The term “power tool” in all of the warn- ings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

5 SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Using water or other liquid coolants may result in elec- trocution or shock. KICKBACK AND RELA TED W ARNINGS Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other accessory .

9 EXTENSION CORDS When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a power source, be sure to use an extension cord that has the capacity to handle the current the tool will draw . An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in overheating and loss of power .

11 KNO W YOUR MUL TI-PURPOSE GRINDER See Figure 1. The safe use of this product requir es an understanding of the information on the product and in this operator’ s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you a re attempting. Befor e use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules.
12 ASSEMBL Y Fig. 2 To TiGHTen Side HAndle WARNING: The side handle must always be used to help prevent loss of control and possible serious injury . INST ALLING THE SIDE HANDLE See Figure 2. Unplug the tool. Insert the side handle into the desir ed operating position.

The lock -off /lock -on butt on pr eve nts acci denta l star tin g of the grinder , and also allows the grinder to be locked-on, which is convenient for continuous grinding/sanding/polishing for extended periods of time.
14 OPERA TION WARNING: Before performing any adjustment, make sure the tool is unplu gged from the power supply and the switch is in the OFF position. Failure to heed this warning could r esult in serious personal injury . GUARD ADJUSTMENT See Figure 6 - 8.
15 OPERA TION WARNING: T o prevent loss of control and possible serious personal injury , always operate the grinder with both hands, keep- ing one hand on the side handle. Move the grinder continuously at a steady , consistent pace. CAUTION: If the grind er is held in one spot too long, it will goug e and cut grooves in the workpiece.
16 OPERA TION INST ALLING SANDING DISC See Figure 11. Before installing the sanding disc, the rubber disc must be installed on the tool. If the grinding wheel and guar d are on the tool, they must be removed first. Follow the steps in Installing Rubber Disc before pr oceeding.
17 OPERA TION Do not sand too long in one spot. This will cause uneven sanding and gouging of the work. Upon completion of a sanding operation, lift tool away from work surface before turning off. WARNING: Sanding disc must come to a complete stop before setting tool down on workbench.
18 Surfaces that have an old film of wax or polish, or that have not been polished or waxed for an extended period of time, may requir e a second application. This is especially true on oxidized surfaces. Heavily oxidized surfaces should be cleaned with a commercial paste or liquid cleaner before polishing or waxing.

21 MAINTENANCE REPLACING BRUSHES See Figure 17. This product has exter nally accessible brush assemblies that should be periodically checked for wear . Unplug the tool. With a flat head screwdriver , remove the brush caps. The brush assembly is spring loaded and will pop out when you remove the brush cap.
