Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted Understanding this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow the same order as the menus and sub-menus in your Samsung Glyde™. A robust index for quick refere nce to most features begins on page 140.
5 Using A No n-Suppor ted Bat ter y Samsung handsets do not accept the use of a non-supported battery . When using a non-supported battery , you will hear a series of beeps and you will see a warn ing message that indicates: “ NON SUPPORTED BA TTERY .
Getting Started 6 2. Insert the top end of the ba ttery into the phone housing using the directional arrow prin ted on the battery . The gold contacts at the batter y end m ust align with contacts on the phone. Push bottom e nd of the battery down until it snaps into place.
7 R emo ving the Batter y 1. Push the top of the battery cover forward. Lift the bottom of the batter y cove r to remove it. 2. Lift the batter y from the bot tom end and remove. 3. Insert the top of the batt ery cove r down into the corresponding slots (positione d on each side of the headset cover).

Getting Started 10 Locking and Unloc king the Display Press the Power/Lock/Unlock key briefly on the side of the phone to lock the display while th e backlight is on. The backlight will turn off after 15 seconds (defau lt) of non-use and automaticall y lock the display.

Understanding Y our Phon e 12 Closed View of Y our Phone The following illustration shows the main external features of your phone. Phone Exter n al Featur es 1. Speaker : Music, Ringtones, and Sounds are played through the speaker . These speakers provide stereo sound for multimedia files.
13 8. Vol u m e ke y : Adjusts the master volume or adjusts the voice volume during a call. T o mute the ringer during an incoming call, press the vol u me key up or down. Also, press and hold the key to ac tivate Sound Off m ode/Normal mode. 9. Camera/Camcorder key : Press to activate the camera, or press and hold to ac tivate the camcorder .
Understanding Y our Phon e 14 QWERTY K eyboard Featur es 1. QWER TY Keyboard: Provides an alphanumeric character keyboard layout. 2. Shift Key : T oggles the casing fo r alphabet characters between mixed case, uppercase and lowercase. Case will remain as selecte d until the Shift k ey is pressed again.

The Annunciator Lin e , which is the top line of your phone’ s display , shows icons that indi cate network status, battery power , signal strength, connection type and more. 2. The Dial Pad button allows yo u to access the touch keypad for dialing number s.
Understanding Y our Phon e 16 Annun ciator icons Standalone Mode : Appears when Standalone Mode is on. When on, all RF functions for your phone are disabled, and you cannot use your phone to place or receive calls. Roaming : Y our phone is outside your home area.
17 Event Sta tus Bar and Ev ent Manager The Event Status bar appears on the bottom of the Home screen display . If an icon is illumina ted in color o n the front display , it indica tes a recent event for that functi on. T ouching on the bar ac tivates the Event Manager menu.

T ouch the icons or te xt in the Event Manager menu to perform the action shown in t he illustration belo w. Note: Icons on the Event Status bar and Event Manager screen will be in color to indicate new and upcoming events.
19 Menu Screen Layout The Samsung Glyde™ uses a touch screen that displays menus, sub-menus and other icons for operati on of the phon e. When you access menus and appl ications on the phone, the top icons (signal strength, battery level, etc.
Understanding Y our Phon e 20 End Button The bu tton is used to end a call. Note: Y ou may also press the Home key to end a call. Answ er Button The button is used to ac tivate or answer calls. Call Button Enter a number and touch to make a cal l. T ouch to pick up a waiting call while alre ady on a call.

27 Section 4: Call Functions This section describes ho w to make, answer or end a c all. It also includes the features and functional ity associa ted with making, answering or en ding a call. Making a Call 1. From the Home screen, touch Dial Pad . The touch keypad displays.

Note: If the phone number is saved in your Contacts, the icon to the right of the number will be represented by the appropriate icon ( Mobile , Work , Home , etc.
Call Functions 32 Note: No more than 10 contacts may be added to any group. 11. T o assign a Speed Dial location, touch the scroll bar to highlight the numbe r you would like to assign. T ouch and select the Set Speed Dial option. 12. T ouch an unassigned locati on.

35 3. “Please say the name, number , voic e mail or last number” plays through th e speaker . 4. T o use Digit Dialing, say th e area code and number you want to dial into the mi cro phone, clearly and naturally . -or- T o use Name Dialing, say the na me of one of your Contac ts you want to dial.

37 • Messages : Displays and announces the number of new voi cemail, TXT , and Picture message s. • Missed Call s : Displays the missed call log. •T i m e : Displays and announce s the current time. • Signal Strength : Display s and announces the curr ent EVDO and 1x signal strength levels.
Call Functions 38 Note: This features launches the browser to your account page, and requires a data plan and is subject to Verizon Wireless data coverage. 1. Fro m My Shortcuts menu, touch Voice Com mands . A list of commands appears in the display and the audio prompt “Please say a comm and” plays through the speakerphone.
39 Section 5: Understanding Y our Contacts This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address Book. Contacts Icons The following table shows the various contact icons. Adding a Contact When you add in formatio n to your Contacts, you can add it as a new entry or as an exist ing entry .

Use the QWERTY keyboard to enter the phone number or Email address of the recipien t, or touch the Contacts button (to the right of the To field) to select up to 10 contacts as recipients. Messaging 60 Creating and Sending Video Messages Video Messa ge combines text, and video creat ing an intuitive message. This is also known as Multimedia Messaging (MMS). Note: The QWERTY keyboard is recommended for creating video messages. 1. With the slid e open from th e Home screen, to uch Messaging .

Warning!: Choosing the Restore Phone option will return your Glyde™ to the default settings and erase all user data including pictures, videos, music, messages, contacts and downloaded applica tions stored on the phone.

91 Formatting a microSD™ Car d using your PC For best p layback of songs st ored to the microSD™ memor y card, you should reformat your memory card with PC format F A T32. Note: Any content currently stored on the microSD™ memory card will be lost when this procedure is performed.
