7 Disc terminolo g y x Titles and chapters ΰ DVD-video discs α DVD video discs are divided into sever al lar g e sections called “titles” and smaller sections called “chapters” . Numbers are allotted to these sections. These number s are called “title numbers” and “chapter numbers” .

12 Connections Speaker system connection The speaker system is color coded for easy setup. Each speaker has two color coded sprin g type connectors located at the rear of its case. Y ou will be connecting each speaker to the player using with corresponding color coded speaker cables.
13 Connections Antenna connections Connect the supplied AM/FM antennas for listenin g to the radio. x Connect the AM antenna to the AM terminals. x Connect the FM antenna to the Fm terminals.
14 Connections TV and optional component connections x Use the supplied audio cables to connect AUDIO IN j acks to the correspondin g AUDIO OUT j acks on the television, VCR or other audio/visual components. x Use the supplied audio cables to connect AUDIO OUT jacks to the correspondin g AUDIO IN j acks on the television, tape or CD recorders.
15 Basic setup Setting up the surround sound system Y ou must connect all the speaker s and setup the system properly in order to en j oy the di g ital cinema experience at home. Note: Use the test tone mode to check the balance level and connections of your speakers.
16 Basic setup Initial settings This system is designed with a user -friendly setup menu. Use the section to take y ou throu g h the system and disc setup options and recommendations. Using the setup menu Press the SETUP button on your remote control unit to display the setup menu.
17 Basic setup DOWNMIX setting This settin g will aff ect the audio output si g nal when playing DVD discs recorded with surround multi-chan nel audio.
18 Basic setup Selecting the dynamic range Dynamic range compression, a f unction used to compress the dynamic r ange (reproduction level r ange) of audio si g nals, can be selected for Dolby Di g ital mode. It is used for viewin g DVD discs late at ni g ht or at other times when high volume levels are not desir able.
19 Basic setup Changing the parental control password T o change the parental control password use the setup menu, select prefer ences to access the password menu. Press the ENTER/SET button to enter the old passwor d “9999” . (“XXXX” will appear as you enter the numbers).

21 Playback functions Search to locate a point quickly While playing a disc, use the TUNE or TUNE but tons to fast forwar d and fast reverse, scrolling through the speeds to get back to normal play (see below) or use the / button to return to the normal forwar d playback immediately .
22 Playback functions A-B repeat playback Use this function to play a specif ic portion in a chapter or track r epeatedly . This is useful to memorize lyrics or watch a portion of a disc over and over . PLAY/PAUS E STOP REPEAT A-B PROGRAM NUMBER BUTTONS 1.
23 Playback functions Selecting a start point by chapter or time code This player off ers different ways of accessing the information on DVD or Video CD discs. / DISPLAY GOTO NUMBER BUTTONS Use the GO TO button on the r emote control unit to search for titles or chapters on a DVD disc, tr acks on a VCD disc, or to select the time to start playback.
24 Playback functions When playing an MP3 encoded CD disc : 1. Press the DISPLAY button once to display Single Elapsed time. 2. Press the DISPLAY button a second time to display Single Remaining time. 3. Press the DISPLAY button a third time to select display function off .
25 Special functions Picture zoom This function allows you to enlar ge the picture on the television scr een and to pan through the enlarged image. A NGLE ZOOM 1. Press the ZOOM button repeatedly to select the following magnif ication factors: ZOOM X1.
26 Special functions Selecting the subtitle language This function is av ailable for DVD discs recorded with subtitles in multiple-languages. A UDIO(ST/MO ) SETUP ENTER&SET SUBTITLE While playing DVD discs, press the SUBTITLE button once to display the current lan g ua g e selection.
27 Special functions Setting the audio mode for karaoke music When playin g karaoke or similarly formatted DVD discs , it is possible to select vocal audio, or either right or left channel depending on the disc.

29 Other functions Listening to an external source Y ou can listen to other audio component(s) connected to this system through your new speaker system. T o operate the audio c omponent which is connected to this system, press the SOURCE button repeatedly until “ AUX” appears on the front panel display .
