ENG-7 S ETUP Disc T ype and Characteristics This DVD-VCR is capable of playing the following types of discs with the corresponding logos: 5” 3 1/2” Single-sided 240 min. Double-sided 480 min. ENG-11 Chapter 2 C ONNECTIONS Connecting the Antenna Cable There are several ways to connect your DVD-VCR. Select one of the following antenna connections that best suits you below .
ENG-12 C ONNECTIONS Method2: Antenna + DVD-VCR + TV : Cable box with many scrambled channels Y ou can record channels by selecting the channel on the cable box. Y ou cannot record one channel while watching another channel. Be sure that the cable box is turned on.
ENG-13 C ONNECTIONS Before Connecting the DVD-VCR - Always turn off the DVD-VCR, TV , and other components before you connect or disconnect any cables. - Refer to the user ’ s manual of the additional components (such as a TV) you are connecting for more information on those particular components.
ENG-14 C ONNECTIONS Connection to a TV (S-V ideo) - Connecting to your TV using an S-V ideo cable. - Y ou will enjoy high quality images. S-Video separates the picture element into black and white(Y) and color(C) signals to present clearer images than regular video input mode.

ENG-16 C ONNECTIONS Connection to a TV (Progressive) 1 Using component video cables (not included), connect the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT terminal on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the COMPONENT IN terminal of your TV .
ENG-17 C ONNECTIONS Connecting to a TV with HDMI Jack 1 Using the HDMI-HDMI cable connect the HDMI OUT terminal on the rear of the DVD player to the HDMI IN terminal of your TV . 2 Press the input selector on your TV remote control until the HDMI signal from the DVD player appears on your TV screen.
ENG-18 C ONNECTIONS • HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) HDMI is an interface to enable the digital transmission of video and audio data with just a single connector . Using HDMI, the DVD player transmits a digital video and audio signal and displays a vivid picture on a TV having an HDMI input jack.
ENG-19 C ONNECTIONS Connection to an Audio System Connection to an Audio System (2 Channel Amplifier) 1 Using the audio cables, connect the (LINE) AUDIO (red and white) OUT terminals on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the AUDIO (red and white) IN terminals of the Amplifier .
ENG-20 C ONNECTIONS Connection to an Audio System (Dolby digital, MPEG2 or DTS Amplifier) 1 Using a coaxial or an optical cable (not included), connect the DIGIT AL AUDIO OUT (COAXIAL) or DIGIT AL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) terminal on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the DIGIT AL AUDIO IN (COAXIAL) or DIGIT AL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL) terminal of the Amplifier .

ENG-35 DVD O PERA TIONS Note T o access the desired title when there is more than one in the disc. For example, if there is more than one movie on a DVD, each movie will be identified. Most DVD discs are recorded in chapters so that you can quickly find a specific passage (similar to tracks on an audio CD).

ENG-42 DVD O PERA TIONS If you are using a 4:3 TV For 16:9 aspect ratio discs - 4:3 Letter Box Displays the content of the DVD title in 16:9 aspect ratio. The black bars will appear at the top and bottom of the screen. - 4:3 Pan Scan The left and right portions of the screen are cut off and the central portion of the 16:9 screen is displayed.

ENG-51 DVD O PERA TIONS Program Play & Random Play Y ou can listen to songs randomly or in the desired sequence. Up to 20 tracks can be programmed. This function is available only with Audio CDs. Program Play 1 With the unit in stop mode , press the REPEA T button.

ENG-53 DVD O PERA TIONS JPEG Discs When playing a CD-R/Picture CD - Only files with the “ .jpg ” and “ .JPG ” extensions can be played. - If the disc is not closed, it will take longer to start playing and not all of the recorded files may be played.

T o re-record over a protected cassette (safety tab broken), cover the hole with adhesive tape. Basic Recording Y ou can record a TV show in progress by inserting a blank tape and pressing the REC button.

ENG-81 VCR O PERA TIONS Using a T imer Recording Insert a blank videotape into the VCR deck. Be sure to leave the Record Safety T ab intact. With the T imer Recording function, you can program up to 7 events at a time to record up to a month in advance.
