Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted Under standing this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow the same order as the menus and sub-menus in your Samsu ng Glyde™. A robust index for quick refere nce to most features begins on page 149.
5 Using A Non-Su ppor ted Batt er y Samsung handsets do not accep t the use of a non-supported battery . When using a non-supported battery , you will hear a series of beeps and you will see a warn ing message that indicates: “ NON SUPPORTED BA TT ERY .
Getting Started 6 2. Insert the top end of th e ba ttery into the phone housing using the dir ectional arrow prin ted on the batter y . The gold contacts at the batter y end m ust align with contacts on the phone. Push bottom e nd of the battery do wn until it snaps into place.
7 R emo ving the Batter y 1. Push the top of the battery cover forward. Lift the bottom of the batte ry cove r to remove it. 2. Lift the ba ttery from the bottom end and remove . 3. Insert the top of the ba tter y cover down into the corresponding slots (positione d on each side of the headset cove r).
Getting Started 8 Using the Memor y Card Ins tall ing t he Memor y Car d 1. Push the top of the ba ttery co ver forward. Lift the bott om of the batt ery cove r to remove it. 2. Insert the mem ory card i n the memor y card slot full y until it clicks into place.

Getting Started 10 T ravel Charger The travel char ger is a convenie nt, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your Glyde™ from any 120/ 220 V AC outlet. 1. T urn the connector cover to ac cess the charger port. In sert the travel charger adapter end into the charging port on the left s ide of the Glyde™.
11 Locki ng and Unloc king the Display Press the Power/Lock/Unlo ck key briefly on the side of the phone to lock th e display whil e the backlight is on. The backlight will turn off after 15 secon ds (default) of non-use and automati cally lock the display .

Understanding Y our Phone 14 Closed View of Y our Phone The following illustra tion shows the main e xternal features o f your phone. Phone Exte r nal Features 1. Speaker : Music, Ringtones, and Sounds are play ed through the speaker . These speakers provide stereo sound for multimedia files.
15 8. Vo l u me k e y : Adjusts the master volume or adjust s the voice volume during a call. T o mute the ringer during an incoming call, pre ss the volu me key up or down. Also, press and hold the key to activate So und Off mo de/Norm al mode. 9. Camera/Camcorder key : Press to activate the camera, or press and hold to ac tivate the camcorder .
Understanding Y our Phone 16 QWER TY Keyboard Featur es 1. QWER TY Keyboard: Provides an alphanumeric charact er keyboard layo ut. 2. Shift Key : T oggles the casing fo r alphabet characters between mixed case, uppercase and lowercase. Case will remain as sele cted until t he Shift key is pressed again.
17 Hom e Screen Lay out Understand ing the Hom e Screen 1. The Annunciator Line , which is the top line of your phone’ s display , shows icons that indi cate network status, batter y power , signal str ength, connection type and more. 2. The Dial Pad butto n allows yo u to access the touch keypad for dial ing numbers.
Understanding Y our Phone 18 Ann unciato r icons Standalone Mode : Appears when Standalone Mode is on. When on, all RF functions for your phone are disabled, and you cannot use your phone to place or receive calls. Roaming : Y our phone is outside your home area.
19 Eve nt Status Bar and Ev ent Mana ger The Event Status bar appears on the botto m of the Home screen display . If an i con is illumi nated in color on the front display , it indi cates a recent event for that function. T apping on the bar activates the Event Manager menu.

T a p the icons or text in the Ev ent Manager menu to perform the action sho wn in the illustra tion below. 21 Menu Screen Layout The Samsung Glyde™ use s a touch screen that displays menus, sub-menus and other icon s for operatio n of the p hone. When you access menus and appl ications on the phone, th e top icons (signal strength, battery level, e tc.

Call Button Enter a number and tap to make a call. T ap to pick up a waiting ca ll while al ready on a call.

Call Functions 30 Section 4: Call Functions This section describes how to make, answer or end a call . It also inc ludes the features and function ality associated with making, answering or ending a call. Making a Call 1. From the Home s creen, tap Dial P ad .

Note: If the phone number is saved in your Contacts, the icon to the right of the number will be represented by the appropria te icon ( Mobile , Work , Home , etc.

39 3. Say “Send T ext” or “Send Pict ure” or “Send Video” at a distance of 3-12 inches from the microphone. “Please say the name or number” plays throug h the speakerphone. 4. Say the na me exactly as it is disp layed in y our Contac ts list, or say the phone num be r of the rec ipient.

43 Section 5: Understanding Y our Contacts This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address Book. Contacts Icons The following table shows the various contact icons. Adding a Contact When you ad d informatio n to your Contacts, you can add it as a new entry or as an existing entry .
Understanding Y our Contacts 44 4. T ap the appropriate f ield ( Mobile 1 , Home , Wo rk , Email 1 , etc.) to input a num ber . Once highlighted, use the touch keypad or QWER TY keyboard to enter required i nformatio n . 5. T o assign a Speed Dial location after entering the number , tap .
45 6. If you selecte d Add New Contact , t he followi ng types are available. 7. T ap the desired entr y type ( Mobile 1 , Mobile 2 , Home , Wor k , etc .). 8. Ta p t h e Name field to ent er a name for the entr y using the touch keypad. T ap if you wi sh to select a di fferent method of text entry , such as Word, Abc, ABC, 123, or Symbols.

47 Add a New Membe r to a Group Once you have selected the desi red group, you can ad d Contacts from your Contact List to th at group, using the following procedure: 1. From the Groups menu, tap the group type. The current members of that gr oup display .

65 Creating and Sending Video Messages Video Message combines text, a nd video creating a n intuitive message. This is also known as Multimedia Messaging (MMS). Note: The QWERTY keyboard is recommended for creating video messages. 1. With the slide open fro m the Home screen, tap Messagin g .

At the “ RE-ENTER N EW CODE ” prompt, re-enter lock code and tap . “ PHONE ONL Y CO DE SET ” or “ CALLS & S ERVICES CODE SET ” message a ppears in the di splay confirming that your lock code was changed. Note: Y our Glyde™ does not allow you to view the lock code for security reasons.

Wa rning! : Choosing the Restore Phone option will return your Glyde™ to the default settings and erase all user data inc luding pictures, videos, music, messages, contacts and downloaded a pplications stored on the phone.
