8 C2694M (7/08) Description The GW5000 gateway de livers video from th e Endura networ k to users communi cating through a public network with limite d bandwidt h, such as a Local Area Network (LAN) , Wide Area Network (W AN), or the Inte rnet.
C2694M (7/08 ) 9 Before Y ou Begin Endura is a network system that re quires a contin uous amount of bandwidth to transmit tr ue, live video. Therefore, always inclu de y our network administrator when plan ning and installing Endura components.

12 C2694M (7/08) Equipment Placement and Rack Mounting The GW5000 ca n be placed on a flat surface, su ch as a desk top, or mo unted in an e quipment r ack.
C2694M (7/08 ) 13 RACK MOUNTING The GW5000 mou nts into an industry-s tandard 19 -inch (48 cm) e quipment ra ck. The GW50 00 occupies o ne rack unit (1.75 inches or 4 .5 cm) of vertical ra ck space. The hardware ne cessary to mo unt the G W5000 into a rack is suppl ied with the unit.
14 C2694M (7/08) 3. Attach one front- mount rail to one re ar -mount rail. Make sure the ra ils are mounted back to back, as shown in Figure 8. Use th re e 8-32 x 0.375-inch Phillips truss head screws for ea ch rail set. Leave the scr ews loose until step 8.

18 C2694M (7/08) Operation The GW5000 gat eway manages all connections with NET5301-TC tr ansc oders. When the gateway receives a request from a W eb client t o send a video stream, t he gateway dete rmines whether the video needs to be routed thro ugh a transc oder to cover t the video into a for mat th at can be used by the W eb client.
C2694M (7/08 ) 19 u Unit Status Unit status is indicated by one of the following th ree colors: • Green: The unit is functioning normally. • Amber: The unit is in configur ation mode. • Red: The unit is in an error condition (refer to Appendix F: T ro ubleshootin g on page 40).

C2694M (7/08 ) 33 EDITING USER ATTRIBUTES AND ROLES SETTING USER ATTRIBUTES After crea ting the user name and pa ssword (refer to Creati ng a User on page 32), the Attributes section of th e page lists the most commonly used attributes. Set t he values for these at tributes for th is new user (or modify va lues for existing users).

In ad dition to g reater reliab ility , th is drive can be easi ly replaced if a failure occurs. NOTES: • Y ou must shut down the unit to repla ce the operating system drive.
