2 EN Tha nk you f or buying a Philips video recorder . This video recorder is one of the most sophisti- cated and easy-to-use video recorders (VCR) on the market. Please take the time to read this operating manual bef ore using your video recorder . It contains impor tant information and notes regarding operation.
4 EN Important for the United Kingdom This apparatus is fitted with an approv ed moulded 10 Amp plug. T o change a fuse in this type of plug pro- ceed as follo ws: 1. 1. Remov e fuse cover and fuse . 2. 2. Fix new fuse which should be a BS1362 3A,AST A or BSI approved type.
5 EN 1. 1. Switch off your TV set. 2. 2. Remov e the aer ial cable plug from y our TV set. Inser t it into the AERIAL at the back of the video recorder . 3. 3. Inser t one end of the supplied aerial cable into the RF OUT at the back of the video recorder and the other end into the aerial input socket at the bac k of the TV set.

8 EN Preparation for use This chapter shows y ou how to prepare the video recorder for use . The video recorder automatically seeks out and stores all av ailable TV channels. 1. 1. Press . The automatic channel search star ts. 2. 2. 'TIME' and 'D A TE' will appear on the TV screen.
9 EN Manual TV channel searc h In some cases it can occur that all TV channels are not found and sa ved during the first installa- tion. In this case, the missing TV channels must be searched for and stored man ually . 1. 1. Switch on the TV set. If required, select the programme number f or the video recorder .
10 EN Sorting TV channels automatically (Follow TV) When the automatic channel search function is activated, the TV channels are saved in a specific order . This may v ar y from the order of TV chan- nels on the TV . This function changes the order of TV channels sav ed in the video recorder to match that of the TV .
11 EN Sorting and clearing TV channels manually After you ha ve perf or med the automatic channel search you ma y not agree with the sequence in which the individual TV channels hav e been allo- cated to the programme positions (progr amme n umbers) of the video recorder .
12 EN Setting the RF out channel In some reception locations it is possible that a TV channel will be sent on the same or similar frequency as the video recorder . Result: As soon as the video recorder is s witched on, the reception quality f or this or sev- eral other TV channels will decrease.
13 EN General information 'T ape List' helps you keep trac k of which movie is on which cassette. T ape List gives y ou also a quick and easy access to recordings . If desired, the video recorder will rewind to the beginning of the selected recording and auto- matically star t playbac k.

15 EN Playing cassettes Y ou can use this video recorder to play bac k recorded VHS videocassettes. Y ou can operate the video recorder using the remote control or the buttons on the front of the video recorder . Y our video recorder can only record and play standard VHS cassettes.

20 EN General information Use a TIMER programming to automatically star t and stop a recording at a later time or date. The video recorder will switch to the right progr amme n umber and begin recording at the correct time. With this video recorder , you can pre-programme up to eight recordings within a period of one y ear .
