3 En Precautions 1. Recording Copyright —Unless it’s for personal use only, recording copyrighted ma terial is illegal withou t the permission of the copyright holder. 2. AC Fuse —The AC fuse inside the unit is not use r- serviceable. If you cannot turn on the unit, contact your Onkyo dealer.
4 En For British models Replacement and mounting of an AC plug on the power supply cord of this unit should be performed only by qualified service personnel.
5 En Amplifier Precautions Before using the power amplif ier M-5000R, be sure to read the page a bov e entitled Im portant Safety Instructions and this page of Amplifier Precautions. While using the M-5000R, the internal temp erature will fairly rise.
6 En From time to time you shoul d wipe the front and rear panels and the cabinet with a soft cloth. For hea vier dirt, dampen a soft cloth in a weak solution of mild detergent and water , wring it out dry , and wipe of f the dirt. Follo wing this, dry im mediately with a clean cloth.

The large power meters have been designed so that the indicator needles move up to the peak level quickly and then return more slowly.
13 En a SPEAKERS L/R terminals b 12V TRIGGER IN/OUT jacks Connects to the 12V trigge r input and output jacks on the other component to control the power amplifier. This enables the amplifier to turn on or go into standby state based on the standby status of the connected component.
14 En Installing the P o wer Amplifier v Install the power amplifier on a sturdy rack or shelf. Position it so th at its weight is evenly di spersed on its four legs. Do not install the power am plifier in a plac e with vibration or an unstable location .
15 En Connecti ons Connections Note • Push plugs in all the way to m ake good connections (loose connection s can cause noise or malfunctions). • T o prev e nt interference, keep audio cables away from power cords and speaker cables. Connect an A V controller or control amplif ier with XLR outputs for high-quality sound.
16 En Tip • T o reduce noise, do not tie the signal cable and po wer cable together . Wire them so that they are away from each other . Note • Never disconnect the power cord from the power amplifier while the other end is still plugged in to a wall outlet.

19 En This is an example of the bridge c onnection with the AV controller PR-SC5508. Note • When using the XLR inputs, do not connect an ything to the RCA inputs. It may damage the power amplifier. • Make sure that the XLR cable is not split. The split XLR cable may be the cause of noise.
20 En Turning On & Ba sic Operati ons Basic Operations Tip • After a certain peri od of warming up, the temperature of the power amplif ier’ s components and internal temperature are stabilized, and the sound will soften. Note • The power amplifier remembers the state when power was previously turned of f, and returns to the state.
21 En Y ou can switch the po wer output of speaker terminals between ×1 (defaul t) and ×10 (10 time s). The number of watts indicate d on the meters corresponds to the actual output level when dri ving speakers rated at 8 ohms. When dri ving speakers rated at 4 ohms, the output is actually twic e that shown on the po w er meters.
22 En Others T r oubleshooting • Make sure that the power cord is properly plugged into the wall out let ( ➔ 16 ). • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait 5 seconds or more, then plug it in again. • When the set ASb starts running, the power amplifier will automatically go standby ( ➔ 21 ).
