10 Turning Your Phone ON and OFF Turning ON 1. Open the phone and pr ess . The pho ne will be ep and the wake-u p screen will be displayed. The phone will begin searching f or a network s ignal. When a sig nal is fou nd, the icon will be displayed and the phon e will enter S tandby mode.

12 Displayi ng Your Phone Num ber There are two ways t o display your phon e number in S tandby mode: Using the Menu 1. Press to dis play the M ain menu. 2. Press to select Pho ne Book. 3. Press to sel ect My Phone #. 4. Press to return to the Standby screen.
13 Displ ay Top Line of Display Dependin g on t he ph one’s opera ting mode, t he disp lay i ndicat ors will in for m you of in-use statu s . Signa l Stre ngth: Indicates the signal streng t h when yo ur phon e is turned on. The more lines th e greater the signal streng th.
14 Analog Call: Indicates that the phone is set to Analog mode. Voi ce privac y: Indicates that the call is being made in Voice Privacy mode. Indicates that the rin ger volume is set to “0”. is displaye d instead wh en it is set to Escalate. Vib rate: Indicates t hat your ph one will n otify you of incoming cal ls, data, etc.
15 Batte ry When yo u use you r phone for t he first time after in stalling t h e battery, pl ease chec k t he batte ry leve l on th e displ ay. If th e phone detects a low batter y level, your call m ay drop quickly.
16 Rem o v ing th e B a tte ry Note Do not remove the b attery while th e phone is t urned on. Cha rg ing th e B attery Check the status of the battery indicator on the display. When t he empty icon of the bat tery ( ) i s displ ayed, your phon e detects a low battery level * and alerts you that the battery is al most exhaus t ed .
17 Using the Travel Charger * Charge time: app roximately 2 to 3 h ours. 1. Inser t the t ra vel cha rger’ s conn ect or in to the connec tor at t he bottom of the phone. 2. Plug th e charger into a wall o utlet. 3. The LE D indicato r shows the b a tte ry leve l a s follows: In dicator S tatus Light is red : Charging is in progress.
18 • Charge the b attery in a temperatu re range of 32° F to 10 4° F (0° C to 40°C) . • Charge the b attery if it h as been left unus ed for a long perio d of time. • Keep the metal co ntacts of the battery clean. • Replace the battery if it does no t s eem to offer enou gh perfor mance.
19 Phone Mode Standby Mode When yo u turn your phone on, it will start s e ar ching for the home network signal. I f your pho ne is inside t he home n etwork area, it will en ter Standby mode imm ediately. Press the digit keys to st art dialing. Talk Mode Your pho ne enters Talk mod e at the time t he telephone ci rcuit is established.
20 Vo i c e C a l l Making a Voice Call 1. Open the phone and pr ess . The pho ne beeps and t he wake-up screen is displayed. Then, (ante nna) and the signal strengt h level ( ) will be displayed t o indi cat e you are in a service area where it is possibl e to make a pho ne call.

24 Answering a Call When you receive a call : When you r phone receive s a call, it will ring, or vibrate depending on y our ringer setting. The LED indicator s hould flash gr een, then the backlight will light up when you open th e phone. There are tw o ways to answer a call: 1.

28 Voice Calling Experi ence When you use your phone on other CDMA networks, your callin g experience and call qu ality will be similar to what y ou experience when mak ing calls fro m within your home networ k. Although certain voice calling features may not be available, your phone calls are still private and secure.
29 Ca ller ID When you receiv e a call from a numb er that you hav e stored in the phone bo ok, your p hone wil l display t he caller’s number and name. Your number and na me can also be displ ayed on the other cal ler’s phone as well. No te • Det ails of Ca ller ID ser vice vary depend ing o n your ho me netwo rk and its services.
30 Ca ll W aitin g Your phone suppo rts Call Waiting service. Usin g this feature, you can receive a s econd call while holding the curr ent call. When you receive a second cal l durin g a call in progress, the incoming call alert is heard. Accepti ng or Rej ecting a S econd C all 1.
31 Three-way Call ing (Conf e rence Call) With the Three-way Callin g feature, you can have a conference with two other par t ies. 32 Call Forwarding Using the C all Forward ing featur e, you can forwar d an inco ming call to another ph one. When this feature is in use, you can still make a call from your phon e. Note • You must subscribe to the Call Forwarding service to u se this fe a ture.
33 No te • Up to 20 missed c alls can b e stored in the ph one mem ory. I f more th an 20 misse d cal ls are receiv ed, the earliest cal l log will b e aut om aticall y replac ed with the n ew one. • Unanswe red calls in the Ca l l Waiting servi c e c a n be recorded in the list of missed calls.
34 Prepend Dialing This feature allows you to add additional num ber(s) (e.g. area code, pauses) be fore the phon e number s tored in you r phone bo ok. 1. Press [MENU] to di splay the Main menu. 2. Press to select Pho ne Book. 3. Search f or the desir ed number to be prepended .
35 Four-digi t Dial ing By pres sing only t he last four d igits of a p hone number , you can quickly recall m atch ed entries and then dial. 1. Dial a ny four con tinuous di gits. 2. Press . The matched phone number will be re called. 3. Press to dial.
36 Pause Dialing When you call automated sy s tems (like bankin g s erv ices ), you are often r equired to enter a password or account n umber. Instead of manually entering the numbers each time, you can store th e numbers i n your pho ne book, separated by special characters called paus es.
37 Dial ing a Phone Num ber Stored with a T i med Pause Dial th e phone number with a Timed pau se by reca lling the phone book ent ry. Two seconds aft er t he connection i s established, t he Tim ed p ause w ill be transmit ted. Dial ing a Phone Number Stored with a Hard Pause 1.
38 Diali ng the Phone Number by Entering the Pause Ma nu ally 1. Enter the pho ne number of th e serv ice you want to ca ll (exampl e: bank’s teleser vice phone number (an 80 0 number) ). 2. 39 Data /F ax T ransmis sion Using this feature, you can send and receive faxes and data by connectin g your pho ne with a PC. Your p hone comes equipped w ith a Phone B ook utili ty ("Mobile Phone Manag er Software") which is used to transmit d ata between your pho ne and a PC.
