4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the revolutionary PROFORM ® XP STRIDECLIMBER 600 elliptical exerciser . The XP STRIDECLIMBER 600 elliptical exerciser provides a wide array of features designed to make your work- outs at home more effective and enjoyable.
5 ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical exerciser in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. In addition to the included hex keys, assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver , an adjustable wrench , and a rubber mallet .
6 1. While a second person tips the Frame (2) backward, attach a Wheel (25) to each side of the Frame with an M10 x 35mm Shoulder Screw (94). 2. Carefully tip the Frame (2) onto its side. Orient the Base (1) as shown, and then insert the Base into the Frame.
7 3. Identify the Right Roller Leg (21) and the Right Pedal Leg (16), which are marked with “R” stick- ers. Orient the Right Roller Leg and the Right Pedal Leg as shown.
8 6. Attach the Center Frame Cover (27) to the Base (1) with six M4 x 12mm Flange Screws (73). 6 27 1 73 73 73 5. Apply a small amount of grease to the axle on the right Crank Arm (36) and to a Wave W asher (93). Then, slide the W ave Washer onto the Crank Arm.
9 8. Have a second person hold the Upright (6) near the Frame (2) as shown. Pull the Wire Harness (48) out of the Frame (2) and insert it upward through the Upright (6). Tip: Use a piece of tape or an elastic band to hold the Wire Harness in place until step 14.
10 1 1. Orient an Inner Handlebar Cover (18) and an Outer Handlebar Cover (19) around the Right Handlebar (9) as shown. Attach the Outer Handlebar Cover (19) with an M4 x 16mm Flange Screw (84). Then, attach the Inner Handlebar Cover (18) with two M4 x 16mm Self-tapping Screws (79).
11 13. The Console (5) can be operated with four 1.5V “D” batteries (not included); alkaline batteries are recommended. IMPORT ANT : If the elliptical exerciser has been exposed to cold temper- atures, allow it to warm to room temperature before inserting batteries into the Console.
12 16. Make sure that all parts of the elliptical exerciser are properly tightened. Note: Some hardware may be left over after assembly is completed. T o protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the elliptical exerciser . 15 15. Apply a generous amount of grease to a Pedal Leg Axle (32).
13 HOW T O USE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER HOW TO MOVE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER Due to the size and weight of the elliptical exercis- er , moving it requires two persons. Stand in front of the elliptical exerciser , hold the upright, and place one foot against one of the front wheels.
14 HOW TO ADJUST THE SELECTOR The pedals on the elliptical exerciser move your feet in a natural elliptical path. Y ou can adjust the selectors on the elliptical exerciser so that the pedals move in a more vertical path or a more horizontal path.
15 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The advanced console offers an array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you use the manual mode of the console, you can change the resistance of the pedals with the touch of a button.
16 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Note: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console, remove the plastic. 1. Begin pedaling to turn on the console. A moment after you turn on the console, the dis- plays will light. 2. Select the manual mode.
17 5. Measure your heart rate if desired. If there are sheets of clear plastic on the metal contacts on the handgrip pulse sen- sor , remove the plas- tic. T o measure your heart rate, hold the handgrip pulse sensor with your palms resting against the metal con- tacts.
18 HOW TO USE A WEIGHT LOSS WORKOUT 1. Begin pedaling to turn on the console. See step 1 on page 16. 2. Select a weight loss workout. T o select one of the four weight loss workouts, press the Enter/Exit button repeatedly until the name of a WEIGHTLOSS workout appears in the upper display .
19 HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT 1. Begin pedaling to turn on the console. See step 1 on page 16. 2. Select a preset workout. T o select one of the eight preset workouts, p ress the Enter/Exit button repeatedly until the name of a WORKOUT appears in the upper display .
Inspect and tighten all parts of the elliptical exerciser regularly . Replace any worn parts immediately . T o clean the elliptical exerciser , use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. IMPORT ANT : T o avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight.
21 These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember , proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
22 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
