Introduction • Print Screen can only be used in the Windows and Macintosh operating systems. • You can only use this function with USB-connected machine. • When printing the active window/whole mo nitor screen using the print screen button, the machine may use more toner depending on what is being printed.

22 1. Introduction Installing the driver locally A locally connected machine is a ma chine directly attached to your computer using the cable. If your machine is attached to a network, skip the following steps below and go on to installing a network connected machine’s driver (see Advanced Guide).

If this happens, you can temporarily improve print quality by redistributing the remain ing toner in the cartridge.

1. Software installation This chapter provides instructions for in stalling essential and helpful software for use in an environment where the mach ine is connected via a cable. A locally connected machine is a machine directly attached to your computer using the cable.

12 2. Using a network-connected machine Useful network programs There are several programs availabl e to setup the network settings easily in a network environment. For the network administrator especially, managing several machin es on the network is possible.
13 2. Using a network-connected machine Wired network setup You must set up the network protocol s on your machine to use it on your network. You can use network after conn ecting network cable to a corresponding port on your machine.
