Getting Started 5 Install the Batter y Note: Y our phone comes packaged with a partially charged rechargeable standard Li-Ion battery and travel adapter . Important!: Y ou must fully charge the battery the first time you use your phone, otherwise you could damage the battery.
6 Install the Batter y 䊳 Insert the top end of the batter y first, matc hing the gold contacts on the inside of the batter y to those on the phone (1), th en press the botto m of the batter y down into the phone until it slips into place (2). Remo ve the Batter y Before removing the batte ry , turn the phone o ff, if necessar y .
Getting Started 7 Charging the Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable standard Li-Ion ba ttery . Only use Samsung-approved charging devices and batteries. Getting Started 9 Listen to V o icemail 䊳 In standby mode, press and hold the ke y or dial you r mobile number to dial Voicemail. After connecting, you will hear your voice greeting, and the prompt to enter your password. Memor y Car d (Optional) Y our phone has a Memor y Card slot on it s side, behind the battery cover .
10 Remo ve a Memor y Car d 1. Remove the batter y cover from t he back of your phone. (F or more information, refer to “Batter y Cover” on page 5.) 2. Press the memory card into the sl ot until the card lock releases. 3. Remove the memor y card from the memor y card slot.
Call Functions 11 Section 2: Call Functions This section provides procedures for making and answering calls. This section also describes features, such as ca ll logs and call timers, that help you make calls and manage your call time. Note: The procedures in this section can be performed using the phone keypad or the QWERTY keypad.
12 Thr ee-w ay Calling Call two other numbers an d connect them to your call using three-way calling. 1. In standby mode, enter the number for the first party in your call, then p ress . 2. When connected, ask the first party to remain on the li ne. Press to place them on hold.
Call Functions 13 Speed Dia ling Speed Dialin g lets you place a call to any Con tact stored i n your Contacts l ist by dialing the Contact’ s Location number . For more inform ation, refer to “Speed Dial ” on page 35. Example: T o speed dial the Contacts entry assigned to speed dial 325, press or , press or , then press and hold or .
14 Answ ering a Call Incoming When you receive a call, the phone di splays one of the follo wing: • If the caller can be identified, the caller’ s number (or na me if it’ s in y our Contacts) appears in the display .
Call Functions 15 Call Waiting If you’re on a call, y our phone beep s when you receive a second call. Ca ll Wait ing lets you answer the second cal l a nd alternate between both calls.
16 Recen t Calls Y our phone has Call Logs that retain information about Outgoing, Incom ing, and Missed Calls. The Calls menu lets you access this info rmation for future reference, to return calls, and to add new Contacts. Y ou can also view times for your last call and the total of all cal ls.
Call Functions 17 Er ase All Call s 1. In standby mode, press Menu ➔ Recent Calls ➔ All Calls . The All Calls list appears in the display with the fi rst call in the list highlighted. 2. Press the Options soft key , then s elect Erase all . “ Erase all entries? ” prompts you to confirm erasur e of all Calls log entrie s.

Mirror — Lets you position the Camera Lens to take se lf portraits. 5. Camera / Music Player Key — Launches the Camera or the Music Player feature of your phone.

28 • Briefly press in standby mode to display a list of recent calls to and from your phone. • Press twice in standby mode to call the most recent number . • Press to pick up a waiting call. 32 Music Play er Mod e Music Player mode lets you activate your phone ’ s Musi c Player to play music files from an optional microSD™ Memory Card. Note: For more information, refer to “Memory Card (Optional)” on page 9. and to “Music Player” on page 48.
Understanding Y our Contacts 33 Section 5: Understanding Y our Contacts Up to 500 entries can be stored in Cont acts. Each entry can have up to five associated pho ne numbers and one e-mail address. Each phone number can be up to 32 digits in length, including pauses, and associated name s can be up to 32 characters in length.
34 Adding a New Contact Dial Me thod 1. Using the keypad , enter the num ber you wish to add to your Contacts . 2. Press the Save soft key and enter the contact informa tion. Menu Method 1. Y ou can also use Groups to find Contact entries and to add/remove Contacts names in a Group or to create or rename a Group. Location Use the Location setting to specify whether your phone pa sses your Gl obal Positioning System (GPS) loca tion to the network continually , or only when you make an emergency (911) call.

Browser 51 Section 10: Browser With Bro wser , you can co nveniently surf the web a nd download ringtones and wallpapers using your phone. This section outlines how to launch Brow ser , how to navigate to pa ges on the web, and how the keys on the QWERTY keypad are used with the web application.

Browser 53 Browser K eys The following table lists QWERTY keyboard keys used in Browser , and their functio ns. Arrow keys — Use to browse lis ts and options. Back Key — Press once to back up one pa ge. Press and hold to go back to home page. When entering text, pres s once to clear the last number , letter , or symbol entered.

Messages 55 Receiv e Messages When you receive a message in standby mo de, the ringer sounds (unless turned off) and New Message appears in the displ ay along with t he close d envelope icon .
56 Drafts Messages in the Draft Box are those that have been composed but n ever sent. Entering T ext 59 For example, to enter th e word “Samsung”, press each of the following keys on ly once : If more than one word shares the same numeric sequence, T9 Word ins erts the most commonly used word, and disp lays any additional words in a pop-up menu where you can select the desired word.
60 Using Abc/ABC Mode Abc mode enters characters wi th the first character of each word capitalized. ABC mode enters characters as all capitals. 1. To s w i t c h t o Abc or ABC mode while composing a text message, press the Left soft key , then sel ect Abc or ABC .
