Registration Befor e using a new E597-1 handset, y ou must r egister it with the E5917/ E5926/E5927B/E5937B/E5938B/E5939B/E5947B base. The handset pr ovided with your E5926/E5917 is automaticall y register ed as Handset 1. Additional handsets will be assigned numbers in the or der they ar e register ed (Handset 2, Handset 3, or Handset 4).
Registration Handset 1 Handset 2 Handset 3 Handset 4 • Press and hold HANDSET LOCA TOR on the main telephone base until the IN USE light comes on (about 4 seconds), then release the button. • The handset will show PLEASE W AIT ... for a while.
If you ar e replacing a handset on a system that has the maximum number of register ed handsets (4) or wish to change the assigned handset num- ber of your r egistered handsets, you m ust first de-register all the hand- sets, and then re-r egister all handsets.
8 Belt clip & optional headset Install belt clip as shown below if desir ed. For hands -fr ee tele phone c onv ersations , yo u can use an y industry stan dard 2.5 mm headse t (pur chased s eparate ly). For best results use an A T&T 2.5 mm headset.
