Preparation 10 Setting up the base unit Connecting the AC ada ptor and tele phone line cord Connect the telephone line cord until it clicks into the base unit a nd telephone line socket ( A ). Connect the AC adaptor cord ( B ) by pressing the plug firmly ( C ).
Preparat ion 11 Battery inst allation/ replacement 1 Press the notch of the handset cover firmly, and slide it in the direction of the arrow. L If necessary , remove the old battery . 2 Insert the battery ( A ), and press it down until it snaps into position ( B ).
Preparation 12 L T o ensure that th e battery charges properly , clean the charge contacts of the handset, base un it, and charger with a soft, dry cloth once a month. Clean more often if the unit is subject to the exposure of grease, dust, or high humidity .

T o activate this feature, see page 26. T emporary r inger off While the handset is ringing for an outside call, you can turn the ringer off temporarily by pressing { OFF } .
Making/Answering Calls 18 Handset clarity booster This feature can improve sound clarity when the handset is used in an area where there may be interference. During an outside call, this feature is turned on automatically when necessary . Y ou can also tu rn this feature on or off manually .

Answering System 29 Answering system This unit contains an answering system which can answer and record calls f or you when you are unavailable to answer the phone. Answering System 32 Remote operation Using a touch tone phone, you can call your phone number fr om outside and access the unit to listen to messages. The unit’s voice guidance prompts you to press certain dial keys to perform different operations.

Multi -unit Operat ion 38 T ransferring calls between handset s, conference call s Outside calls can be transferred between 2 handsets. 2 handset s can have a conference call with an outside par t y . 1 During an outside call, press { INTERCOM } to put the call on hold.
Useful Information 39 W all mounting Base unit 1 Insert the hooks on the wall mounting adaptor into the holes 1 and 2 on the base unit. 2 While pressing down the lever ( A ), press it in the direction of the arrow ( B ) until it is secure. 3 Tuck the telephone line cor d inside the wall mounting adaptor and connect the cor d.
