1 Introduction English Introduction The VPAP TM Auto 25 , VPAP TM ST and the VPAP TM S are i ndicated for the treatment of obstructive sle ep apnea (OSA) in patien ts weighing more th an 66 lb (30 kg).
2 Masks The following ResMed mask systems are recommended for use wi th these devices: For information on using masks, see your mask manual. For th e latest available masks, see www.resmed.co m. Humidifier If you are ex periencing dryness o f the nose, throat or mouth, the H4i heated humidifier is recommended for use with these VPAP devices.
3 Using the VP AP Auto 2 5, VP AP ST & VP AP S English Supplemental Oxygen The VPAP Auto 25, VP AP ST and VPAP S are designed to be compatibl e with the following levels of suppl emental oxygen usage: • Up to 4 L/ min in V Auto mode • Up to 1 5 L/min in CP AP , S , ST and T mode s.
4 ! CAUTION • Be careful not to place the device where it can be bumped or where someone is likely to trip ov er the power cord. • If you put the device on the fl oor , make sure the area is free from dust and clear of bedding , clothes or other objects th at could bloc k the air inlet.
5 Using the VP AP Auto 2 5, VP AP ST & VP AP S English Using the Menus The VPAP Au to 25 , VPAP ST and VPAP S provi de a set of functions which are arranged in menus and submenus. Via the LCD screen, the menus and submenus allow you to view and change the settin gs for a particular function.
6 How to Select the Mask Type Scroll to MASK and select . Press or until you see the setting you require. The following ta ble shows the setting that should be se lected for each mas k: How to change the EPR level (CPAP mode) Expiratory Pressure Re lief (EPR) can be used to improve your comfor t level when breathing out duri ng treatment.
7 Using the VP AP Auto 2 5, VP AP ST & VP AP S English Starting Treatment 1 Make sure the power is on. The product name is displaye d briefly on the LCD screen, then the standby (Ramp/ Settle) screen app ears. The key and LCD backlights also turn on.
8 Using the Mask-Fitting feature The VPAP Au to 25, VPAP ST and VPAP S include a m ask-fitting feature to help you fit your mask properly. The mask-fitti ng fe ature delivers air pressure for a three- minute period, pri or to starting treatment, for checki ng and adjusting your mask fit to minimize leaks.
9 Using the VP AP Auto 2 5, VP AP ST & VP AP S English Using the Data Card If your clinici an needs to review your treatment, they will ask you to use the Data Card to copy data from your VPAP devic e and return the card to them. Copying Data onto a Data Card 1 Switch on your VPAP and wait until you see the standby (Ramp /Settle) screen.
10 Traveling with the VPAP Auto 25, VPAP ST & V PAP S International Us e Your VPAP flow generator has an internal pow er adapter that en ables it to operate in other countries. It wil l operate on power supplies of 100–240V and 50–60Hz. No special adju stment is necessary, b ut you will require an approved p ower cord for that country.
11 Cleaning and Maintenance English Cleaning and Maintenance You should regularly carry out the cleani ng and maintenance described in this secti on. Refer to your mask and humidifier manuals fo r detailed instru ctions regarding the care of those devices.
12 ! WARNING • Do not wash the air filter . Th e air filter is not wa shable or reusable. • The air filter co ver protects the devi ce in th e event of accidental liqui d spillage on to the device. Ensure the air filter and air fi lter cover are fit ted at all times.
