Pr oduct overview This A T&T CL2909 speakerphone with call er ID/call waiting can be used flat on a tabletop or mount ed on a wall and does not requir e AC power for operation.
Getting started 2 Quick r ef er ence guide PROG Press to pr ogram numbers stored in one-t ouch locations (page 20). REDIAL Press to r edial the last number dialed (page 15). FLASH During a call, press to r eceive an incoming call if you subscribe to the call waiting service from your t elephone service provider (page 17).
Getting started 3 Display scr een messages Displays Means ST ORED The telephone number displayed is stored. DELETED All the entries stored in call hist ory have been deleted. END OF LIST Y ou have reached the end of the call hist ory recor ds. DIRECT ORY EMPTY There are no t elephone numbers stor ed in the directory .
Getting started 4 Bat t ery inst allation Befor e using the telephone, you should inst all four good AA alkaline bat teries (not included) to pr ovide memory backup and enable the use of some featur es.
Getting started 5 Install ation options The telephone base comes with the mounting br acket alr eady installed for tablet op use. If you want to mount your t elephone on a wall, use the provided wall br acket t o connect with a standar d dual-stud telephone wall mounting plate.
6 Connect the handset to the t elephone. Plug the coiled handset cor d into the handset jack on the left side of the telephone base. Plug the other end of the coil ed cord int o the handset, then hang up. 4. Check for dial t one. Lift the handset and listen for a dial t one.
7 Install ation options W all inst allation Reposition the mounting br acket f or wall use. Press on the mounting brack et as shown in figure a to r elease the brack et. Rotat e the brack et as shown in figur e b so that the larger end is tow ard the bottom of the t elephone.
Getting started 8 Rev erse the handset tab. This tab holds the handset when you hang up. Hold down the swit chhook, and slide the handset tab up and out of its slot. T urn the tab so that the end with the hook is up. Then insert the handset tab back into its sl ot.
Getting started 9 Data port If you want to connect another devic e (such as a modem or fax machine) t o the wall jack, use the jack on the telephone labeled D A T A . A call picked up at another extension c onnected with the same line may int errupt a fax, modem or message transmission.
10 T el ephone set tings The screen will display pr ompts to help you set up the telephone when you first inst all it. Y ou can always get back to these set up screens by pressing OPTIONS . NO TE : Y ou can exit featur e setup at any time by pressing CLEAR or by lifting the handset when there is no incoming call.

16 T elephone operation 16 T el ephone oper ation Chain dialing Chain dialing is useful if you need to ac cess numbers other than telephone numbers (such as bank account numbers or ac cess codes) fr om the directory , one-touch locations or call history .
17 T elephone operation 17 T el ephone oper ation Flash/call waiting If you subscribe to call waiting service with y our telephone service pr ovider , you can answer a new incoming call without losing your curr ent call. While on a call, press FLASH to connect to the new call when you rec eive a call waiting signal.
18 T elephone operation 18 T el ephone oper ation Ringer volume Use the ringer switch on the right side of the base to adjust the ringer volume to OFF , L O or HI . If the ringer switch is set to OFF , this t elephone will not ring when there is an incoming call.
One-touch operation 19 One-t ouch oper ation One-touch ov erview This telephone has 14 one-touch l ocations where you can stor e telephone numbers y ou want to dial using only one or two ke ys. Y ou can store up to 24 digits in each location. The first seven locations can be accessed using the one-touch but tons.
One-touch operation 20 One-t ouch oper ation Stor e a number in a one-touch location Press PROG , the screen displays ENTER NUMBER . Enter the tel ephone number you want to stor e (up to 24 digits). Use CALL LIS T to backspace and make corr ections. -OR- Press REDIAL to st ore the last number dial ed.
One-touch operation 21 One-t ouch oper ation Review a one-t ouch entry Press the one-touch but ton for the entry y ou want to r eview. -OR- Press L OWER , then press the one-touch butt on for the entry you want to r eview. Press PROG or CLEAR to return t o idle mode.
Directory 22 Dir ectory oper ation Dir ectory memory capacity This telephone has a dir ectory wher e you can store up t o 25 additional telephone number s and names. Numbers can be up to 24 digits long and names can be up to 15 charact ers. Directory entries ar e stored in alphabetical order .

25 Caller ID oper ation Caller ID inf ormation This product has a caller ID with call waiting featur e that works with services from your telephone service pr ovider . Caller ID with call waiting lets you see who is calling befor e you answer the telephone, even when you are on another call.

Caller ID operation 28 LOWER Remov e call r ecor ds Remov e a specific call r ecor d Press CALL LIS T or CALL LIST to display the call recor d you want t o remove. Press REMOVE . The call recor d is remo ved. Remov e all call r ecor ds When the telephone is idle, pr ess and hold REMOVE until the scr een displays (for appro ximately 3 sec onds): 1.
Caller ID operation 29 Caller ID oper ation Dialing options If the number displayed in the call history needs to have a 1 or the ar ea code added or r emoved, you can do that. When the number you wish to call is displayed, pr ess OPTIONS and then press CALL LIS T or CALL LIS T to scroll through the dialing format choices.

31 T r oubleshooting Caller ID isn’t working. Caller ID is a subscription service. Y ou must subscribe to this service from y our telephone service pr ovider for this featur e to work on your tel ephone.
32 Maint enance T aking care of y our tel ephone Y our telephone contains sophisticated electr onic parts, so it must be treated with car e. Avoid r ough treatment. Place the handset down gently . Save the original packing materials to protect y our telephone if you ev er need to ship it.
