2-2 Operator Control Panel OG L 0 1 OCP Description The Operator Control Panel (OCP) is a touch panel disp lay that you use to set up print options and monitor job and printer s tatus. It is also used by the Network Adminis trator to configu re the printer and by the Service T ech nician to perfo rm maintenance on the printer .

Fo r the desired paper o rientation, see the labels on the tr ays. Refer to Ap pend ix C for detailed information ab out paper specifications and printing on s pecial print media.
Paper Handl i ng 3-3 OG L 0 1 Pape r Size s, Pape r T ype s, and Prin t er Inp ut T ra ys The following tab les show which paper sizes and types can be used with the p rinter's input trays. The pap er size is shown in both millimeters and inches.

Size markers are located o n the sensor plate in th e following order: triangle (sp e cial ), B5, L GR, LGL, L TR, B4 , A3, an d A4. If the paper size you need is not listed , set the sensor plate to triang le (the f irst position).

4-2 Care and Maintenan ce OG L 0 1 Replac ing Cons umab les When a consumable needs to be replaced, the printer sto ps printing and d isplays an error m essage indicatin g which consum able should be replaced. Th e following table shothe ws the life e xpectancy of e ach consumable.
Care and Maintenance 4-3 OG L 0 1 Ad di n g T one r 1. Open the T oner Supply Cover . 2. Make sure that the mouth of the toner bottle is closed. Shak e the toner bottle up and down about six times, then turn the toner bottle upside down and shake it again.

Install the toner bottle into the T oner Hopper Unit so that the triangle marks on the bottle mouth and the T oner Hopper Unit line up. T urn the bottle in a h alf circle until the triangle mar k on the bottle comes to fit the cir cle mark on the T oner Hopper Un it.
Care and Maintenance 4-5 OG L 0 1 5. Hold the top of th e bottle and tap the side to transfer the toner into the T oner Hopper Unit. 6. When the toner bo ttle is empty , turn it back in a h alf circle and take it out. 7. Close the T oner Supply Cover and discard the em pty toner bottle.

T o start the ex haust process, make the following selectio ns from the OCP: Setup / Consumable / Develo per Mix / Exhaust The exhaus t process takes appro ximately 2 minutes.

T o start th e replacement pro cess, make the following selections fr om the OCP: Setup / Consumable / Develo per Mix / Supply The re placement process takes approxim ately 2 minutes.

4-12 Care and Maintenance OG L 0 1 Replacing th e Dru m Unit T o remo ve th e Dr um Un it: 1. Open the Front Cov er of the printer . 2. T urn the handle clockwise to release the Drum Un it. 3. T urn the Dru m Center Lock until the tab on the s ide of the lock appears.
Care and Maintenance 4-13 OG L 0 1 4. Using the grip of the f ront side of the drum unit, pull it out until the stopper behind the unit c atches, then hold the handle and lift the drum unit to remove it.
4-14 Care and Maintenance OG L 0 1 T o install the new Drum Unit: 1. Align the groove on b oth sides of the Drum Unit to the Drum Unit Front Guides that are located on the f ront side of the Console Frame. Pu sh the front g rip of the Drum Unit until the Dr um Unit is set in the proper p osition.
Care and Maintenance 4-15 OG L 0 1 Repl acing the Fuser Cl ean ing Web T o remo ve the Fuser Unit: 1. Open the Front Cov er of the printer . 2. Hold up the Fuser L atch and pull out the Fuser Un it. WARNING! The Fuser Unit is very hot. Do not touch any parts of the Fuser Unit except those parts which are used to r ep lace the Fuser Cleaning W eb.

T roubleshoot i ng 5-7 OG L 0 1 Printi ng Notes Paper jams (e.g . E134) may h appen at the Switch Back S tation, when using thick (stiff) p aper . Banding may occur when printing half tones. This happe ns when paper enters the fuser unit or exits the regist ro llers.
5-8 T rouble shootin g OG L 0 1 OCP Display Messages The OCP displays the printer status with 1- to 2-line messages. There are three ty pes of messages: status, w arning, and error m essages. The following table lists the messages in alphabetical order .
