2 FEA TURES Your RadioShack Travel Sleep Machine com- bines a simple design with advanced technol- ogy. You can set the clock to announce the time every hour, which i s handy in a dark room, for example. You can also set the clock to play soothing sou nds to lull you to sleep.
3 Hourly Chime Function — you can set the clock to sound a chime and announce the time hourly. Backlight — lights the display at the touch of a button. Slide Cove r — protects the front panel and prevents you from accidental ly changing a set- ting when it is packed in your suitcase (fo r ex- ample).
4 PREPARATION REMOVING THE BATTERY INSULATION STRIP Your alarm clock comes with an insulation strip that helps preserve battery power during shipping. Be fore using the alar m clock, re- move the insulation strip from th e button-cell battery compartment (located inside the AA battery compartment) by grasping and pul ling it out.
5 USING THE STAND To see the clock more easil y, flip the stan d (on the battery compartment) out to prop up the clock. A QUICK LOOK AT THE CLOCK Soothing Soun ds Switch — sl ide the sound selection switch (RAIN, TRAIN, OCEAN, WIND, BROOK, or NIGHT) to the desired set- ting to have the clock play an y of these sooth- ing sounds.
6 TIMER — press to set the clock to play the de- sired sleep sound for up to an hour and a half. TIME SET/ALARM SET/ALARM ON/ALARM OFF — slide to the desired setting to set the time, set the ala rm time, and turn the alarm on and off. TALKING/SNOOZE — pres s to set the clock to announce every hour.

8 Caution: If you do not plan to use the clock for more than a month, remo ve the batteries. Bat- teries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts. SETTING THE T IME 1. Slide TIME SET (ALARM SET/ALARM ON/ ALARM OFF) to TIME SET . T he clock announces “Clock Settin g,” and the dis- play flashes.
9 OPERATION USING THE ALARM Follow these steps to set the alarm time. 1. Slide ALARM SET (TIME SET/ALARM ON/ ALARM OFF) to ALARM SET . Th e clock announces the currently set a larm time, the display flashes, and AL appe ars between the hour and minute digits.
10 Or, you can press SNOOZE (T ALKING) to tem- porarily turn off the alarm. The alarm sounds again in about 5 minutes. Th e snooze cycle will repeat four more times if you do not turn off the alarm. To have the alarm sound again the next day, slide ALARM SET to ALARM ON .
11 To stop the sound, sli de NON STOP to OFF . Notes: • For maximum battery life, we recommend using the countdown timer for sleep sounds (see “Using the Countdown T imer”).
12 The clock plays the selecte d sleeping sound for the set amount of time. To stop the sound sooner, press TIMER so OF a ppears, or press TA L K I N G so the clock anno unces the time.
13 Resetting the Sleep Machine If you have tried th e solutions reco mmended on Page 12 and the Sleep Machine still works improperly, use a pointe d object (such as a paper clip) and press RESET to reset the Sleep Machine. 12:00 appears and the Sleep Ma- chine’s memory is cleared.
14 REPLACING THE BUTTON- CELL BATTERIES When the display dims or th e clock stops op- erating properly, replace th e 357A button-cell batteries. Warnings: • Keep button-cell batteries aw ay from chil- dren. Swallowing a button-cell battery can be fatal.
