Switch SW1: Line Coding Use Switch SW1 to control the Network Line Coding options. Set these options to be the same as the Line Coding given to y ou by y our Ser vice Provider . If you are using two Model 2715s together as short range modems, set both units to HDB3.
Switch SW2: CAS Multiframe The Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) multiframe uses Timeslot 16 (TS16) to send multiframe (MF) alignment data. In CAS MF , a multi- frame is defined as 16 frames , where a frame consists of 32 64kb/s timeslots, numbered 0 to 31.
NO TE: When the data rate is set to 2.048Mb/s, then the unit is f orced into G.703 mode, and it transmits user data on all 32 times- lots. There is no framing inf or mation; theref ore, the CAS MF (SW2)and CRC-4 (SW3) s witches are ignored. In all other rate settings, the unit emplo ys G.
3.2.1 Introduction to Main Men u After entering the password, y ou may access all of the system’ s functions and parameters. The Main Menu looks lik e this: HELPFUL HINTS 1. T o mak e a selection, key the highlighted letter that corre- sponds to a menu selection.

In this case, the DTE rate is equal to the line rate at the network interf ace (NI).
Clocking : Network (def ault) Options: Network, Internal, External Network: This is the most commonly used setting when connect- ing to a carrier’ s network. In this mode, the unit recov ers the clock from the receiv ed signal and uses it to transmit data.

22 21 Remote Loop Idle (def ault) The Remote Digital Loopback (RDL) test chec ks the performance of both the local and remote Model 2715s, as well as the comm unica- tion link between them. Data from the local DTE is sent across the entire communication circuit and looped bac k to the local DTE.
23 24 Use this option to select the test pattern used to test the link. NI ST A TUS The Network interface (NI) status is sho wn in the middle of the Diagnostics/Statistics screen.
25 26 Loop Timeout The Loop Timeout setting can be set to one of the follo wing: 00:05 = five min utes 00:10 = ten minutes 00:15 = fifteen minutes 00:30 = thir ty minutes (def ault setting) 00:45 = f .
27 28 4.3 PO WER CONNECTION The Model 2715 off ers three ways to supply e xter nal power: A C power , DC po wer and interface po wer . 4.3.1 Using the A C Po wer Supply (100-240V AC) The Model 2715 uses a 5VDC , 2A universal input 100-240V AC , power supply (center pin is +5V).
