Cover Lock Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your camera by f irst configuring your hardware, acti vating your service, and then setting up Google and Samsung accounts. Setting Up Y our Camera Prior to use it is necessa ry to install both t he battery a nd SIM into their cor responding internal compart ments.

Installing and R emo ving the Memor y Car d Y ou can use a micr oSD (SD) or microSDHC card to expand available memory space if you desire. This secure digital card enables you to exchange images, music, and data between SD-compatible devices. This type of memory card is designed for use with this ca mera and other devices.
Closing the Batter y Compar tment 1. Close the batter y compartment door . 2. Slide the cover lock to the Right as sho wn below.. Note: Make sure the batter y is properly installed and the cover is securely closed before switching o n the camera. Charging a Batter y Y our device is po wered by a re chargeable Li-ion ba ttery.
( ) ( ) 1. Rem ove the plastic cover , then plug the flat end of the T ra vel Charger into the Power/Acces sory Interface connector and the other end into a standard AC wall outlet. 2. When char ging is finished, remove the fla t end from the interface connector jack on the camera.
When the ba ttery leve l becomes too lo w , the camera automatic ally turns off. Switching the Camera On or Off 1. P ress and hold until the camera switches on. 2. S wipe your fing er across the screen to unlock the camera. Note: The display language is preset to English at the factory .

Displays when a Software upda te is availabl e for download. Displays when your device is connected being used to control streaming media and is connected to a Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified device using the AllShare Play a pplication.
Calendar : With the Calendar a pplica tion, you can consult the calendar by day , week, month, year , create events, and set an alarm to act as a reminder , if necessary. F or more informa tion, refer to “Calendar” on page 118. Camera : Use your 16.
Galler y : The Gallery is where you vi ew photos and play back videos. For photos, you c an also perform basic editing tasks, view a slide show, set photos as wallpaper or contact i mage, and share as a picture message. For more informatio n, refer to “Galler y” on page 63.
Latitude : With Google Latitude, you can see the location of all of your fr iends on a map or on a list. Y ou can also share or hide y our location . For more information , refer to “Latitude” on page 126. Local : Local is an applicati on that uses Google Maps and your location to help yo u find Restaurants, Cafes, Bars, Attractions , and more.
Play Magazines : With Google Play Magazines, you can subscribe to yo ur favorite ma gazine s and have them availabl e to re ad on your c amera at any time or any place.
h Video Editor : Allows you to edit your videos. For more information , refer to “Video Editor” on pa ge 65. Vid eo Pl ay er : The Video Player applica tion plays video files stor ed on your microSD card . For more inf ormat ion, refer to “Video Player” on page 62.

T o ac tivate motion: 1. From the Home screen, press and then tap Settings ➔ Motion . 2. T ap the ON /OFF icon I located a t the top of the screen to activa te motion. 3. T ap the checkboxes located to the right of each motion option to activate the motions you wish.
Home Screen Ov er view The main home screen is the starting point for many applic ations and fu nctions, an d it allows you t o add item s like applica tion icons, shortcuts, folders, or Google widgets to give you instant access to inform ation and applica tions.

Customizing Y our Home Screen Y ou can customize your Home screen by doing the follo wing: • Creating Shor tcuts • Adding and Removing Wi dgets on the Home Screen • Repositionin g Widgets • Cr.
As you place the shortcut into the T rash, both items turn red. Note: This action does not d elete th e shortcut, it just removes it from the current screen. Adding and R emo ving P rimar y Shor tcuts Y ou can change any of your primary shortcuts with the exception of the Apps shortcut.
Note: This action does not actually delete the Widget, it just removes it from the current Home screen. Mo v ing Icons in the Apps M enu 1. Press to activate the main Home screen . 2. Adding a New Pag e to the Applica tion Menu Y ou can add a new page to your application menu by following th ese steps: 1. Pr ess to activate the main Home screen. 2. T ap to display your current applications. 3. Ta p t h e Apps tab at the top of the screen if it is not already selected.
Clear Button Settings Clearing Notifications T o clear all notifica tions from the Notification panel: 1. From the Home scr een, tou ch and hold the Notification Bar until the pull-down displays, then drag down vertically . 2. Ta p t h e Clear button.

Y our SD card is scanned to see the a vailable information on it . Unmounting the SD card Unmounting the SD card prevents corruption and damage to the SD card while removing it from the slot.
Section 3: Camera Operation This section describes how to use your Camera and Camcorder to take pictures or shoot videos. Camera This section explains how to us e the camera on your camera. Y ou can take photogra phs and shoot video by using the built- in camera functionality .

Camera Modes There are three camera modes that you can use depending on the conditions and your experience: Auto, Smart, and Expert.
– Pan o ra m a : Use this to take wide panoramic photos. Press the Shutter button to take a photo, and then move the cam era in any direction. When the blue fra me aligns with the preview screen, t he camera auto maticall y takes anot her shot in t he panoramic sequence.
Activate or deactivate the sharing options. Activate or deactivate the vo ice control to tak e photos. Configure Ca mera settings. Hide Quick settings. Camera and Camcorder Settings This section describes the differen t settings that you can configure on your camera.
•O I S ( a n t i - s h a k e ) : Activate or deactivate Optical Im age Stabilisation. OIS helps focu s when the camera is moving. • Smart scene : Use this for taking videos with a scene mo de selected automatically by the camera . •S o u n d : Use this option f or enabli ng or dis abling the zoom sound.
Viewing your Pictures After you take a photo, you can access various options from the Image Viewer . The Image Viewer uses your Galler y . For more informa tion, refer t o “Gallery” on pa ge 63. Using the Camcorder In addition to taking photos, the camera also doubles as a camcorder that also allo ws yo u to record, view , and send videos .
Viewing y our Videos After you take a video, you can access various options from the Image Viewer . The Image Viewer uses your Gallery and the Video Player . For more information, refer to “Gallery” on page 63. Also, see “Video Player” on page 62.

Changing the T e xt Input Mode - K eypad There are two main keypa d layout keys that will change the on-screen keys within the QWERTY keypad. The available T ext Input modes are: Sym and Abc . Symbol/Numeric Mode : activates th e number , symbol, and emoticon keys.
Using Symbol/Numeric Mode Pr edictive T ext Use Symbol/Numeric Mode to add numbers, symbol s, or By using the Predictive T ext op tion, you can have next-letter emoticons. prediction and regional error correction, which compensa tes 1. 4. At the Speak now prompt, speak clearly and distinctly into the microphone. 5. If the red microphone turns gray , then the feature has timed out and you should ta p the microphone icon to start again. The text is displayed in the messa ge as you are speaking.

Editing an Existing Contact 2. J oining Contacts J oining Contact Infor mation Many people no w maintain multiple emai l accounts, social networking logins, and other sim ilar account information. For example, a Facebook account logi n name might differ from a corporate email account login because they a re maintained separately and for differ ent groups of people.
Unjoining a Contact 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts . 2. T ap a contact name (the ac count name from which you want to unlink an entry). Note : typically this is the same contact with a differ ent na me or account information. 3. Ta p t h e Connection bar .
4. Ta p OK to synchronize all accounts. The accounts ar e synchronized. Address Book Options Y ou can access Addre ss Book options while at the main Address Book page or while in th e detai ls page for a specific entry . Options in Address Book 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts then press .
Options at Selected Contact Screen 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts . 2. T ap a contact and at the cont act’ s display s creen, press . 3. The following options are displayed: •H i s t o r y : allow s you to v iew the mes sage hi stor y for t he cont act.
4. T ap all of the contacts you want to remove from this group. A green checkmark will a ppear next to t heir name. 5. Ta p Done . The contacts are no w removed from the group. Creating a New Group 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts ➔ Groups Groups ➔ ➔ Create .
R emo ving Fa v orites from your Address Book 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts . 2. Within the Contacts list, touch and hold a contact th at you want to remove fr om your favori tes list. Contacts in your Favorites list will have a gold sta r .
4. T ap the contacts to place a checkmark adjacent to those entries you wish to have copied to your camera. • Repeat this step for all individual entrie s you wish copied to your camera or tap Select all to place a checkmark alongsid e all entries. 5.
Section 6: Multimedia This section explains how to us e the multimedia features of your camera, including A T&T Lo cker , Music Player , Google Play Music, Video Player , Play Movies & TV , Gallery , Photo Wizard, and Video Maker .

Music Play er Settings The Music Player Settings menu allows y ou to set preferences for the Music Player such as whether you want the music to play in the background, sound effects, and how the music menu displays. 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Music Pl ayer .
R emo ving M usic from a Playlist T o remov e music files from a playlist : 1. From the Home screen, ta p ➔ Music Player . 2. Ta p t h e Playlists tab.
Press and hold to rewind the video. T ap to go to previous video. Press and hold to fast-forward the video. T ap to go to next video. Vo lume con tr ol. PIP (Picture In Picture) view. T he video will be playe d in a small window so yo u can use your camera for other pu rposes whi le watching the video.
All of the Albums that hold your pictures and videos will be displayed with folder name and number of files. 2. T ap an Album and thumbnails of th e contents will be displayed.

Using Gmail Gmail is Google’ s web-based email. When you first setup the camera, Gmail is configured. Depending on the synchronizati on settings, Gmail is automatica lly synchronized with your Gmail account. Section 8: Changin g Y our Settings This section explains the settin gs used for customizing your device. Accessing Settings From any Home screen, tap ➔ Settings . – or – From any Home screen, press ➔ Settings . The Settings screen d isplays.
Bluetooth settings In this menu you can activate Bluetooth, view or assign a device name, activate your camera so other Blu etooth devices can discover it, o r scan for other , a vailable Bluetooth devices with which to pair . Activ ating Bluetooth 1.

Mobile netw orks Before you use applica tions such as Google Maps and find your location or sear ch for places of interest, you must enable the Mobile networks options. Mobile data T o ena ble data access over the mobile network, this option must be selected.
Default setup options Y our camera default is set to Automatic (to automatically search for an avail able network. Y ou can set this option to Manual to select a network each time you connect. ➔ Settings ➔ More settings ➔ Mobile networks . 1. From the Home screen, tap 2.
Nearby de vices This option allows you to shar e your media files with nearby devices using DLNA and connected to th e same Wi-Fi. 1. C onnect to a Wi-Fi network. F or more information, refer to “Activating Wi-Fi” on page 71. 2. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Setting s ➔ More settings ➔ Nearby devices .
4. Make s ure you and the device you want to share with are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. For mor e informatio n, refer to “Connect to a Wi-Fi Network” on page 106. Y our camer a automatically scans for other com patible devices. 5. Follow the on-scre en instructions to connect with the TV .

Note: The Format SD card option is only available when your SD card is mounted. Powe r Power Saving Mode allows you to manage your camera to conserve power . 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Setting s ➔ Pow e r . 2. Ta p t h e OFF / ON i co n n e x t t o Power saving mode to turn Power saving mode on I .
2. Ta p Downloaded , Running , or All to display memor y usage for that c ategory of applications. The graph at the bottom of the Downloaded tab shows used and free device memory . The graph at the bottom of the Running tab shows used and free RAM. Downloaded Displays apps you have do wnloaded onto your device.
•R e p o r t : Report failure and other application information. Note: Options vary by applica tion. Location Ser vices The Location ser vices settings allow you to set up how the camera will determine your loca tion and the sensor settings for your camera.
1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Settings ➔ Lock screen ➔ Lock screen o ptions . 2. The following opti ons are availa ble: •C l o c k allows you to display th e digital clock while the Lock screen is active. Enabled by default. •D u a l c l o c k displays a set of dual digital clock on the L ock screen while you a re traveling.

De vic e Ad minis trato rs The Device Administration feat ure allows you to select one or more administration a pplications that control your device for security purposes (for example, if your camera is lost of stolen).
The trusted credentials screen has two tabs: • System : Displays CA certificates that are permanently installe d in the ROM of your device . •U s e r : Displays any CA ce rtificates that you installed, for example, in the proce ss of in stalling a client certificate.
Language Y ou can change the language used by your device by following th ese steps: ➔ Settings ➔ Language and input ➔ Language . 1. From the Home screen, tap 2. T ap a la nguage from the list. K eyboards and Input Methods Y ou can change the keyboard used by your device by following th ese steps: 1.
• Inp ut lang uage sets the input language. T ap a language from • Character preview provides an autom atic preview of the the available list. The keyboa rd is updated to the sele cted current character selection within the text string. This is helpful language.
6. Ta p t h e Word comple tion point field to set h ow many letters should be entered before a prediction is made. 7. Ta p t h e Spell corre ction field. This option corrects typographical erro rs by selecting from a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you tapped as well as the characters of nearby keys.
4. Ta p T ext-to-spee ch output and select Google T ext- to- speech Engine or Samsung TTS . 5. T ap next to the preferred TTS engine config ure the following settings: • Language : allows you to set the lan guage for spoken text. • Settings for Google T ext-to-speech Engine : allows you to view Open So urce Licens es.
2. Ta p Backup accoun t and tap your Google Gmail account or tap Add account to set your Google Gmail account to be backed up to the Google ser ver . A utoma tic R estore By setting this option, when you reinstall an a pplication, all of your backed up settings and data will be rest ored.
R emo ving an Acc ount Important! Removing an account also deletes all of it s messages, contacts, and other da ta from the device. 1. From a Home screen, tap ➔ Settings . 2. T ap the account which is located in the Accounts section. 3. T a p the accoun t name.
• Sensitivity settings : allows you to access ad ditional settings for Gyroscope calibration, Pan to move icon, and Pan to browse images. • Learn about motions : provides additional help on using the different motions. • Palm swipe to capture : Once enabled, you can capture a ny on-scree n inform ation swi ping acro ss the sc reen.
5. Ta p Set tim e and tap the up and down arrows to set t he Hour , Minute , and PM / AM , then tap Set . 6. Ta p Select time zone , then tap a time zone. 7. O ptional: T ap Use 24-hour fo rmat . If this is not select ed the camera automatically uses a 12-hour forma t.
9. Ta p t h e T ext-t o-speech output field to adjust your text- to-speech sett ings. For more informat ion, refer to “Speech Settings” on page 89. 10. Ta p Enhance web accessibility if want to allow ap ps to install scripts from Google that make their Web content more accessible.
• Show pointer location : Highlights the data that was touched on the screen. • Show layout boundaries : displays clip bounds, m argins, etc. • Show GPU view updates : flashes views inside w indows when drawn with GPU. • Show screen updates : Areas of the screen flash wh en they update.
• Status : displays the battery status, the level of the battery (percentage), network, sig nal strength, mobile network type, service state, roaming, mobile netwo rk state, the phone number for this device, ERI version , IMEI number , IP address, Wi-Fi MAC address, Bl uetooth address, Serial nu mber , Up time, and Device status.
5. When updating software, once the update file is downloaded, you can delay the update on the start screen by postponing it for a certain perio d of time.
Section 9: Connections This sect ion descri bes the var i ous connect ions your camera can make including accessing the Internet with your Browser , Wi-F i, Bluetooth, and Connecting your PC.
