14 Upgrading the P roduc t Updating the camera ’ s rm ware When you rst a ttach the camera unit to the camer a body , the version update function will star t automatically if the rm ware of the camera ’ s body need to be updat ed. In such case, upda te the rmw are of the camer a ’ s body using the follo wing procedure .
15 2 T urn on the camera. • A conrmation message about updating the rm ware appears . 3 P ress the F n1/Fn2 buttons t o selec t [ Y es] and then press the MENU/ OK button. • The rmw are ’ s update begins and the f ollowing messages appear on the picture display .

17 Shooting Macro F unc tions The Macro Shooting , Macro T arget, Aut o Macro , and M inimum Shooting Distance Display during Macro Shooting functions are not a vailable with the A12 28mm F2.
18 Mode P: Pr ogram Shift The diagr am on the follo wing page gives estimates of the shift range f or various combinations of aperture values and shutter speeds . The ac tual values may vary depending on E V (exposur e value). In these examples, the ash mode is set to [F lash O ], and the ISO setting is set to [ISO200].

20 Mode M: Manual Exposure If [Aut o] or [A uto -Hi] is selected for ISO Setting, ISO will be x ed at 200 while the camera is in manual exposur e mode.

25 [Noise Reduction] S etting (Shooting Menu) P er form noise reduction when tak ing photogr aphs. Choose from [ O ], [A uto], [ W eak], [Strong], or [MA X]. The time requir ed to recor d images varies with the option selected. Y ou cannot use this function when [Portrait], [Spor ts], or [Skew Corr ec t Mode] is selec ted f or the scene mode.
26 [ISO Setting] S etting (Shooting Menu) • When [A uto] is selected and the ash is used, the sensitivity used will gain up to ISO800 equivalent . • When [A uto] is selected and the ash is not used, the minimum and maximum values f or the ISO sensitivity will be 200 and 400, respectively , regar dless of the pixel size (pix els).
27 [Enlrg Displa y] (Shooting Menu) If you mov e the target with the dir ection keys (+/-/F n1/F n2) and press and hold down the MENU/OK button, the tar get position will be magnied, allowing y ou to check the f ocus. By pr essing and holding down the MENU/ OK button again, you can r eturn to the standard view from the enlar ged view .
28 [Reg . My S ettings] (K ey C ustom Options) In [Reg. My Settings], you can also set [F ocus R ing Settings] and [Spot AF Area Setting] options in the setup menu.
29 ADJ. L ev er S ettings (K ey C ustom Settings T ab M enu) Y ou can set the [Aspect R atio] function in [ADJ . Lever Setting 1] to [ ADJ. Lev er S etting 4] on the Key C ustom Settings tab. If you set the Aspect R atio function, and press the ADJ . Lever button, will appear , allowing y ou to set the aspect ratio .
30 [Delete My Settings] (K ey C ustom Settings T ab Menu) By selec ting [Delete My Settings] on the Key Cust om Settings tab , you can cancel the settings set in [Reg . My Settings] for [My Settings B o x] and for [MY1], [MY2], and [MY3] on the mode dial.

32 [F ocus R ing Settings] (Setup T ab) In [F ocus R ing Settings], you can set either a mode that enables functions for both aut ofocus and manual f ocus or a mode that enables func tions f or manual focus only .
33 [Spot AF Area Setting] (Setup T ab Menu) Y ou can selec t either [Normal] or [Pinpoin t] for the AF ar ea in the [Spot AF Area Setting] in the setup menu. When [Spot AF] is selected in [F ocus] in the Shooting Menu, the focus will be set t o the AF area mode selec ted in the [Spot AF Area Setting].
