1 Pr oduct overview This A T&T TR1909 Trimline® t elephone with caller ID/call waiting can be used either in desktop or wall mount position, and r equires four AA alkaline bat teries (not included) for all functions. The telephone can still operat e with limited featur es when there are no batteries inst alled.

Unplug the telephone line cor d from the tel ephone wall jack and remove the c ord from the sl ots under the telephone base.

14 15 T elephone settings Repeat steps 2 and 3 f or the second and third digits of your home area code. Press OPTION /SELE CT to save the home ar ea code and continue to set the local ar ea code.
16 T elephone settings 17 Time and da te This featur e enables you to set the time and date to be shown when the telephone is in idle mode. If you subscribe t o caller ID service (see About caller ID on page 23), the time and dat e are set automatically with each incoming call.
16 17 T elephone settings Language This telephone comes f actory set for English displays. If you wish to change the displayed language t o Spanish or French, follow the steps below: Press OPTION/ SELE CT repeatedly until the screen displays SET LANGU AGE .

24 Caller ID operation 25 This telephone delet es the earliest entry when the log is full to make r oom for new calls. The call log stor es information about the last 80 incoming calls. NO TES: The caller’s name (up to 16 charact ers) is sent by your telephone service provider if you subscribe t o caller ID/call waiting service.

Make sur e that all telephones on the same line are hung up. Inspect the telephone line cor d connection at the wall jack.
30 Appendix 31 If you subscribe to high-speed Internet servic e (DSL - digital subscriber line) through your t elephone line, you must install a DSL filter between the t elephone line cord and the t elephone wall jack. The filter pr events noise and caller ID probl ems caused by DSL interf erence.
