1 Getting started Avoid placing the headset char ger too close to: • Communication devices such as: television sets, VCRs, or other cordl ess telephones. • Excessive heat sourc es. • Noise sources such as a window with traffic outside, mot ors, microwav e ovens, refriger ators, or fluor escent lighting.
2 Getting started IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Use only the power adapter supplied with this pr oduct. T o order a replacement power adapt er , visit our website at www .telephones.a tt.c om , or call 1 (800) 222-3111 . In Canada, dial 1 (866) 288-4268 . The power adapter is intended t o be correctly orient ed in a vertical or floor mount position.
3 Getting started Bat t ery installation Install the batt ery as shown below. F or optimal performance, charge the headset bat tery for at least six hours bef ore use.

6 Getting started R egist ering the headset T o regis ter a headset t o the DECT headset base: Make sur e the battery is pr operly installed in the headset (see page 3). The ON/OFF light flashes twice every five seconds t o indicate the headset is not register ed.

16 Getting started T o remove the headset from the ring of the neckband: Hold the headset with one hand and the neckband ring with the other hand. Twist and pull the headset until it separ ates from the ring of the neckband.

23 Operation Headset alert tones Three quick beeps. V OL UM E + – keys ar e pressed when the volume is already at its highest or lowest setting. The headset is not register ed and the headset ON/OFF button was pressed. The headset has gone out of range from the headset base during a call.
24 Operation ON/OFF light status On Headset is charging in the headset charger . Headset is trying to r egister to the headset base or telephone base. Headset may be too f ar from the headset base. • • • Flash Flashes slowly when incorr ect battery is inst alled.
25 De-registration R eplacing a headset Y ou may need to de-r egister your headsets if: Y ou have two register ed headsets and need to replac e one of them. -OR- Y ou wish to change the designated headset number and/or the color of the ON/OFF light of your r egistered headset s.

27 Maintenance and T roubleshooting My headset doesn’t work at all. • Make sure the power cor d is securely plugged in. • Make sure the batt ery connector is secur ely plugged into the cor dless headset. • Make sure the tel ephone line cord is securely and firml y plugged into the headset or telephone base and the telephone wall jack.
28 Maintenance and T roubleshooting • If the previous suggestions do not work, disconnect the headset or telephone base from the t elephone jack and connect a different phone. If ther e is no dial tone on that phone either , the problem is in y our wiring or local service.
29 Maintenance and T roubleshooting • First try all the suggestions above. • Make sure you hav e a dial tone befor e dialing. The cordl ess headset may take a second or two to find the headset or telephone base and pr oduce a dial tone. This is normal.
30 Maintenance and T roubleshooting My cordl ess headset isn’t performing normally . • Make sure the power cor d is securely plugged into the headset base or charger . Plug the unit into a differ ent, working electrical outlet not contr olled by a wall switch.

33 Maintenance and T roubleshooting I hear other calls while using my headset. • Disconnect the headset or telephone base from the t elephone jack, and plug in a different t elephone. If you still hear other calls, the problem is pr obably in your building’s wiring or local service.
34 Maintenance and T roubleshooting • Test a working phone at the phone jack. If another phone has the same problem, the problem is the phone jack, wiring or service. Contact your local t elephone company (charges ma y apply). • Other electronic products can cause interfer ence with your cor dless headset.

36 Maintenance and T roubleshooting The ON/OFF light on the headset is off while charging. • Make sure the power and line cor ds are plugged in correctl y and securely . Make sur e that the battery connect or is securely plugged int o the cordless headset.
37 Maintenance and T roubleshooting I cannot register the headset. For r egistration to a cor dless telephone: Y ou must be using a compatible AT&T DECT 6.0 cor dless telephone. Visit www .telephones.a tt.c om for a list of compatible tel ephones.
38 Maintenance and T roubleshooting Common cure for electr onic equipment. If the unit does not seem to be responding normally , try putting the cor dless headset in its base or charger . If it does not seem to respond, do the foll owing (in the order listed): • Disconnect the power to the headset charger and the headset or tel ephone base.
