Notes: In this User Manual, “press a k ey ” means to press the ke y and release it, while “hold a key” means to press the ke y for a t least two seconds and then release it. Removing the Back Cover Hold the Power /End Key to turn off the phone.
Hold the Power /End Key to turn off the phone. Remove the back co ver of your phone. Carefully insert the battery with the contacts loca ted against the metal springs. Push down the battery un til it clicks into place. Replace the cover on the back of the phone.
SIM and Memor y Cards Inserting the SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) Card Y ou can obtain a SIM card from y our service provider when you sign on as a subscriber . Caution: • Do not bend or scratch your SIM card. Keep the card away from electricity and magnetism.
Removing the SIM Card Hold the Power /End Key to turn off the phone. Remove the back co ver of your phone. Gently remo ve the SIM card fr om the card holder .
Caution: Only use approved memory cards for this device. An y use of unapproved memory cards might cause loss of data or damage to your phone. Removing the Memory Card Hold the Power /End Key to power off the phone. Remove the back co ver and battery .
Notes: • The phone automatically switches off if the battery pow er is too low . • Make sure the charger ’s connector is inserted correctly . Do not force the connector into the port. • The battery will remain fully charged f or 3 to 4 hours. • Only use the charger provided by the original pro vider .

Changing Input Mode Y ou can enter te xt into y our phone using the following input methods: Z iAbc, abc, Abc, ABC, and number input. Y ou can also switch the language between English and Spanish.
Entering L etters Press a number ke y ( 2 through 9 ) multiple times until the pref erred letter is shown on the screen. Press once to en ter the first letter on the k eypad, press twice quickly to enter the second lett er , and so on. • Press the 0 Key to add a space.
Making a V oice Call F rom idle mode, enter a phone number . Press the Send Key to call the number . Using the Address Book From idle mode, select Menu > Addr ess Book . Highlight a contact and press the Send K ey to call the con tact. Using Call Options During a call, you can press the L eft Soft Key f or more options.
Receiving Calls When a voice call comes in, pr ess the Send Ke y or the OK Ke y to answer the call. Tip: If you hav e connected a headset to the phone, y ou can press the button on the headset to answer the call. Adjusting the V olume During a call, press the V olume Keys t o adjust the earpiece or speaker volume.
T ype of Messages Y our phone provides the f ollowing message types: • T ext Messages (SMS) • Multimedia (Picture) Messages (MMS) • Instant Messaging (IMs) The Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive text messages to and from other mobile phones and email addresses.
Sending a New MMS Message Select Menu > Messaging > Create message , and press the OK Ke y for Select . Enter the recipient’s number or press the OK K ey for Contacts t o choose the recipient’s fr om your address book. Press down on the 4- W ay Navigation K ey to move t o the text field .
Instant Messaging The A T &T instan t mess aging service can enable you to cha t in real time using your fav orite instan t messaging provider , such as AIM, Y ahoo! Messenger , or Windows Live Messenger . By using this service, you can stay connect ed with your wireless phone.
Select the Screen Name field and then enter y our screen name/email/ID . Select the Password field and en ter your password. 22 Messages.
Use the 4- W ay Navigation K ey to move down and pr ess the OK Ke y for Sign In . Tip: Y ou can choose to mark the checkbox bef ore Save Password and A uto Sign in; and next time when the A T& T instant messaging is launched, you will aut omatically sign in to your messenger account.
V oice Mail V oice Mail Settings F rom idle mode, select Menu > Messaging > Settings > V oicemail number to check the voicemail number . Y our voicemail phone number is preset by your service provider .
Notes: • Y ou cannot receive new messages if the message memory is full. • The total amount of space available f or saving messages is determined by the space available on the phone and SIM card.

Carry your email inbox in y our pocket! W ith Mobile Email 3. 0 , you can access numerous providers, including A T & T , ® AOL , ® Y ahoo!, Gmail ™ , AIM, Windows Live, and others. In idle mode, select Menu > Email & IM > Mobile Email .
Press the OK K ey f or Sign In . After successful login, you will be able to view all the emails in your inbo x. Select an email and press Read to read it; pr ess Options f or more operation.
Y ou can store contacts with a v ariety of phone and fax numbers and additional address details. The phone can store up to 500 it ems. The capacity of the phone book on your SIM card depends on the type of SIM card pro vided by your service provider .
Searching Contact Select Menu > Address Book to view all the contacts on your phone. Enter a letter , and then the phone will show all the contacts starting with such a letter . eg: T o s earch “ John”, press the 5 Key once f or ‘j’. All names star ting with ‘ J’ or ‘j’ are displayed.
Using Address Book Entr y Options F rom idle mode, select Menu > Address Book . Scroll to the desired contact and pr ess the Left Soft K ey f or more options: Call: Call the highlighted contact. Send message: Send SMS or MMS messages to this contact.
Y our phone includes suppor t f or Bluetooth , which can be used to connect your phone to a wireless headset. Y ou can also use it to transf er files between your phone and other Bluetooth devices, such as another phone or a laptop .
There are two options f or Bluetooth connection: • A utomatic: Set another Bluetooth de vice that is connecting to your phone as an authorized de vice. • Alw ays Ask: Set another Bluetooth device that is connecting t o your phone as an unauthorized de vice that must ask bef ore connecting.
Mobile W eb Browse the web directly fr om your mobile phone. Check the weather , visit your fav orite websites, and enjo y access to the Int ernet on the go.
Mobile W eb options: • Home: Return t o the att.net homepage. • Go t o URL: Enter a new web addr ess. • Go t o Search: Enter sear ch terms. • Hist ory: View your web browsing hist ory . • Go t o Bookmarks: Access your list of f avorite sites.
T ools Alarm This fea ture allows you t o set an alarm to ring at a specific time. F rom idle mode, select Menu > My Stuff > T ools > Alarm .
• Go t o date: En ter a date and view the scheduled e vents of tha t day . • D elete entry: Y ou can choose to delete entries On this day , Before da te, or All entries. • Se ttings: Y ou can set the Calendar alarm tone, Default view , and Week starts on.
Tip Calculator With this f eature, it will be easy to calculate the tip or det ermine how much each person should pay in your group . F rom idle mode, select Menu > My Stuff > T ools > Tip Calculator . Enter the tot al bill by using the Number K eys .
Press the Left Soft Ke y to save the selected city time as the time setting on your phone. Press the Right Soft K ey to exit. Currency Conversion This fea ture allows you t o convert foreign currency t o domestic currency . F rom idle mode, select Menu > My Stuff > T ools > Currency conversion .
Ent ertainment Y our phone allows you to use a camera, video camera, and v oice recorder to take photos, shoot video clips, recor d voice memos, and more.
F rom idle mode, select Menu > My Stuff > T ools > Camera . Press right on the 4- W ay Navigation Ke y to switch to video camer a mode. Press the OK Key to st art recording. Press the OK K ey to pause. Press the OK Key f or C ontinue to r esume recording.
Starting AT & T Music F rom idle mode, select Menu > AT & T Music . Accept the terms and conditions of service. The screen then displays a warning that this fea ture uses large amounts of da ta and recommends subscribing to an unlimited da ta plan.
Discover Scr een Provides the ability to sear ch the A T &T Music song cat alog for songs b y fav orite artists. Song Match enables users to quickly find the name and artist of a song by holding their phone up to a song playing on the r adio, TV , or jukebox, and L yric Match allows lookup of artist/song informa tion based on song lyrics.

Select the social network of your choice from the top row . Enter your login and password. Select Sign in . And now y ou are able to access your social network.

AT & T GPS A T &T GPS is a location-based service tha t can provide GPS naviga tion with turn- by-turn v oice directions and traffic updat es, keep track of f amily members, find local gas stations and movie thea ters, calculat e calories burned during exer cise, and more, all on your mobile phone.
A T & T F amily Map A T &T F amily Map gives you peace o f mind by being able to conv eniently locat e a family member’s wireless phone on a map from your mobile phone or PC. Befor e accessing this application you must first sign-up at h ttp://f amilymap.
Maps A T &T Maps allows y ou to view your curren t location and map out additional locations. Y ou can also enter addresses and find curr ent businesses located near your curren t location. Get Directions From idle mode, select Menu > A T &T GPS > Maps .
WHERE ® WHERE offers y ou weather , news, gas prices, and the ability to search f or other local informa tion based on your current loca tion. From idle mode, select Menu > A T &T GPS > WHERE . The phone will store the previous location en tered.
Settings Sound Profile Settings Y ou can set and edit an appropriate profile depending on y our current environment. F rom idle mode, select Menu > Settings > Sound Profiles . Select a profile and press the Left Soft K ey f or Edit . • Select Voice call ringtone to set the v oice call ringtone.
• Select Own phone number to display your phone number in idle mode to remind you which SIM card y ou are using. • Select Download location to choose phone or memory card to sav e files while downloading. • Select T TY setting to enable the TT Y function.
Connection Settings F rom idle mode, select Menu > Settings > Connections . • Select Bluetooth to set up your phone as a Bluetooth device. • Select Access point settings to add to, edit, or view the access point list. • Select Modem setting to edit modem name, APN, and enable authentication.
Answer mode • Flip open: This function allows you to answer an incoming call by dir ectly opening the flip, but without pr essing the Send Ke y or OK Ke y . • Any key: This function allows you t o answer an incoming call by pressing an y key on the keypad, without limit ation to the Send K ey or OK Key .
PIN Codes A PIN code is the personal identification code used by the SIM car d. Its purpose is to avoid illegal use of y our SIM card. The correct PIN code should be ent ered when the new phone is first turned on, otherwise the phone will only be able to make emergency calls.
Fix ed Dial Numbers If you enable fixed dial numbers, y ou cannot dial phone numbers that are not in the FDN list. FDN List Allows you to cr eate a list of fix ed dial numbers. Airplane Mode F rom idle mode, select Menu > Settings > Airplane mode to switch on/off airplane mode.
Accessibility TT Y Mode Y our handset is a TT Y -compatible device. Simply connect the TTY equipment to the headset jack. F rom idle mode, select Menu > Settings > Phone > TT Y setting . Select one of the following options and press the OK K ey f or Select .
General Care Y our handset contains delicate electr onic circuitry , magnets and battery systems. Y ou should treat it with care and giv e particular attention to the f ollowing points: • Do not allow the handset, battery or accessories to come into cont act with liquids or moisture at any time.
• Do not put a battery into a micro wave ov en, dryer , or high-pressure con tainer . • Do not contact battery directly t o an electric outlet or cigarette light er charger . Use only approved char g er units. • Do not pierce battery with a sharp object such as a needle.
• Third par ty equipment: The use of third party equipment, cables or accessories, not made or authorized b y manufacturer , may invalidate the warran ty of your handset and also adversely affect the phone’s saf ety/operation. • Remember to make backup copies of all important data on your handset.
• Do not use the handset where blasting is in progress. • Do not try to make a call or conversation while the t emperatur e of charging battery is abo ve 122°F (50°C). • T ake care not to put your handset in the back pocket of y our trousers or skirt and then sit on it.
• Replace the battery only with another battery that has been qualified with the system per this standard, IEEE-St d-1725-2006 . Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fir e, explosion, leak age or other hazard. • Promptly dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations.
Road Safety • Y ou must ex ercise proper contr ol of your vehicle a t all times. Give your full atten tion to driving. • Observe all of the recommendations con tained in your local traffic saf ety documenta tion. • Pull off the road and park before making or answering a call, if driving conditions require so .
