11 Safety Safet y belts Three-point inerti a-reel s afety bel ts are provided for all seats . The results of st udies show that it is eq ually important to wear s afety be lts in the rea r seat a s in t he front seats .

27 Safety The dr iver and p assenger front airbag s are triggered by vi olent front-en d cras hs. Th ey are not acti vated by m inor fron t-end impacts , if the car ov erturns or by rear- a nd side-impac ts. There are two impa ct sensors on the fron t bumper, un der the la cquere d shell.

30 Safety Front passenger se at The system is the same as that us ed on the driver’s sid e. The airbag systems ar e interco nnected and have a co mmon w arning l ight . The pas- senger airbag m odule is house d in t he fascia ab ove the glove c ompartment and i s marked "AIRBAG".
31 Safety Head protection The pilla r trim and hea dlining are designed to absor b energ y, soften ing poss ible blo ws to the head . After a crash, thes e items must be chan ged in the seat posit ions that w ere occupi ed.
32 Safety Infl at able cu rtai ns The infl atable curtai ns, whi ch pro tect th e head, are co nceal ed al ong the lengt hs of the headli ning (all the w ay from front to rear roof pil lars) . The infl atable curtai ns in flat e at th e same time as t he side airbags i n the front seats in case of a side-o n imp act.

55 Instruments and controls This ligh t will c ome on if the engin e oil pres- sure is to o low. If the wa rning ligh t flashes o r comes on while yo u are driving, stop im me- diately in a s afe place, sw itch o ff the en gine and che ck th e oil l evel (see p age 17 6).

59 Instruments and controls Instruments Tachometer The tachom eter displ ays the engine s peed in thousan ds of revolu tions per minut e. A protectiv e function (in terruption of the fuel supply ) limi ts the engin e spee d wi thin th e red zone . Odometer and trip meter The odometer rec ords the distance trav - elled in mil es on U.

I t receiv es infor- mation a bout vehic le speed from the ABS’s whee l s ens ors . Temperature gauge The tempe ratur e gaug e shows the t emper- ature of the cool ant .
61 Instruments and controls Turbo gauge The turbo gauge in dicates the air vo lume used fo r combusti on, which is equiva lent to the engi ne loa d. At low l oads and when the engine is used for braking, the ne edl e will move with in the white zone.

77 Instruments and controls When the washer flu id level drops below 1 quart (1 litre), the headl ight was hers a re deactiv ated. This is in order to prioriti ze the winds hield.

83 Instruments and controls This bu tton is loca ted un der the fan speed control. Always switch o ff the hea ting as soon a s the rear win dow is free from ic e and mis t. It will be turned off automatical ly after 12 minutes. Refrain from p lacin g sha rp obje cts o n the parcel sh elf, to avoid dam aging the hea ting element .

The temp erat ure in the rea r seat will be a mixture of the two zones . If you c hoose the sing le zo ne se tting, t he entire c abin i s treat ed as one zone .
