The A TTO FastS tream SC 7700 is available in a desktop model and in an industry-stand ard 1U form factor for easy integration into racks.

14 3.0 Ensure Drive Integrity The A TTO FastS tream “Initialize and V erify drive” feature discovers and remaps bad sectors on drives, providing reliable media for your RAID groups. Before creating any RAID group you should Initialize and V erify the drives you want in the RAID group to ensure drive integrity .

15 4.0 Configure S torage into RAID Group s The A TTO FastS tream allows configuration of storage into DVRAID, JBOD, RAID Level 0, 1, 1+0, 4, 5 or 6 with the ability to create multiple partitions. RAID is a storage configuration which uses multiple drives to increase capacity , performance, and/or reliability .
16 However, if you re quire maximum fau lt tolerance, it is best practice to have a Hot Spare available to supply the un allocated drive for immediate use.
17 For the FastStream 7700, this setup requires exactly 6, 7, 8, 12, 14, 16 or 24 drives ap pea r as available on the screen after the scan. Physically add or discon nect d rives as need ed and rescan. 4 Click Next. 5 Choose an Initialization method ( refer to Initialization on page 16).
18 Creating a custom setup If the application setups do not suit your needs, you may use Custom Setup to configure the FastS tream. 1 After choo sing Custom Setup button, the RAID Setup Wizard page appears. Click on Next . 2 Decide if all drives are to be available to both ports.
19 15 Select a Sector Size .The RAID group sector size must be evenly divisible by the sector size of any member disk. • 512 bytes is the default size for most operating systems. • For Windows XP (32-bit support) select 4 KB sectors to enable large volume support (greater th an 2 TB).

FastS tream SC Installation and Operation Manual 5.0 Modify System V alues Default values are appropriate for most configurations, but may be modified for your needs using A TTO ExpressNA V Storage Manager . It is best practice to change the default user name and password to a user name an d password important to you.
22 • Controller name : the controller name is a unique 8-characte r ide ntifier which is displayed at the to p of each screen. You may find this useful if you are managing multiple ATTO devices from a single workstation. • Time and da te : use a remote time server to set the time and time zo ne, or manually set the time and date.

42 Using the serial port T o connect to a terminal emulation program to manage the FastS tream, use the serial port. 1 Connect a cable from FastStream RS-232 serial port or header to the serial (COM) port on a personal comp uter. 2 Start a terminal emulation pr ogram on the personal computer, and use it to connect to the FastStream.
