1 Introduction English Introduction The VPAP TM Auto 25 , VPAP TM ST and the VPAP TM S are i ndicated for the tre atment of obstructive sleep ap nea (OSA) in patients weighing more than 66 lb (30 kg).
2 Masks The following Re sMed mask systems are re commended for use with these devices: For information on using masks, see your mask manual. For the latest avai lable masks, see www.resmed.com. Humidifier If you are experie ncing dryness of the nose, throat or mouth, the H4i heated humidifier is recommended for use with these VP AP devices.
3 Using the VP AP Auto 25, VP AP ST & VP A P S English Supplemental Oxygen The VPAP Auto 25, VPAP ST and VPAP S are designed to be compatible with the following levels of supplemental oxygen usage: • Up to 4 L/mi n in V Auto mode • Up to 1 5 L/min in CP AP , S, ST and T modes.
4 ! CAUTION • Be careful not to place the device where it can be bu mped or where someone is likely to trip over the power cord. • If you put the device on the floo r , mak e sure the area is free from dust and clear of bedding, clot hes or other objects that could bloc k the air inlet.
5 Using the VP AP Auto 25, VP AP ST & VP A P S English Using the Menus The VPAP Auto 25 , VPAP ST and VPAP S provide a set of functions which are arranged in menus and submenus. Vi a the LCD screen, the menus and submenus allow you to view and change the settings for a particul ar function.
6 How to Select the Mask Type Scroll to MASK and select . Press or until you see the setting you require. The fo llowing table shows the setting that should be selec ted for each mask: How to change the EPR level (CPAP mode) Expiratory Pressure Relief (EP R) can be used to improve your comfort level when breathing out during treatment.
7 Using the VP AP Auto 25, VP AP ST & VP A P S English Starting Treatment 1 Make sure the power is on. The product name is displayed briefly on the LCD screen , then the standby (Ramp/ Settle) screen appears. The key and LCD backlights also turn on.
8 Using the Mask-Fitting feature The VPAP Auto 25, VPAP ST and VPAP S include a m ask-fitting feature to he lp you fit your mask properly. The mask-fitting fe ature delivers air pressu re for a three- minute period, prior to starting treatment, for checking and adjusting your mask fit to minimize leaks.
9 Using the VP AP Auto 25, VP AP ST & VP A P S English Using the Data Card If your clinician needs to review your treatment, they wil l ask you to use the Data Card to copy data from your VPAP device and return th e card to them. Copying Data onto a Data Card 1 Switch on your VPAP and wai t until you see the standby (Ramp/Settle) screen.
10 Traveling with the VPAP Auto 25, VPAP ST & VPAP S International Use Your VPAP flow generator has an internal pow er adapter that enables it to operate i n other countries. It will operate on power supplies of 100–240V and 50–60Hz. No special adjustment i s necessary, but you wil l require an approved power co rd for that country.
11 Cleaning and Maintenance English Cleaning and Maintenance You should regularly carry out the cleaning and mainte nance described in this section. Refer to your mask and humidifier manuals for de tailed instruction s regarding the care of those devices.
12 ! WARNING • Do not wash the air filt er . The air filter is not washable or reusab le. • The air filter cover protec ts the devi ce in the event of accidental liquid spillage onto the devic e. Ensure the air filter and air filt er cover are fit ted at all times.
