4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes the first steps to operating you r phone. SIM Card Infor mation When you subscribe to cellular network services, you receive a plug-in Subscriber Identity Mod ule (SIM) card loaded with your subscription details, such as yo ur PIN, and available op tional services.
Getting Started 5 Inst alli ng and Remo ving t he SIM Car d Import ant!: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the SIM, and keep all SIM cards out of reach of children.
6 3. With the batter y in position in the pho ne, align the back cover on the phone (1) and slide gently upward (2) until the cover clicks into place. Note: The battery must be properly installed before charging the ba ttery or switching on the phone.
Getting Started 7 3. When the phone is complete ly charged ( ), unplug the charger from th e power outlet. 4. Remove the adap ter from the phone by gent ly pulling the connector ou t and replace the pl astic cover over the open jack. Import ant!: The battery charging function may stop if you are on a call while charging your battery.
8 Setting Up Y our Voice Mail 1. In Idle mode, press and hold the key . 2. When connect ed, follow the voice prompt s from the voice mail center . Changing the Voice Mail Name and Numbe r Y our SIM card gives you the defa ult service number of the voice mail center .

Volume keys/Menu Navigation : Used to adjust the ringer volume in standby mode, to mu te the incoming call ringer , or to adjust the voice v olume during a call.
12 17. Backspace key : Allows y ou to delete while moving cursor to the left in text entr y . 18. Power On/Off/Me nu Exit key : Ends a call or exits a program. Press and hold this key for a few seconds to power your phone On or Off . While in the main menu, it returns the phone to standby mode and cancel s y our input.
Understanding Y our Phone 13 2. Headset jack/Adapter jack : Allows you to plug in the travel adapter (power) and op tional headset for s afe, convenient, hands-free conversations. Back View of Y our Phone 1. Camera lens : Used for taking pictures. 2. Mirror : Displays your reflection when taki ng a picture of yourself.
14 Note: The default Sound Profile is Normal. The profile is editable, and the displayed icons may vary according to the settings. T o edit Sound Profile settings, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Sound Pr ofile . Appears when you receiv e a new multimedia messa ge.
Understanding Y our Phone 15 Back Lig ht A back light illumi nates the display and the k eypad when you press any key . It turns off wh en no keys are pressed within a given period of time, and/or di ms the light, depending on the settings in the Backlight T ime menu.
16 • To o l s : allows you to access camera, record au dio, alarms, calendar , recent calls, notes, calcu lator , tip calculator , converter , timer , stopwatch and world time. • Empty : (locations 7-#) allows you to program an add itional set of frequently used features.
Understanding Y our Phone 17 • In the Idle screen, press the Menu (right) soft key to open the Menu screen. • When in a menu mode, the right soft k ey function is Back . Clear K ey The C key is used to erase or clea r numbers, text, or symbols from the display and to access Calendar mode.
18 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a ca ll. It also includes the features and function ality associ ated with making or answering a call. Making a Call In Idle mode , enter the area co de and phone num ber , and press the key .
Call Functions 19 3. Continue to enter numbers, if desired. Tip: Y ou can create pauses longer than two seconds by entering multiple pauses. Re dialing the Last Num ber All incoming, o utgoing and missed calls are lis ted in the Recent Calls Menu. If the number or caller is listed in your Address Book, the associated name displays.
20 Note: Y ou can answer a call while using the Address Book or menu features. After ending the call, the phone returns to the function screen you were using. Recent Calls The phone stores the numbers of th e calls yo u’ve dialed, received, or mi ssed in the Recent Calls menu.
Call Functions 21 3. Press the Options soft key , then select Details . Calling Bac k a Missed Call T o call back a missed call number: 1. Press the Vie w soft key. A list of th e most recently missed calls is displayed. 2. Highlight the desi red missed call.
22 Deleting a Missed Call T o delete a missed call entry: 1. Immediately a fter missi ng a call, press the Vie w soft key . 2. Press the Options soft key , then select Delete . 3. Select which items will be deleted: • Selected : This opti on allows yo u to delete o nly selected c all entries.
Call Functions 23 Press the Menu soft key , then selec t My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Recent Calls ➔ Data V olume . The following information displays: • Last Sent Data : shows the size of the la st data packet (measured in KB - kilobytes) sent by the p hone since the last time this counter was reset.
24 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Adjusting the Call V olume During a call , if you want to adjust the ea rpiece volume, use the Vol u m e keys on the left side of the phone . Press to increase the volume level and press to decrease the volume level.
Call Functions 25 1. Place the call you wish to end on hold. 2. Press the Options soft key , then select End Held Call . 3. Press the Select soft key to end the call on hold. 4. Press to end the la st remaining call. In-Call Options During a call, press the Mute soft key to mute the microphone.
26 Muting or Sendin g Ke ypad T ones These options al low you to turn the key t ones off or on. If the Mute Keypad T one option is sele cted, it allo ws you to press keys without hearing key tones during a call. Note: T o communica te with answering machines or computerized telephone systems, the Send Keypad T one option must be selected.
Call Functions 27 • Swap : Places th e current call o n hold and th en activates the previou s call. T o end a call on hold: 1. Press the Options soft key , then select End Held Call to end the call on hold. Y ou can continue with the remaining call.
28 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains the men u navi gation for your phone. It also includes an overview of all the avai lable menus associat ed with your phone. Some menu optio ns are controlled by the SIM provided by your servic e provider .
Menu Navigation 29 3. Press the key for Phone 4. Press the key for Language . My Menu The My Menu option allows you to access applications from the idle mode without na vigating through the main menu icons and sub menus.
30 Section 5: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive diffe rent types of messages. It al so includes the features and functi onality associated with messaging.

34 2. Highlight a current templa te message and press the Options soft key to access the f ollowing options: • Edit : allows you to ch ange the curren tly selected tem plate. • Send Message : allows you to crea te and send a me ssage using the selected template.
Messaging 35 3. Press to mark the fold er containing messages you want to delete. T o delete all of the unl ocked me ssages in all of the folders, mark All . 4. Press the Delete soft key . 5. At the “ Delete? ” pop-up, press the Ye s soft key or the key to delete.
36 – Ads Allowed : allows you to autom atically reject messages with a category of advertisement. – Report A llowed : when this option is enabled, your phone sen ds a notification back to the reci pient indicating that your message has been received.
Messaging 37 Signi ng In t o Y our Mobil e Email 1. Press Menu ➔ Mobile Email . 2. Select one of the email service pro viders and press th e I Agree soft key to accept th e terms of service. 3. Enter your Screen Name and P assword in the fields provided.

Understanding Y our Address Book 39 Section 6: Understanding Y our Address Book This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address B ook. Address Book entries can be sorted by name, entry , or group.

Press the Back soft key to return to the Address Book l isting. • Send Message : allows you to send a text mess age or a multimedia message to the selected entry . • Add New Contact : allows you to add a new entry to either your Phone or SIM card.

Y our display returns to your Contact List or your FDN Contact Li st according to your se lection. 4. Highlight your contac t selection and p ress Options ➔ Select or press .
44 4. Select the FDN Contact to call, or press the Options soft key to add additi onal contac ts, change a cont act, or delete a contact from the FDN Li st. Copy to FDN Cont acts 1. Highlight an entry in the C o ntact List, and select the Options soft key.
Understanding Y our Address Book 45 2. T o copy an entr y to the SIM c ard, highlight an entry, then press the Check ( ) key . A check mark appears in the box to the le ft of the Cont act name. Repeat this step for all Entries to be copied to the SIM.
46 3. Press the Options soft key , then select Delete ➔ All . Y ou can remove the check ma rk by pressing the key again. Selecting All places a checkmark a djacent to ever y entry in the list. 4. Press the Delete soft key to delete the c heck Phone entries.

48 Section 7: Changing Y our Settings This section inc ludes tips on ho w to use some of use some of your phone’ s features, as well as how to change and customize the display settings, call handling, security settings, and other settings a ssociated with your phone.
Changing Y our Settings 49 – Voice Call Ringtone : allows you to select a ringtone from your My Stuff (Phone) folder which conta ins not only the default phone rin gtones, but also any new ringtones which have been downloaded from the Internet and your recorded au dio clips.
50 Note: The Silent profile can also be activated by pressing and holding the key or by reducing the volume to 0. An on screen message notifies you that the Silent profile is now active. T o deactivate this profile, press and hold the key again or increase the volume using the volume key .
Changing Y our Settings 51 – Brightness : allows you to adjust the d isplay brightness for the L CD to see it better in differe nt lighting conditions. Press the Left or Right Navigation keys to adjust the brightnes s. Press the Save soft key or the key to make your selection.

Changing Y our Settings 53 • Security : enables you to restrict the use of your phone by the o thers and to restrict the types of calls. V arious codes and passwords are used to protect the features of your phone. The following options are available.
54 – Set FDN Mode : Fixed Dial Number (FDN) mode, if supported by your SIM card, allows you to rest rict the outgoing calls to a l imited set of phone numbers. The following op tions are available: • Off : you can call any num ber . • On : you can onl y call phone numbers st ored in F DN contact list.

62 Pictures The Pictures menu option allows you to Shop Grap hics using the WAP browser . Y ou can download new graphics, save them and view them in your Downloaded Graphics folder . Select T ake Photo in y ou r P i c t u r e s m e n u t o go i nt o c a m e r a m o de to take a new photo and view your photos in My Photos folder .
My Stuff 63 2. Highlight a photo and before viewing the selected photo, press the Options soft key to see the f ollowing options: • Vie w : allows you to view your select ed photo. • Display Mode : allows you to select Line V iew or Thumbnail View .
64 2. If desired, before taking the ph oto, press the Menu soft key to access camera opti on icons. For more information, refer to “Camera Options” on page 64. 3. Adjust the image by aiming the camera at the subject, using the phone displa y as a v iewfinder .
My Stuff 65 Effects : allows y ou to choose a custom color t one for your photo. Choose from the following: • No Effects : automati cally adjust the picture for the best quality available. • Black & White : remove al l color and display the picture as greyscale/ black and white.
66 Re c o r d Au d i o Record Audio allow s you to record voice memos. It also allows you to send your audi o clip to other people as an att achment of an MMS message. Recording time is limited to free memor y space available. For more informat ion, refer to “Record Audio” on page 60.

Tip Cal culator With this feature, you can use th e phone to calculate the amount of money left as a tip based on parameters such as: total bill amount, tip percentage , and number of members in your party .
