10- ENG A08188 INST ALLA TION GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. In the event of a short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current.
11- ENG A08188 Extension Cor ds Use extra air hose instead of an extension cord to avoid voltage drop and power loss to the motor , and to prevent overheating.
12- ENG A08188 Description of Operation Become familiar with these controls before operating the unit. On/Auto/Off Switch : T ur n this switch "ON/AUTO" to provide automatic power to the pressur e switch and "OFF" to remove power at the end of each use.
13- ENG A08188 Check V alve: When the air compressor is operating, the check valve is "open", allowing compressed air to enter the air tank. When the air compressor reaches "cut-out" pressur e, the check valve "closes", allowing air pressur e to remain inside the air tank.
14- ENG A08188 How to Start: 1. T ur n the On/Auto/Of f lever to "ON/AUTO" and allow tank pr essure to build. Motor will stop when tank pr essure reaches "cut-out" pressur e. 2. Pull the regulator knob out and turn clockwise to incr ease pr essure.
15- ENG A08188 Air Filter Inspection and Replacement Hot surfaces. Risk of burn. Compressor heads ar e exposed when filter cover is r emoved. Allow compr essor to cool prior to servicing. Keep the air filter clean at all times. Do not operate the air compressor with the air filter removed.
16- ENG A08188 Air Compr essor Pump Intake and Exhaust V alves Once a year have a T rained Service T echnician check the air compressor pump intake and exhaust valves. If it is dirty , r eplace it with a new filter . 1. Remove the air filter cover . 2.
17- ENG A08188 6. Using a screwdriver , carefully push the valve disc up and down. NOTE: The valve disc should move fr eely up and down on a spring which holds the valve disc in the closed position; if not the check valve needs to be cleaned or r eplaced.
18- ENG A08188 STORAGE Before you stor e the air compr essor , make sure you do the following: 1. Review the "Maintenance" section on the preceding pages and perform scheduled maintenance as necessary . 2. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to "OFF".
19- ENG A08188 TROUBLESHOOTING Performing r epairs may expose voltage sources, moving parts or compressed air sour ces, moving parts or compressed air sour ces. Personal injury may occur . Prior to attempting any r epairs, unplug the air compressor and bleed off all air tank air pressur e.
20- ENG A08188 PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION It is normal for "some" pressur e drop to occur . If ther e is an excessive amount of pressur e dr op when the accessory is used, adjust the regulator following the instructions in the "Description of Operation" paragraph in the "Operation Section.
21- ENG A08188 Regulator will not shut off air outlet. Damaged r egulator . Replace. PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Motor will not run. Fuse blown, circuit breaker tripped.
