. Press Send to , then add recipient(s). 8. Press Send . V iewing New R eceiv ed Messa ges 1. In Idle mode, new messages are indicated by icons and a New Message pop-up.
42 – Move to P hone/ Move to SIM Card : If a message is stor ed in the SIM c ard, it is saved to the phone’s memory . If a message is stored in the phone’ s memory , it is then save d to t he SIM card. – Lock/Unlock: lets you lock a me ssage s o it cannot be deleted.
43 2. Follow the prompts to configure options or receive messages. Deleting Messa ges When your phone’ s memory is ful l , a notification messag e displays a nd you cannot receive any new messages. Use the Dele t e option to erase obsolete messages, freei ng memory for new messages.
44 Te x t M e s s a g e This opti on allows you to change your T ext Message settings. Y ou can change the following: • Deli ver y Opti ons : all ows you to choo se charact er supp ort (GSM al phabet , Unicode or au tomat ic), Repl y Path , Get Deliver y Repor t, and K eep a C opy .
45 • Receivi ng Opti ons : you can specify the catego ry of messages you want to receive. Allows you to set the foll owing: – Home Net work : allows you to set t he message receipt opt ions for your home network. Choose from Auto Downlo ad, Manual or Reject.
46 – Free : cr eate a multimedia message wit h n o re strictions . – Wa r n i n g : sends a warning w hen unsupported content is included in a message.
47 • Receivi ng Ch annel s : All Chan nels or My Channels. • My Channels: Lets you create a channel list . • Language : Selects langu ages for incoming br oadcast messages. Te m p l a t e s Y ou can speed message composition by including copies of stored message content in y our message.
48 2. Select a template from the Multimedia T emplates list and press Optio ns → Send . The template displays in a new message. Creating a Multimed ia template 1. From Idle mode, press and s elect Messaging → T emplates → Multimed ia T empl ates.
49 Section 6: Calendar The Calendar feature allows you to v iew the Month, W eek, and Day layout views. It also s hows any Missed A larm Events that occurred. T o display your calendar: • Press Calendar . The Calendar displays in the defa ult (Month) view .
50 Cal end ar Opti ons Options for the Calendar include: •V i e w : allows you to view a specified date. •V i e w B y : allows you to choose bet w een m onth view , day view or week view . • Create : allows you t o select an event category: A ppointment, Anniversary , Holiday , Important or Private event.
51 Deleting an Ev ent 1. Press Calendar Options Event Li st . 2. Select an event type, then press the S elect soft key or the key . The events in the selected category display . 3. Highlight an event to delete and press Opti ons De let e and press the Ri ght Navigation key .
52 Section 7: Br o wser Y our pho ne include s a W AP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser that allows wireless access and navigati on of the Web using your phone.
53 Entering T ext in the brow ser When you ar e prompted to enter text , the currently active text input mode is indi cated in the upper right corner of the screen. T o change the text input mode, press the O ptions soft k ey and select T ext Mode → a mode.
54 – Homepage: reopens t he default homepage. – Full scr een/Normal screen: controls whether the icon bar and page title are display ed at t he top of the display , or the ar ea is used t o s how more of the acce ssed Web page. – Smart-width vi ew/Standard view : lets you change the page magnification.
55 4. Press . For further detai ls about entering c haracters, see “Entering T ext” on page 19. Bookmar ks This menu stores up to 100 URL addresses, simplifying future access. T o store a URL address: 1. From Idle mode, press and s elect Browser → Bookmarks .
56 • Delete : allows you to del ete th e Selected address or Multiple addresses. • Set as ho mepage : allows you to set the s elected bookmark as a homepage. 6. Select a URL and press or Opt io ns → Open . Y our browser displays the site. Sa v ed pa ges This option displays a list of t he pages that were s aved while navigating the browser .
57 Empty Cookies Cookies identify who y ou are when you revisit we b sites; however , they are also used to track y our web surfing habits. Deleting c ookies increases security . Cookie Opti ons Cookie mode allows you to Ac cept al l cookies, Reject all cookies, or Prompt you when a site wants to deposit a c ookie.
58 Section 8: Alar ms This feature allows you to set an alarm to ring at a specific time. 1. Press Alarms . The followi ng options display: • W ake- up Alarm : the alarm rings to wake you up at the specified t i me. •A l a r m 1 : primary alarm setting.
59 •A l a r m t y p e : sets the way in which the alarm sounds when activated (Melody , Increasing Melody , Vibratio n, Vi bration then Melody , V ibr ation and Melody , or Vi bration and Increasing Melody). • Alarm tone: sets the sound file that is played when the alarm is activated.
60 Section 9: Camer a This section explains how to use the c amera in your phone. Y ou can take photographs and shoot video by using the built-in camera functionality . Y our 2.0 megapixel camera produces photos in JP EG format. Impor tan t!: Do not take photos of people witho ut their permis sion.
61 4. Press the Camera key or the key until the s hutter sounds. (The picture automatically stores within your designa ted storage location. If no microSD card is installed, all pictures are stored on the Phone.
62 • White Balance : allows you to set this option from the following choices: Auto, Daylight, Incandescent, Fluorescent, or Cloudy . • Met er i ng : al lows you t o set how the ca mera measures or meters th e l ight level of t he image area: Matrix, Ce nter- weight ed, or Spot.

64 • Delete : allows you to delet e the picture or video. • Set as : allows you to se t the photo as a Main Display wallpaper , Front Display wallpaper , or Caller ID (this option only appears in Camera). •E d i t : allows you to edit the pict ur e (this option only appears in Camera).
65 • Crop: allows you to crop the image. Use t he Navigation keys to place the red box around t he image until you center a portion in the box. T o change the box, press Opt ions , select Siz e or Sh ap e , use the navigation keys to m odify the size or shape.
66 Assi gni ng an I ma g e as a Wall pa per 1. Press My Stuff Photos <i mage> . 2. Press Option s Set as Main Di spla y or Cover Di spl ay . The wall paper appears as a preview . 3. If you are s etting the wallpaper for the main display , press Select to set the wallpaper .
67 5. Press Stop or the Camera key to stop recording and save the video file. 6. Once the file sa ves, press Opti ons Pla y to review the video. 7. Press to return to Idle mode. Camcor der Options Options are represented by icons across the top of the sc reen when you press the Option s key .

Choose f rom the foll owin g opti ons: Settings: Video tab – Quality : allows you to set the image quality to: Economy , Fine or Superfine. – Audio recording : allows you to select whether audio is re corded with a video recordi ng.
69 •M o v e : allows you to choose the Selected or Multiple videos to move. • Copy : allows you to copy a se le cted or multiple videos. • Record V i deo : allows you to record another video. • Create Fol der : creates a n ew My Stuff folder on either the Pho ne or Memory Card.
70 Section 10: Photos Use Photos to manage photos saved on your phone. 1. In Idle mode, pr ess and select Photos (or My St u f f Phot os ). When you ac cess this menu, your phone displays the photos in Line view , which s hows them as small images.
71 • Copy : all ows you to c opy the Selected photo o r Multiple photos to another locatio n. • T ake Photo : allows y ou to take another photo. • Create Folder : all ows you to create a new folder in which to place this photo. • Sort by : allows you to sort photos in this folder by Dat e, T ype, Name, or Size.
72 4. T o delete a mul tiple photos, choose M ultip le and press the Select soft key or OK k ey . Highlight each file to be deleted and press Check to place a checkmark i n the selection box. Pr ess the Dele t e soft key to confirm the deletion. 5. Press when you are finished.
73 Section 11: Videos From the Videos menu you can record a v ideo, or view the list of videos downloaded from the web server or received in picture messages. Y ou can also view a video saved to your V ideos folder or memory card. 1. In Idle mode, pr ess and select Vi de o s (or My Stuff Vi d e o s ) .
74 • Sort by : allows you to sort and view vid eos by Date, T ype, Name, or Size. • Bluetoot h visibi li ty : makes Selected or Mu ltiple voice files visible to a Bluetooth device. • Lock/Unlock : locks the voice file to protec t it fr om deletion, or unlocks the voice file to allow deletion.
75 Section 12: T ools T ools are feature options that allow you to use your handset for a variety of non-phone related activities. T o access any of the tools: • Press T ool s . Camer a For information on using the camera, see “Camera” on page 60.
76 • Set as : allows you to set this music file as Call Ringtone, Caller Ringtone or Alarm tone. • Properties : displays Basic de tails about the selected music file.
77 • Set as : allows you to set this music file as Call Ringtone, Caller Ringtone or Alarm tone. • Add to Playlist : adds the currently active song to either a new or current playlist. • Send via : sends the select ed music file in a message or to a Bluetooth enabled device.
78 Pl ayi ng Musi c w hil e Usi ng t he Ph on e The Music Player allows you to play music in the background while performing other tasks on your phone. The music pauses when an incoming call is accepted, and the music resumes when the call ends. Music continues to play when you receiv e messages.

82 If the phone does not recognize your command the Command not recognized screen displays with two options: • Help : provi des inst ruction s on how t o use vo ice commands. • Restar t : press and try the command options agai n. Speak clearly when giving your command.
83 When you add or change contacts, the software automatically reloads and voice-activates the list when you add or modify a contact. R ecor d Audio Record Audio al lows you to record voice memos. It also allows you to send your audio clip to other peopl e as an attachment of an MMS message.
84 • Set as : allows you to se t the curr ent memo as a Call Ringtone, Caller Ringtone or an Alarm T one. • Delete : allows you to delete the current memo. •M o r e : displays the follow ing additional options: – Rename : allows you to rename the audio file.

86 • Print via Bl uetooth : lets you print t he task list to a Bluetooth-enabled printer . • Missed alarm events : shows any events n ot completed and alarm time has passed. • Used Space : shows the number of tasks created out of a possible 100.
87 Calcula tor With this feature, you can use the phone as a calculator . The calculator provides the basic arithmetic functions; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisio n. 1. Press T ool s Calcul at or . 2. Enter the first number using the keypad.
88 4. Enter the number of people splitting th e bill in the # pa ying field. 5. The amount of the Ti p ( $ ) and Y o u pa y displays. 6. Press Reset to clear the fields and start over .
89 7. Press Back or to exit. Wo r l d C l o ck W orld Clock allows you to view the ti me in other parts of the worl d. It displays the ti me in different cities in al l 24 time zones aroun d the world. T o add another time zone: 1. Press T ool s Wo r l d C l o c k .
90 Timer Y ou can use this menu to set a time r to count down a p r eset amount of time (hours, minutes , and seconds). 1. Press T ool s Tim e r . 2. Press Set and use the keypad to enter a countdown time length for the alert by setting the Hours, Minutes, and Seconds value, then press the OK soft key .
91 Section 13: My Stuf f Photos For information on using Photos to manage photos saved on your phone, see “Photos” on page 70. Music Y our phone’s Mu si c features allow you to play and manage the music files stored on your ph one. 1. From Idle mode, press and s elect My Stuff → Music .
92 • Create Folder : all ows you to create a new folder in which to store music files. • Sort by : lists the files by Date, T ype, Name, or Siz e. • Blue tooth vi sibil ity : allows you share the Selected file or Mult iple files with other Bluetooth devices.
93 W al lpa per s This folder contains preconfigured wallpapers. Scroll to the wallpaper you want to view and press the Options soft key to access the following options: •V i e w : opens the select ed image. • Set as : sets the image as Main Display wallpaper , Cover display wallpaper , or as a Caller ID.
94 • Delete : erases the Selected im age or Multiple images. • Rename : renames the image. • Move : moves the Selected or Multiple images to another location. • Copy : copies the Selected or Multiple images to another location. • T ake Photo : allows y ou to take another photo with the camera.
