1 About Caller Identification This product is designed to store and display information about incoming telephone calls. It must be used with Caller Identification service provided by your local telephone company; there is a fee f or this service, and it may not be available in all ar eas.
2 Battery Installation This telephone requires three AA alkaline batteries in order f or Caller ID , Memory , and the New Call light to wor k. NOTE: This telephone r etains memor y without charg ed batteries f or 5 minutes. If battery power is lost f or mor e than 5 minutes, the call histor y , memory numbers and all featur e settings will be lost.
3 T elephone Installation T able/Desk 1 Plug one end of the long line cord into the telephone line jack. 2 Feed the line cord thr ough the channel (so the phone will sit f lat). 4 4 Plug the coiled cord into the jack on the base. Plug the other end into the handset, then hang up. 5 Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. If you can’t hear a dial tone, see IN CASE OF DIFFICUL TY .
5 Wall Installation 1 Reverse the handset tab. INST ALLA TION Modular telephone wall jack Channel T elephone line jack Mounting ar ea Line Cor d 3 Feed the line cord into the c hannel and wind it around and out of the mounting area as shown. 4 Connect the other end to a wall jack.
6 Feature Settings Summary Default settings are mar ked with an asterisk (*). Option: Choice: W HICH L ANGU AGE Choose whether the ENGLISH* display appears in English, FRENCH Frenc h or Spanish. SPANISH C ONTRAST Adjust screen lighting to 1 2 3* 4 5 a comfortable level, from 1 (light) to 5 (dark).
7 Set Contrast Y ou can adjust the screen lighting to a comf or table level from 1 (light) to 5 (dar k). 1 Press and release N until the screen displays the current level and SET CONTRAST . 2 Press - or + until the screen displays y our selection. 3 Press N .
8 Set Local Area Code(s) Local Area Codes are area codes associated with other phone numbers for which y ou must dial the area code, but do not dial “1”. This includes your own area code if y ou must dial the area code but no “1” to make calls in your own area code.
9 Making and Answering Calls T o mak e or answer a call, lift the handset. 1 Handset Volume Adjust volume of what y ou hear through the handset ( LO , MED or HI ). 2 Redial Lift the handset, then press to call the last number dialed (up to 32 digits).
10 1 New Call Light This light f lashes when y ou have unr eviewed call inf ormation in the call history . 2 Flash Use F to activate phone company subscriber services such as 3-W ay Calling or Call W aiting.
11 1 Directory Card Lift the plastic cov er of f the directory card to write the numbers (or names) stor ed in telephone memory on the car d. Then, re place the plastic cov er . TELEPHONE MEMOR Y This telephone can store 13 telephone numbers, each up to 32 digits long.
12 1 One-T ouch Dialing 1 Lift the handset. 2 Pr ess a memor y button. The number will be display ed on screen during dialing. 2 T wo-T ouch Dialing: 1 Lift the handset. 2 Pr ess and release m , then pr ess the number button (0–9) wher e the memory number is stor ed.
13 3 Storing a Pause in a Memory Number 1 Lift the handset. 2 Pr ess and release once to store a 2.6-second pause in the dialing sequence, twice f or a 5.2-second delay , three times f or a 7.8-second delay . NOTE: Each 2.6-second pause counts as one digit when storing numbers in telephone memory .
14 About Caller Identification When the first call is received, the unit sets the current time and date automatically (you cannot set them), and resets them each time a new call comes in. (The time and date show 12:00 AM and 1-01 until Caller ID inf or mation is received.
15 CALLER ID OPERA TION 2 1 4 3 1 New Call Light This light f lashes when y ou have unr eviewed calls in call history . T o turn the light off , re view all call r ecords in call history . 2 Call History This product assigns each incoming call a number fr om 1 to 70.
16 1 Display Dial Dial a display ed phone number while reviewing calls in call history . 1 Pr ess and release D . The screen displays the n umber being called. If the scr een displays ERROR , the present n umber cannot be dialed. 2 Lift the handset. Y ou cannot use this f eature to dial PRIVATE calls.
17 Storing a Call Record into Memory 1 Lift the handset 2 Press + or - to display the call recor d you wish to store in memor y . 3 Press P . 4 For one-touc h dialing, press and release the memor y bu.
18 Display Screen Messages Screen Displays: When: PRIVATE NAME The other party is blocking name information. PPP The other party is blocking number information. UNAVAILABLE Y our phone company is unable to receive information about this caller’ s name.

20 New Call Light Does Not Go On • Make sure you have installed thr ee AA alkaline batteries with cor rect polarity . • Replace old batter ies with three new ones. Screen is Blank • Make sure you have correctl y installed three AA alkaline batteries.
