! Keep the detachable device out of direct sun- light and high temperatures. ! After removing the detachable device, keep it in a safe place so it is not scratched or damaged.
Removing the detachable device from the head unit enables you to set routes and search locations even when you are out of your vehi- cle. Also, you can connect the detachable device to your PC using the supplied USB cable. This chapter describes how to use the detach- able device as it is removed from the head unit.
3 Press the center on the right side of the detachable device until it is firmly seated. If you can ’ t attach the detachable device to the head unit successfully , tr y again. The detach- able device may be damaged if you attach the detachable device forcedly.
4 Detach the cable to disconnect the bat- tery . T ur ning on the detachable device If you turn on the detachable device while it is removed from the head unit, the navigation system switches to “ Detach mode ” . p The following functions are not available in “ Detach mode ” .
1 A message appears when the remain- ing battery life is getting low . 2 When the battery nearly runs out, the navigation system automatically turns off after a message appears. Connecting with your PC It is available to connect the detachable device and your PC using the USB cable (supplied with the navigation system).

Most of the information provided by your navi- gation system can be seen on the map. Y ou need to become familiar with how the informa- tion appears on the map. How to read the map scr een This example shows an example of a 2D map screen . 2 1 3 67 45 c a 8 9 b p Information with the mark (*) appears only when the route is set.
The direction towards your destination (next waypoint, or cursor) is indicated with a straight line. a Current route* The route currently set is highlighted in bright color on the map. If a waypoint is set on the route, the route after the next waypoint is highlighted in another color .
While driving on the freeway, freeway exit numbers and freeway signs may be displayed when in the vicinity of interchanges and exits. 1 Lane information 2 F reeway exit infor mation Displays the freeway exit. 3 F reeway signs These show the road number and give direc- tional information.
p If you do not operate the function for a few seconds, the display is automatically re- turned. Scrolling the map to the position you want to see 1 Display the map screen.
2 T ouch [Settings]. The “ Settings Menu ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Map]. The “ Map ” screen appears. Displaying POI on the map Displays icons for the surrounding facilities (POI) on the map. p POI icons are not displayed when the map scale is 1 mile (2 kilometers) or more.
6 T ouch the subcategory . A red check mark appears next to the selected categor y . T o cancel the selection, touch the entr y again. # If you want to search with more detailed cate- gories, touch . T ouch the item and touch [ OK ]. When only a few types of the detailed categories are selected, blue check marks will appear .
Y ou can change the colors of a map be- tween daytime and nighttime according to whether the vehicle lights are On or Off . ! [ Day ]: The map is always displayed with daytime colors. p T o use this function with [ Automatic ], the Orange/white lead of the navigation system must be connected correctly .
CAUTION For safety reasons, these route-setting functions are not available while your vehicle is in motion. T o enable these functions, you must stop in a safe place and put on the parking brake before setting your route. p Some information regarding traffic regula- tions depends on the time when the route calculation is per formed.
When the route calculation is completed, “ Route confirmation screen ” appears. Avoid Freeway This setting controls whether freeways may be included in the route calculation. [ Off ]*: Calculate a route that may include freeways. [ On ]: Calculate a route that avoids freeways. p The system may calculate a route that in- cludes freeway even if [ On ] is selected.
3 Search for a location. After searching for a point, display it on a map, then touch [ OK ] to add to the “ Way- points List ” screen. = For details, refer to Searching for and select- ing a location on page 36. 4 T ouch [OK] on the “ Waypoints List ” screen.
Y ou can check the route details. Y ou can also recalculate the route in different conditions. 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Route info]. “ Route confirmation screen ” appears. p [ Route info ] is active only when the route is set.
= For details, refer to Searching for and select- ing a location on page 36. 4 T ouch [OK] on the “ Waypoints List ” screen. “ Route confirmation screen ” appears. 5 T ouch [OK]. The route is recalculated and the map of the current position appears.
= For details concerning operations, refer to Modifying the route calculation conditions on page 30. Using the demonstration guidance This is a demonstration function for retail stores. After a route is set, touching this key starts the simulation of route guidance.

6 Enter the street name and then touch [OK]. The “ Select Street ” screen appears. p Y ou can search for the street name by key- word. = For details, refer to Searching for a name by entering multiple keywords on this page. 7 T ouch the desired street.
Setting up a route to your home If your home location is stored, the route home can be calculated by touching a single key . 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Go Home]. If the home location has not been stored yet, the confirmation message appears.
p Current order is displayed on the upper right of the screen. ! : Sorts the items in the list in order by dis- tance from the vehicle position. ! : Sorts the items in the list alphabetically . Searching for a nearby POI Y ou can search for POIs in your surroundings.
6 T ouch [Search]. The “ Select City ” screen appears. 7 T ouch the desired city name. POI ’ s are divided into several categories. # T ouch . The representative location of the city appears on the map screen.
3 T ouch the entry you want. The searched location appears on the map screen. Searching for a location by coordinates Entering a latitude and longitude pinpoints the location. 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Coordinate]. The “ Coordinate Input Menu ” screen ap- pears.
Registering a location into “ Favorites ” Registering a location by “ Favorites ” Favorites can store up to 400 registered loca- tions. These can include your home location, favorite places, and destinations you have al- ready registered. 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen.
Sorting the entry in “ Favorites ” 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Favorites]. The “ Select Favorite ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Sort]. Each time you touch [ Sort ] changes the sort order . p Current order is displayed on the upper right of the screen.
2 T ouch [Settings]. The “ Settings Menu ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Set Home]. The “ Set Home ” screen appears. 4 T ouch [Home]. The “ Select Search method ” screen appears. 5 Search for a location. After searching for a point, display it on a map, then touch [ OK ].
# T ouch [ All ]. Selects all entries. # T ouch [ None ]. Displayed when all locations are selected. Can- cels all selected locations. 5 T ouch [Delete]. A message will appear asking you to confirm the deletion. 6 T ouch [Y es]. The data you selected is deleted.
CAUTION For your safety , avoid talking on the phone as much as possible while driving. If your cellular phone features Bluetooth ® technology , this navigation system can be con- nected to your cellular phone wirelessly . Using this hands-free function, you can operate the navigation system to make or receive phone calls.
Searching for nearby phones The system searches for available cellular phones near the navigation system, displays them in a list, and registers them for connec- tion. 1 Activate the Bluetooth wireless tech- nology on your cellular phone. F or some cellular phones, no specific action is necessar y to activate Bluetooth wireless tech- nology .

p If registration fails repeat the procedure from the beginning. Connecting and disconnecting a registered cellular phone Connecting a registered cellular phone The navigation system automatically connects the cellular phone selected as the target of connection.
2 T ouch [Settings]. The “ Bluetooth Settings ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Connections]. The “ Connection List ” screen appears. 4 T ouch [Delete] next to the cellular phone name. The registration is canceled. Making a phone call Y ou can make a phone call in many different ways.
Alphabet tabs Makes the screen jump to the beginning of the page including the entry whose names start with any of selected alphabets. T ouching [ #ABCDE ] also displays the page in- cluding the entr y whose names start with pri- mar y symbols or numbers.
Making a phone call using the dialed number history The dialed number histor y saves 30 calls per registered cellular phone. If the entries exceed 30, the oldest one will be deleted. 1 Display the “ Phone Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Dialed]. The “ Dialed Calls List ” screen appears.
Dialing a facility ’ s phone number Y ou can make a call to facilities with phone number data. p Y ou cannot make a call to locations or POIs that have no phone number data. 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [POI]. The “ POI Search ” screen appears.
p Y ou can adjust volume when you are talk- ing. T o adjust volume, touch [ Vo l - ] and [ Vo l + ] displayed on the screen (like below) when you are talking. 3 T ouch to end the call. The call ends. p If the voice on the other end of the call is too quiet to hear , you can adjust the volume of the received voice.
5 When the completion message ap- pears, check the message and touch [OK]. T ransfer ends. Clearing memory Y ou can clear the memory of each item that corresponds to the connected cellular phone: phone book, dialed/received/missed call his- tor y list and preset dials.
Stopping Bluetooth wave transmission Y ou can stop transmission of electric waves by turning off the Bluetooth function. If you do not use the Bluetooth wireless technology, we recommend selecting [ Off ]. 1 T ouch [Settings] on the “ Phone Menu ” screen.

! If the phone number of the received call is not registered in the phone book, the phone number of the received call appears. ! During incoming and outgoing calls or talk- ing on a phone, you can only do the follow- ing operations: — T ouching , ,[ Vo l + ], and [ Vol - ].
Setting the volume for navigation system The sound volume for the navigation can be set. p When using a phone, the sound volume of the navigation system is dependent on the phone volume setting. 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Settings].
2 Insert an SD memory card into the SD card slot. = For more details of the operation, refer to In- serting and ejecting an SD memor y card on page 11. 3 T ouch [V oice Language] on the “ Re- gion ” screen. The “ V oice Language Selection ” screen ap- pears.
Changing the virtual speed of the vehicle When calculating the expected time of arrival and the number of hours to the destination, set the average speed for the freeway or ordin- ar y roads using [ + ] and [ – ]. 1 Display the “ Region ” screen.
Inputting the fuel consumption information for calculating the fuel cost Y ou can estimate the fuel cost to your destina- tion by entering the fuel consumption informa- tion in the navigation system. 1 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Gas Mileage].
3 T ouch [Calibrate]. A message confirming whether to start the ca- libration appears. 4 T ouch and hold the target that point to the center and corners of the LCD screen. The target indicates the order . 5 T ouch anywhere on the screen. The adjusted position data will be saved.
Adjusting the screen brightness Y ou can set the screen brightness for each of the following situations. ! When the detachable device is attached to the head unit and the vehicle lights are off . ! When the detachable device is attached to the head unit and the vehicle lights are on.
Exporting data for “ A VIC FEEDS ” Y ou can export data to an SD memory card for browsing on the PC application. The following data can be exported. ! Gas Mileage ! Drive Log Gas Mileage Entering the fueling information p Up to 24 sets of “ Gas Mileage ” entries can be stored.
1 Insert an SD memory card into the SD card slot. = For more details of the operation, refer to In- serting and ejecting an SD memor y card on page 11. 2 Display the “ Navigation Menu ” screen. 3 T ouch [Gas Mileage]. The “ Gas Mileage ” screen appears.

Storing the strongest broadcast frequencies “ BSM ” (best stations memor y) lets you auto- matically store the six strongest broadcast fre- quencies under the preset tuning keys to and, once stored there, you can tune in to these frequencies with the touch of a key.
Y ou can listen to the radio using this naviga- tion system. This section describes operations for radio (AM). 1 Press SRC/OFF button to display the “ TUNER ” screen. = For details, refer to Switching the audio op- eration screen on page 69. 2 Press BAND/ESC button repeatedly until “ AM ” in the display .

Pressing and holding MUL TI-CONTROL left or right The tuner will scan the frequencies until a broadcast strong enough for good reception is found. p Y ou can cancel seek tuning by pressing MUL TI-CONTROL left or right. Pressing the center of MUL TI-CONTROL The function select screen appears.
2 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to display “ Seek Mode ” . 3 Press the center of MUL TI-CONTROL to switch between “ Seek All ” and “ Seek HD ” . ! “ Seek All ” : Seeks stations from both analog and digital broadcasting. ! “ Seek HD ” : Seeks from digital broadcasting only .
Y ou can play a normal music CD using the built-in drive of the navigation system. This section describes how . % Insert the disc you want to play into disc-loading slot. Playback starts from the first track of the CD. p If the disc is already set, press SRC/OFF button to display the “ CD ” screen .
Pressing it twice continuously will skip to the previous track. Pressing and holding MUL TI-CONTROL left Performs fast reverse. p F ast reverse is canceled when it reaches the beginning of the first track on the disc. Pressing the center of MUL TI-CONTROL The function select screen appears.
p If you touch during scan play , the scan play is automatically canceled and playback of the current track will be repeated. p If you touch during scan play , the scan play is automatically canceled and tracks will be played in random order . Playback and Pause % T ouch .
Y ou can play a disc that contains compressed audio files using the built-in drive of the navi- gation system. This section describes these operations. p In the following description, the MP3, WMA, AAC, WA V files are collectively re- ferred to as “ Compressed audio file ” .
6 Advanced sound retriever indicator = F or details, refer to Using advanced sound retriever on the next page. Operating by hardware buttons Pressing BAND/ESC button Switches between CD (audio data (CD-DA)) and ROM (compressed audio file). p This operation is available only when play- ing a disc containing both CD-DA and compressed audio files.
When a folder is selected, it plays the first track in the selected folder . ! P ressing MUL TI-CONTROL left When the lower folder is listed, it returns to the upper folder . p If the root folder is listed, this operation is not available. ! P ressing and holding MUL TI-CONTROL left Displays the content of the root folder .
% T ouch [S.Rtrv] repeatedly to select the desired setting. Each touch of [ S.Rtrv ] changes the settings as follows: ! : Sets to S.Rtrv1 . ! : Sets to S.
Reading the screen 1 Source icon Shows which source has been selected. 2 T ext display area ! Folder number indicated next to “ FLDR ” Shows the folder number currently play- ing. ! T rack number indicated next to “ TRK ” Shows the track number currently play- ing.
Pressing MUL TI-CONTROL left Skips to the start of the current file. Pressing it twice continuously will skip to the previous file. Pressing and holding MUL TI-CONTROL left Performs fast reverse. p There is no sound on fast reverse or for- ward. Pressing the center of MUL TI-CONTROL The function select screen appears.
% T ouch . Random play begins. p When you turn random play on, ap- pears. p T o turn random play off , touch again. p If you touch while the repeat play range is set to , the repeat play range changes to automatically and files will be played in random order .
Using the USB inter face cable for iPod en- ables you to connect your iP od to the naviga- tion system. p A USB inter face cable for iPod (CD-IU50) (sold separately) is required for connection. p iP od is a trademark of Apple Inc., regis- tered in the U.
Operating by hardware buttons Pressing MUL TI-CONTROL right Skips to the start of the next song. Pressing and holding MUL TI-CONTROL right Performs fast forward. Pressing MUL TI-CONTROL left Skips to the start of the current song. Pressing it twice continuously will skip to the previous song.
2 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to select “ Play Mode ” . 3 Press the center of MUL TI-CONTROL to set. Each press of MUL TI-CONTROL changes the settings as follows: ! “ Repeat All ” : Repeats all songs in the selected list. ! “ Repeat One ” : Repeats just the current song.
2 When you select , operate the con- nected iPod to select a song and play . p Switching the control mode to pauses song playback. Operate the iP od to start playback. p Even if the control mode is set to , follow- ing functions are available from this naviga- tion system.
1 Press LIST button to display the top ca- tegory menu. p T o return to the previous screen, press BAND/ESC button. 2 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to display the de- sired category .
Y ou can use the navigation system to control an XM satellite digital tuner , which is sold se- parately . F or details concerning operation, refer to the XM tuner ’ s operation manuals. This section provides information on XM operations with the navigation system which differs from that described in the XM tuner ’ s operation man- ual.
Operating by hardware buttons Pressing BAND/ESC button Band can be selected from among XM 1 , XM 2 ,o r XM 3 . This is useful for switching the preset item. Pressing MUL TI-CONTROL up or down During Channel mode : Y ou can recall radio stations assigned to pre- set tuning keys to .

6 Press the center of MUL TI-CONTROL to store the selected team in memory . The game alert function will start on that team. p T o turn the Game Alert off of the selected team, press the center of MUL TI-CONTROL again. 7 Repeat these steps for selecting other teams.
The term “ external unit ” refers to future Pioneer devices that are not currently planned for , or to devices that allow control of basic functions although they are not fully con- trolled by the navigation system. T wo external units can be controlled by this navigation sys- tem.
Operate the externa l unit by using “ Function1 ”— “ Function4 ” The external unit can be operated by transmit- ting the operating commands set to Function1 — Function4 . 1 Display the “ Function Menu ” screen. = For details, refer to Screen switching over- view on page 70.
A stereo mini plug cable lets you connect your navigation system to auxiliar y equipment. F or more details, refer to the stereo mini plug cable owner ’ s manual.

Using the initial settings, you can customize various system settings to achieve optimal per- formance from this navigation system. Displaying the “ Initial Setting ” screen T o customize the initial settings, display the “ Initial Setting ” screen.

V ocal V ocal is a curve in which the midrange, which is the human vocal range, is boosted. Flat Flat is a flat curve in which nothing is boosted. Custom Custom is an adjusted equalizer curve that you cre- ate. A separate custom cur ve can be created for each source.
