2 FEA TURES Your RadioShack Travel Sleep Machi ne com- bines a simp le design with advanced technol- ogy. You can set the clo ck to annou nce the time every hour, which is han dy in a dark room, for example. You can also set the clock to play so othing sounds to lull you to sle ep.
3 Hourly Chime Function — you can set the clock to sound a chime and ann ounce the ti me hourly. Backlight — lights the display at th e touch of a button. Slide C over — protects the front panel and prevents you from acciden tally chang ing a set- ting w hen it is packed in your sui tcase (for ex- ample).
4 PREPARATION REMOVING THE BATTERY INSULATION STRIP Your alarm clock comes with an insu lation strip that helps preserve battery po wer during shipping. Before usi ng the ala rm clock, re- move the insulati on strip from the button-cell battery compartment (located inside the AA battery compartment) by grasping a nd pulling it out.
5 USING THE STAND To see the clock more easily, fli p the stand (on the battery compartmen t) out to prop up the clock. A QUICK LOOK AT THE CLOCK Soothing Sounds Sw itch — sl ide the sound selection switch (R AIN, TRAIN, OCEAN, WIND, BROOK, or NIGHT) to the desired set- ting to have the clock play any of these sooth- ing soun d s .
6 TIMER — press to set the clock to play the de- sired sleep sound for up to an hour and a half. TIME SET/ALARM SET/ALARM ON/ALARM OFF — slide to the desired setting to set the time, set the alarm ti me, and turn the a larm on and off. TALKING/SNOOZE — press to set the c lock to announce every hou r.
7 rechargeable) o r rechargeable b atteries of different capacities. 1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw from the battery compartment cover , then lift the cover to remove it. 2. Place the batteries in the compartment, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside.
8 Caution: If you do not plan to use the clock for more than a month, remove the batteries. Bat- teries can leak chem icals that can destroy electronic parts . SETTING THE T IME 1. Slid e TIME SET (ALARM SET/ALARM ON/ ALARM OFF) to TIME SET . The c lock announces “Clock Setting,” and the dis- play flashes.
9 OPERATION USING THE ALARM Follow these steps to set the alarm time. 1. Slid e ALARM SET (TIME SET/ALARM ON/ ALARM OFF) to ALARM SET . The cl ock announces the cu rrently set alarm time, the display flashe s, and AL appears between the hour and minute digi ts.
10 Or, you can press SNOOZE (T ALKING) to tem- porarily turn off the alarm. The alarm sounds again in about 5 minu tes. The snoo ze cycle will repeat four more times if you do n ot turn off the alarm. To have the alarm sound again the next day, slide ALARM SET to ALARM ON .
11 To stop the sound, slide NON STOP to OFF . Notes: • For maximum battery life, we recommend using the coun tdown timer for sleep sounds (see “Using the Countdown T i mer”).
12 The clock plays th e selected sleeping sound for the set amount of time. To stop the sound sooner, press TIMER so OF appears, o r press TA L K I N G so the clock anno unces the time .
13 Resetting the Sleep Machine If you have tried the sol utions reco mmended on Page 12 and the Sleep Machine stil l works improperly, use a p ointed object (such as a paper clip) and pre ss RESET to reset the Sleep Machine. 12:00 appears and th e Sleep Ma- chine’s memory is cleared.
14 REPLACING THE BUTTON- CELL BATTERIES When the display d ims or the clock stops op- erating properly, replace the 357A button-cell batteries. Warnin gs: • Keep button-cel l batteries away from chil- dren. Sw allowing a button-cell ba ttery can be fatal.
