When you need to add more, you simply establish communications between your meter and the Pitney Bowes Data Center , and specify the amount of postage you wish to download.

6-9 6 • System Settings SV61983 Rev . G Setting Sleep Mode Activation Time Y ou can set the amount of time the machine waits until entering "sleep mode". When the machine is in sleep mode, the display is blank (except for the time in the lower right) and you can't process mail.

This is helpful when you are using the internal rating feature and need to know the weight of an item when sending to a country whose rates are based on metric values (such as Canada).

G Setting the High V alue W arning Y ou can have the machine warn you when you manually key in a post age val ue that is higher than a maximum amount that you spec- ify . This fea ture helps prevent you from ac ci den tal ly print ing a post- age val ue that's more than you need.

This warning acts as a re- minder for you to add more postage to your machine (by connecting to the Data Center and downloading funds).

7-1 SV61983 Rev . G 7 • Standard Accounting (Option) Overview of Accounting An accounting feature on a mailing machine allows you to track your postage costs by categories. These categories can represent whatever makes sense to your organization - departments, people, locations, projects, etc.

1 1-1 SV61983 Rev . G Options • Internal Rating Feature The internal rating feature allows the machine to calculate post- age automatically for most mail pieces based on the weight (ei- ther entered manually or using the optional scale) and the class for a mail piece.
