19 3 Operating The Printer Powering On The Printer When you power on the pr inter, it executes a se lf-test. The defau lt power- up state is onlin e. When the self -test complete s and the sof tware has initial ized succes sfully , the sta tus indic ator ligh t turns on, indicati ng the prin ter is onl ine.

Control Panel Keys 21 VIEW / EJECT When the p rinte r is on line or offline, pr essin g this ke y execu tes the view or eject functio n, depen ding on whe ther the printe r is a cabinet or a pe destal (o r zero tea r ped estal). Optimi zing Print Sp eed 53 Adapter Address • IP Address . A numeric address such as 123.45 .61.23 wh ich iden tifies a printer or server in a LA N or WA N. • Subnet Mask . A binary value us ed to di vide IP networks i nto sm aller subnetwor ks or subn ets.
54 Chapter 4 QUICK SETUP This o ption sets th e paus e time in the data stream that the ZTP requ ires before mo ving the form t o the tea r bar once a print j ob is complet ed. The values range from .5 to 5 s econds. The default is .5 secon ds. ZTP W ait Time This opti on sets th e minimu m amount of time th at the fo rm stays a t the tear bar.
Optimi zing Print Sp eed 55 Select LPI Defines th e defau lt values for verti cal cha racter spacing. T he numb er of li nes per inch c an be 6. 0 or 8.0. NOTE: The factor y default for th e Hanzi an d Hangu l LP+ is 6.0. The facto ry default for Kanji LP+ is 8.

Baud rate is the speed at which s erial d ata is trans ferred betw een the h ost comp uter and th e printer. The choic es for the RS -232 and RS-422 i nterface s are 60 0, 1200, 24 00, 4800, 9600 , 19200, 38400, 57600, and 1 15200 Bau d.
Serial S ubmenu 71 Request T o Send This con figurati on is part of hardwar e flow con trol and d etermine s when the Request to Send (RTS) s ignal is generat ed. This signal indicate s wheth er or not the printer is ready to recei ve data. • On Line and BNF (d efault).
