1. Be fore Use 18 At the time when this cam era is purc hased, the monitor is stowed in the camera bod y . Bring out the monitor as shown below . 1 Place your finger in the notch on the right side of t he monitor to open it. (Maximum 180 o ) 2 It can be rotated 180 o forwards.
19 1. Be fore Use There are 2 ways to operate the rear di al, ro tating left or right, and deciding by pressing. Rotatin g: Selection of items or setting of values is performed during the various settings. Pressing: Operations that are the same as [MENU/SET] button , such as determine settings, etc.

21 2 . Prep arations before Record ing Att achi ng the Lens Hood In bright sunlight or backlight, the lens hood will minimize lens flare and ghosting. The lens hood cut s off excess lighting and improves the picture quality . • Do not hold the le ns hood in a way that twis t s or bends it.

[16:9]: When connecting to a 16:9 screen TV . [4:3]: When connecting to a 4:3 screen TV . • This will work when the A V cable (opt ional) is connect ed.

55 2. Pr epara tions be fore Re cording Enter ing T ext It is possible to enter babies’ and pets’ names and the locations when recor ding. When a scr een that looks like t he one on the right is displayed, you can enter charact ers. (Only alphabetical charact ers and sym bols can b e entered.

Basic Operation T i p s for t aking good pictures Hold the camera gently with both han ds, keep yo ur arm s still at your side and st and with your fe et slightly ap art. • Do not cover the flash , the AF Assist lam p A , the microphone B (P1 6) or the s peaker with your fingers or other objects.

Ba sic Operation 58 Setting the eye sensor sensitivity and the method for switching betw een the monitor and vi ewfinder ∫ Diopter adjustment Adjust the diopter to suit your vis ion so that you c an see the v iewfinder clearly . Look at the display o n the viewfinder and rotate the diopter adjustment dial to where the screen is in focu s.

61 3. Ba sic Operation Recording Motion Pi cture This camera can record full high definition motion pictures compatible with the A VCHD format or motion pictures recorded in MP4. Audio will be recorded in stereo. 1 S tart re cording by pressing the motion picture butto n.
3. Ba sic Operation 62 Selecting the Recording Mod e Switching the mode by rot ating th e mode dial . • Rotate the mode dial slowly to s elect the desire d mode. Intell igent Auto Mod e (P75) The subjects are recorded using settings automatically selected by the camera.
63 3. Ba sic Operation Creative Video Mode (P1 18) Records a m otion picture w ith the aperture v alue and the shut ter speed you specify . In this recording mode, all the motion picture f unctions become available. For examp le, you can record motion pictures in 4K.

3. Ba sic Operation 72 Displaying/not displaying white saturated areas > [Custom] > [Highlig ht] > [ON ]/[OF F] When the Auto Review function is activated or when playing back, white saturated areas appear blinking in black an d white. This does not affect the recorded image .

4. Recor ding Modes 80 Recor ding Mode : When [iHandheld Night Shot] is set to [ON] and [ ] is detected while taking handheld night shots, pictures of the night scenery will be taken at a high burst speed and composed into a single picture.
81 4. Recor ding Modes Recor ding Mode : When [iHDR] is set to [ON] and there is, for example, strong contrast between the background and t he subject, multiple still pict ures are recor ded with differing exposures and combined to create a single still picture rich in gradation.

Recor ding Modes 84 T aking Pi ctures with Y our Favorite Set tings (Program AE Mod e) Recor ding Mode : The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the brightness of the subject. Y ou can t ake pictures with greater freedom by changing various s ettings in the [Rec] menu.
85 4. Recor ding Modes In Program AE Mode, you can change the pres et aperture value and shutter speed without changing the exposure. This is called Program Shif t.
4. Recor ding Modes 86 T aking Pictures by Specifying the Aperture/ Shutter S peed Recor ding Mode : • The eff ect s of the set apertur e value and shutter speed will not be visible on the reco rdin g screen . T o check on the recordin g screen, pleas e use [Previ ew].
87 4. Recor ding Modes When you want t o take a sharp picture of a fa st moving su bject, set with a f aster shutter speed. When you want to cr eate a trail effect, set to a slower shutter s peed. 1 Set the mod e dial to [ ]. 2 Rot ate the re ar dial to set the shutter spe ed.

W e recommen d ch ecking th e pictures on the playb ac k screen. ∫ About [B] (Bulb) If you set the shutter speed to [B], the shut ter stays open while t he shutter button is pressed fully (up to about 120 seconds).
