EN • It is very easy to tell when the keypad is disabled, as the keypad backlight will be off. • T o turn keypad backlight on and activ ate the keypad, touch any of the number ke ys, wait for the bac klight to come on and then dial normally . NO TE: If more than one ke y area is touched, the ke ypad may not activ ate.
EN EN HANDSET BA TTER Y P ACK The handset uses 1 NiMH 650 mAh 3.6V (AAA) rechargeable batter y pack. The remov able batter y pack is already pre-installed in the handset for y ou. NO TE: Before using the handset, and to prolong battery life, place the handset in the base handset cradle and charge f or at least 15 hours.
EN EN The battery icon indicates the batter y status: FULL EMPTY When the batt ery is low , there will be an audib le signal and ‘LO W BA TTER Y’ will appear on the screen. Removing and replacing handset battery pack After years of use, all NiMH rechargeable batteries loose the ability to hold a full charge and ma y need to be replaced.
EN Attach the belt clip as shown: T o make a call: • T ouch and wait f or a dial tone. • Enter destination phone number using numbers 0 - 9 . If you mak e an error , touch to cancel. T o pre-dial a call: • Enter destination phone number using numbers 0 - 9 .
EN 11 the manual Ke y Lock f eature (see the SMART KEY LOCK section in this manual on P age 26 for more details). T o activate speakerphone during a call: • While in T alk mode, touch . ‘SPKR’ will appear on the handset display to indicate the speak er phone is activated.
EN When the handset has been inactive for a while, it will enter sleep mode and the LCD backlight and key lights will switch off. Press any key to return to standby mode.

EN 15 CALLER ID DISPLA Y If you subscribe to Caller ID service through your local phone company , the handset will displa y details in accordance with your Caller ID service. If the number of the incoming call is stored in the Phonebook, the name as it is entered will also be display ed.
EN 16 The number stored in call log can be ref ormatted pr ior to dialing. T o edit the number: 1. T ouch or to select the number you wish to dial from call log memory . 2. T ouch . The n umber you selected can now be ref or matted by touching again to choose the format you pref er, and also touch 0-9 to edit prefix while reformatting.
EN 5. T ouch to confir m name or press to edit the name before saving. 6. T ouch to confir m number or press to edit the number before sa ving. F or long distance calls, you must add a 1 at the start of the number f or correct dialing. 7. The record is now saved.
EN 18 If you miss a call, ‘MISSED CALL ’ will appear with the time of the last call received. After you re viewed the call log, the MISSED CALL record will disappear . T o view your MISSED CALL, use or to enter and browse the call log (see the section in this manual titled VIEWING AND CALLING CALLER ID RECORDS P age 15 for more details).
EN 19 T o call your pre-pr ogrammed voice mail number: 1. T ouch , your voice mail number will appear . 2. If you have pre-prog rammed your voice mail access number , it will be automatically dialed. EN 23 The handset can display inf or mation in English, Spanish, or F rench. T o change language: 1. Go to Language menu. 2. Use or to select desired language. 3. T ouch to confir m. T o adjust screen contrast: 1. Go to Phone Setup menu > Set Contrast.
EN 24 T o adjust ring tone: 1. Go to Ring Setting menu > Ring T one 2. Select ‘EXTERNAL CALL ’ or ‘INTERCOM CALL ’ . 3. Use or t to select ring tone. 4. T ouch to confir m. T o adjust key tone: Adjust ing the key tone allows you to change the sound the key makes when touched.
EN 25 NO TE: Due to radio interf erence, occasional loss of synchronization between the handset and base unit ma y occur. If this happens, the base unit will v ery quickly switch to another channel and automatically restore synchronization. T o reset the handset to the default setting: 1.

EN • Once the handset is located, touch any ke y to discontinue paging. The ID-2820 may be used with an y industry standard two-band 2.5mm headset (not included). Connect the headset to the jack located on the side of the handset. Y our phone is now ready f or headset use.
EN 4. ‘REGISTERING’ appears instead of you will see the message. Press and hold the P AGE k ey on the cradle of the base unit. This ma y take up to a minute. 5. ‘REGISTRA TION A CCEPTED’ indicates that handset is registered. ‘RETR Y?’ indicates that registration has f ailed.

EN See below for some common problems and their remedies . Whatev er the problem, y ou should first check that: • The base unit is connected to the power supply and phone line . • The main power is s witched on at the electr ical outlet. • The handset battery is installed and has not r un out of power .
EN • Full name and number (including area code) need to be stored in Phonebook f or name display if the name is unav ailable through Caller ID . • Y ou must subscr ibe to the Call Waiting Caller ID service for this f eature to wor k. Contact your local phone compan y to confirm you hav e signed up for Call Waiting Caller ID service.
EN • A maximum of 4 units can be registered at one time. De-register a handset and try again. • Make sure y ou select a base number that has not been assigned. • Make sure that y ou are attempting to register only an A T&T ID-282H handset. • Only one external call and one internal intercom call can take place at once .
EN 9. T o reduce the risk of electr ic shock, do not disassemb le this product, but take it to a qualified serviceperson when some ser vice or repair work is required. Opening or remo ving covers ma y expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electr ic shock when the appliance is subsequently used.
