Note: In this User Manual, “pr ess a key” means to press the ke y and release it, while “hold a key” means to press the key f or a t least two seconds and then release it.
Inserting the SIM C ard Note: Y ou can obtain a SIM card fr om your service pro vider when you sign on as a subscriber . Caution: • Do not bend, scratch, or touch the metal contacts of your SIM card. • Keep the card away from electrical appliances and magnets.
Removing the SIM Card Hold the Power Ke y to power off the phone. Remove the back co ver and batt ery . Gently remo ve the SIM card f rom the card slot. Inserting the microSD™ Card Note: This phone can support a memory card with a capacity of up to 32 GB.
Caution: Do not attempt to use memory cards other than microSD cards with this phone. Attempting to use non-compatible memory cards might cause loss of data or damage to the phone, and may void your Warranty. Removing the microSD Card Hold the Power Ke y to power off the phone.
When the batt ery is fully charged, unplug the charger and disconnect it from the phone. Notes: • The phone automatically powers off whenev er the batt ery power is too low . • Use only the charger supplied with the phone, or other chargers approv ed by ZTE.

Home Screen After powering on the phone, when the name of the network is display ed on the screen, the phone is in the home screen and ready f or use. The display has four ar eas: Indicators and Icons.

How to Make Calls F rom home scr een, enter a phone number . Press the Send K ey to place the call. Using the Address Book F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Address Book . Highlight a cont act and press the Send K ey t o call the contact. Refer t o the Address Book section in this manual f or more details.
D TMF off: Enable or disable D TMF tones (t ouch-tone sounds). End Call: Disconnect the current call. Adjusting the V olume During a call, press the V olume Up/Down K eys to adjust the earpiece or speaker volume. Recent Calls With this f eatur e, you can check the call log and call dura tion.
Y ou can store contacts with multiple phone numbers and email addresses, as well as a physical address and additional det ails. The phone can store up to 1000 it ems. Y our SIM card can store con tact informa tion as well; howev er , a SIM card may not be able to sav e all of the contact fields supported by the phone.
Configuring Speed Dial F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Address Book . Use the 4- W ay Navigation K ey t o select a contact, press the L eft Soft Key for Op tions . Scroll down to Set as Speed Dial . Pr ess the OK K ey to select. Press Up or Down on the 4- W ay Navigation K ey t o select an Unassigned slot.
17 Address Book Edit: E dit the highlighted contact’s inf ormation. Send Contact Inf o: Send the con tact inf ormation f ormatt ed as a business card via MMS message or in an email. Delete: Delet e the highlighted con tact. Add to Group: A dd the highlighted con tact to a gr oup: Colleagues, F amily , F riends, and more.
Ent ering T ext T o enter letters, press the lett er ke ys on the keyboar d. While on the home screen, y ou can use the 4- W ay Navigation K ey to access shortcuts: • Press up to start a SMS (text) message. • Press down to open the Address Book. • Press right to access Alarm.
Press ( Shift K ey ) to switch the uppercase and lowercase lett ers. Press the Shift Ke y twice to change to all caps. Press ( Alt K ey ) to en ter a number or alterna te char acter shown on a key . Press the Alt K ey twice t o change to numeric mode.
Messaging This phone supports the following message types: • T e xt Messages (SMS) • Multimedia (Picture) Messages (MMS) Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive te xt messages to and from other mobile phones and email addresses.
Viewing a Message The envelope icon ( ) will appear at the top of the scr een to notify you that you ha ve receiv ed a new message, and a message aler t will pop up. Press the OK K ey to view the message, or , from the home screen, select Main Menu Messaging C onversa tions to check your messages.
F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Messaging Create New Message . Press down on the 4- W ay Naviga tion Ke y to mo ve the cursor int o the T ext field. Select Options Insert Quick T ext . Select a Quick T ext message from the list and press the OK K ey to insert it .
V oicemail V oicemail Settings F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Messaging Settings V oicemail to determine the number to dial to retrie ve your v oice messages. Y our voicemail phone number is preset by your service provider . Y ou do not need to set it manually .
Email Setting Up Y our Email Account With the Email applica tion, you can access your email f rom various providers including A OL ® , Y ahoo! ® Mail, Gmail™ , AIM, ® and Hotmail. ® F rom the home screen, select Main Menu Email . Select the name of your email pro vider .
Scroll down and press the OK K e y to sign in. 25 Email.
Browsing the In ternet Browse the web directly f rom your mobile phone. Check the wea ther , visit your f avorit e websites, and enjo y access to the Int ernet on the go. Using Mobile W eb F rom the home screen, select Main Menu Browser . Press the L eft Soft Ke y f or Options and select New Link [*] to en ter a website address.
Y our phone includes suppor t for Bluetooth , which can be used t o connect your phone to a wir eless headset. Y ou can also us e it to transf er files between your phone and other Bluetooth de vices, such as another phone or a laptop . Note: Not all applications and de vices support Bluetooth .
W ait 60 seconds f or the phone to finish searching, or press the Right Soft K ey f or Stop if the t arget device appears in the list bef ore 60 seconds have elapsed. Highlight a device from the list and pr ess the OK Ke y f or Pair . Y ou may be asked to confirm a passk ey .
Receiving Data Enable Bluetooth function and pair the phone with the device from which you wish to r eceive the file. When the paired de vice tries to send a file to y our phone, a popup dialogue will appear in your screen. Press the L eft Soft K ey f or Ye s to authorize the connection.
The Camera fea ture allows y ou to tak e photos and shoot video clips. Z432 also fea tures a V oice Recorder for capturing notes. Capturing and Viewing Pictures Y our phone has an integrat ed digital camera, which allows y ou to capture images. Photos taken with the camer a can be stored in the phone’s memory or on the microSD card.
Capturing and Viewing Video Y our phone allows you to recor d, store, and play back video files. Recording a Video F rom the home scr een, hold the Camera K ey . Press right on the 4- W ay Navigation K ey t o switch to video camera mode. Press the OK Ke y to start recording.
Music Y our phone includes a free music player to pla y your music files and creat e playlists. Playing Music F rom the home screen, select Main Menu Music Music Player All Music .
Music Player The Music Player allows y ou to listen t o the songs you hav e stored on y our phone. There are six menus in the Music Play er . All Music: Displays a complete list of all songs curren tly on your phone. Playlists: Displays any playlists tha t you hav e creat ed, and allows you t o creat e new ones.
V oice Recorder This function allows you t o record a v oice memo. Y ou can also set the voice memo as a ringtone or message tone. F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu My Stuff T ools V oice Recorder . Select Start to start recording your voice memo .
Calendar With the Calendar f eatur e you can set appointmen ts and view ev ents. F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Calendar . Press the Left Soft Key for Op tions to access the f ollowing menu: New: Creat e a new appointment or t ask reminder .
A T & T Navigator is a location-based service that can pr ovide GPS navigation with turn-by -turn voice directions, f ull-color maps, and real- time traffic updat es. Y ou can also search for local businesses such as gas stations and r estauran ts in your immediat e vicinity .
T ools Alarm This fea ture allows y ou to set an alarm to ring a t a specific time. F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu My Stuff T ools Alarm . Press the OK K ey to edit and configur e the alarm as needed. Alarm Switch: T urns the alarm clock on or off .
T o change a note entry , press the OK Key twice f or Edit . T o add another new note, highlight any note in the not epad list. Press the L eft Soft Ke y f or Options and choose Add . T o delete a note, or send a note via te xt, MMS, email, or Bluetooth , use the Options menu and navigate accor dingly .
39 T ools Tip Calculator The Tip Calculator will automa tically calculate the tip a t a restaur ant, and it can also divide the bill according to the number of people in the party . F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu My Stuff T ools Tip Calculator .
W orld Time With this f eatur e, you can check the curr ent local time and dat e for major cities around the world. F rom the home screen, select Main Menu My Stuff T ools W orld Time . Press left or right on the 4- W ay Naviga tion Ke y to select a city .
41 T ools All Other Conversions Enter a number into one o f the two fields, using the 4- Wa y Navigation Key to mov e between the fields. T o change the unit of measuremen t, select the field whose unit you would like to change and pr ess the OK Ke y .
Display Settings F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Settings Display Settings . • Theme: Switch between display themes. • W allpaper: Set the background wallpaper , which will be displayed on the home screen. Y ou can select a photo saved in My Pictur es, or you can choose from one of the def ault pictures, pr eloaded on the phone.
43 Settings home screen only . F or example, you could assign right on the 4- W ay Navigation K ey t o start the Calculator . • Auto K eypad L ock: Configure your phone t o lock the keypad when it is not in use. Y ou can select the time delay from the available choices.
• Alert T ype: Set the ring type (e.g. vibrate, ring, vibrate and ring, and ascending ringtone). • Receiver V olume: Set the volume of the receiver . • Message T one: Set the notification ringtone for an incoming SMS or MMS message. • Ke y T one: Enable or disable keypad tones when dialing.
45 Settings Set by Network: The network chooses whether to show/hide your phone number . On: The call recipient will see your phone number . Off: The call recipient will not see your phone number . Auto Redial: Sets the phone to repea tedly redial, in the e ven t of a busy signal, until it successfully makes a connection.
PC Connection: Choose whether to connect your phone to a comput er via USB or Bluetooth . GPS: T urn on/o ff your GPS sta tus, or enable the Third-party GPS option. Security Settings Phone Password A password can prot ect your phone and help pre ven t unauthorized use.
47 Settings PIN Code A PIN is attached t o a SIM card. If the SIM card is mo ved to another phone, the same PIN will still be required in order t o make calls. W hen you assign a PIN to your SIM car d, you will need to en ter the PIN code when the phone is powered on.
Fix ed Dialing If you set Fix ed Dialing Sta tus to On, you can only dial numbers on the Fixed Dialing Numbers list. Y ou will need to ent er your PIN2 code to use this fea ture. Master Clear /Reset The Master Clear function will clear all user dat a and reset the phone to f actory def ault settings.
My Menu allows you t o customiz e shortcuts to frequen tly used functions on your phone. F rom the home screen, press the Le ft Soft Ke y f or Go T o . My Menu displays the list of menu shortcuts. Using the keypad, pr ess the number of the shortcut to access it immediately .
50 Accessibility Accessibility TT Y Mode Y our handset is a TT Y -compa tible device. Simply connect the TTY equipment to the headset jack. F rom the home scr een, select Main Menu Settings Phone Settings TT Y Setting . Select one of the following options and press the OK K e y .
General Care Y our handset contains delicate electr onic circuitry , magnets, and a Lithium-Ion battery . Y ou should treat it with care and giv e particular atten tion to the f ollowing points: • Do not allow the handset, battery , or accessories to come into cont act with liquids or moisture at any time.
• Do not connect a battery directly t o an electrical outlet or the cigarette lighter port of a car . Use only approved charging units. • Do not pierce a battery with a sharp object such as a needle. • When disposing of a battery , be sure it is nonconducting by applying vinyl tape to the (+) and (-) t erminals.
53 Care and Maintenance • Be careful not to place the handset near heat sources (such as a hea ter) or too close to the edge of a table. • Use a damp or anti-static cloth to clean the handset. Do not use an ordinary dry cloth or electrost atic cloth.
• Please check with your service provider regarding r oaming surcharges and network availability . Coverage may not be a vailable in some areas. • The use of mobile phones is not allowed in some areas, such as hospitals, research cen ters, and airplanes.
55 Care and Maintenance • Y our phone contains metal; individuals with certain conditions have been known to dev elop an itch, rash, or ecz ema from exposure to certain metals. CTIA Requiremen ts • Do not disassemble or open, crush, bend or deform, puncture or shred.
Aircraft Safety • When traveling b y air , power off your phone prior to tak eoff . • Obey all posted signs and crew instructions r egarding the use of mobile phones on the aircraft. • Be sure to check the alarm settings to ensure tha t the phone will not automatically power on during the fligh t.
57 Care and Maintenance • Electronic vehicle systems, such as anti-lock br akes, speed (cruise) control, and fuel injection syst ems are not normally aff ected b y radio transmissions. Observ e all warnings from y our vehicle’s manuf acturer regarding the use of mobile phones and possible int erference.
Contact your local authorities f or more information about appro ved disposal methods, or take it t o a local electronics ret ailer for pr oper disposal or recyclings. Emergency Ser vice Note: Emergency service numbers vary b y country . T o make an emergency call in any country: Ensure that y our handset is turned on and in service.
59 Care and Maintenance HA C Mode When HA C mode is active, your phone sends the audio signals fr om your phone to the telecoil ra ther than to the microphone o f your hearing aid. The HAC setting only impro ves the quality of sound tr ansmitted through the earpiece; it does not affect the speak erphone or a headset.
