8 BEFORE Y OU BEGIN This pr oduct meets the applicable Industry Canada technical speci - cations. About Caller Identication (Caller ID) This pr oduct has a caller ID with call waiting featur e which works with ser vice a vailable from y our local telephone ser vice pr ovider .
9 INST ALLA TION Batter y Installation This telephone requir es four AA batteries (not included) in order f or the caller ID with call waiting, memor y , and new call light to work. For best r esults, use alkaline or hea vy duty batteries. 1. Press on the tab to open the co ver of the batter y compartment.
10 INST ALLA TION T elephone Installation W all-Mount Installation 1. Mak e sure mounting adapter is attached to the bottom portion of the set, so that the front of the telephone base will be about parallel to the wall, once it is mounted. 2. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the telephone line jack at the bottom of the telephone base.
11 INST ALLA TION Desktop Installation 1. Remov e the mounting adapter from the telephone base by pr essing down with your thumbs as indicated by the arr ows in the diagram. 2. T urn the mounting ada pter upside down so that the telephone line cord channel leads the line out fr om the top of the telephone base.
12 INST ALLA TION Handset Installation 1. Plug one end of the handset cord into the jack on the side of the tele- phone base. 2. Plug the other end of the handset cord into the handset and put the hand- set on the telephone base with the screen facing up .
13 TELEPHONE OPERA TION Handset Operation Handset V olume Adjust listening volume on the handset ( LO , MED , or HI ) MUTE Press and hold MUTE to mute the microphone to pre vent the other party from hearing you but y ou will still be able to hear the other party .
14 Lo w Batter y The batteries in the telephone base need to be replaced. See Batter y Installation on on page 9. Line Status Indicator This line status icon will light when this phone or another phone on the same line is in use.
15 TELEPHONE OPERA TION T elephone Base RINGER V olume Adjust the volume of the telephone ringer . If it is set to OFF , this telephone will not ring when there is an incoming call.

19 FEA TURE SETTINGS Set Home Area Code (HA C) Home ar ea code is the area code associated with y our telephone number . It is necessar y to program a home area code so the telephone can properl y display incoming calls and dial the telephone numbers fr om the call log.
20 FEA TURE SETTINGS Set Local Area Codes (LA Cs) Local area codes are area codes associated with other telephone numbers for which you must dial the area code, but do not need to dial 1. This includes your own area code if you must dial the area code but not 1 to mak e calls in your own area code.
21 FEA TURE SETTINGS Set Time/Date This feature sets the time and the date display ed on the screen when the tele- phone is in idle mode. 1. After setting the local area codes (or from the idle screen, press OPTIONS sev en times), the screen will show: 2.
22 FEA TURE SETTINGS Call W aiting Set the kind of subscribed call waiting ser vice fr om your service pro vider : NO TE: If y ou subscribe to combined caller ID with call waiting ser vice from your local telephone ser vice provider , you need to turn this feature on in order to see call information for call waiting calls.

24 TELEPHONE MEMOR Y This telephone can store 13 telephone numbers, each up to 32 digits. Dial the numbers stor ed in memor y by pressing one or tw o buttons.

28 CALLER ID OPERA TION About Caller Identication When the rst call is receiv ed, the telephone sets the current time and date automatically , and updates them each time a new call comes in.
29 CALLER ID OPERA TION Setting Options Call Log A number (fr om 01 to 80) is assigned numerically in ascending order f or each incoming call. The most recent call will ha ve the high- est number . Only the new est entr y from a telephone number will be sa ved.
