19 Menu operations 2 Panorama shooting lets you create a panoramic picture, using the OLYMPUS Master software from the provided CD- ROM. An Olympus xD-Picture Card (referred to as “Card” in this manual) is required for panorama sho oting.

21 Menu operations 2 • The scene selection screen displays sample images and the shooting mode to best suit the situation. • If switching to the other scene, the sett ings of each scene will return to default except a fe w settings.
22 Menu operations 2 • The factory default settings are displayed in gray ( ). Protected pictures cannot be erased by the single- frame/all-frame erase function , but they are all erased by formatting. •P r e s s X / Y to select a picture, and press O / N to set the protector [ON].

26 Menu operations 2 You can edit a picture recorded on the internal memory or on the card and save it as a new picture. This changes the image size o f a picture and saves it as a new file. Crops part of a picture and saves it as a new file. • O / N / X / Y : Adjusts the position of the pictu re.

29 Menu operations 2 All existing data, including protected pi ctures, are erased when the internal memory or the card is formatted. Make sure that you save or transfer important data to a computer befo re formatting the card. • Make sure there is no card inserted in the camera when formatting the interna l memory.
30 Menu operations 2 The pixel mapping funct ion allows the camera to check and adjust the CCD and image processing functions . It is not necessary t o operate this function frequently. Approximately once a year is recommended. Wait at least one minute after taking or viewing pictur es to al low the pixel mapping function to perfor m properly.
31 Menu operations 2 The factory default settings differ according to the region where the camera is sold. To play back camera images on a TV, set t he video output according to your TV’s video signal type. • The video signal types fo r different count ries and district s are written below.
32 Printing pi ctures 3 3 Pri nti ng pict ures Printing pictures You can print out the pictures you have taken. If you print the pictures at home, you can either connect the camera directly to the printer or you can connect the camera to a comp uter and download the pictures to the co mputer first.
33 Printing pictures 3 By connecting the camer a to a PictBridge-compatible printer, yo u can print out pictures directly. Select the pictures you want to print and the number of prints on the camera’s monitor. To find out if your printer is compatible with PictBridge, refer to the printer’s instruction manual.
34 Printing pi ctures 3 3 Press the < button. • Printing starts. • When printing is fin ished, the picture selection screen is displayed. To pr int another picture, press X / Y to select a picture, and press the < button. • When you have finishe d, disconnect the USB cable fr om the camera with the picture selection screen displayed.
35 Printing pictures 3 1 Follow the step 1 and 2 on page 33 to displa y a scene sh own ri ght, and press F . 2 Select [CUSTOM PRINT], an d press F . • When the camera turned off is co nnected to a PC with the attached USB cab le, the [USB] screen appe ars on the monitor of the camera.
36 Printing pi ctures 3 If the [PRINTPAPER] screen is not disp layed, [SIZE], [BORDERLESS] and [PICS/SHEET] are set to [STANDARD] . Press X / Y to select the picture you want to print. You can also use the zoom lever and select a picture from the index disp lay.
37 Printing pict ures 3 4 Select [PRINT], and press F . • Printing starts. • When printing is finished, the [PRINT MODE SELECT] screen is displayed. To cance l printing 5 In the [PRINT MODE SELECT] screen , press th e MENU button. • A message is displayed.

39 Printing pictures 3 Print reservation allows you to save printing data ( the number of prints and the date and time informatio n) with the pictures stored on the card. Pictures with prin t reservations can be printed using the following proce dures.
40 Printing pi ctures 3 Follow the operatio n guide to make a print reservation for a selected picture. 1 In the playback mo de, press the MENU button to display the top menu. 2 Select [PRINT ORDER] [ < ], and pr ess F . 3 Press X / Y to select the frames for prin t reservatio ns, and then pr ess O / N to set the nu mber of prints.
41 Printing pictures 3 5 Select the date and time print setting, and press F . NO The pic tures are pr inted with out the dat e and time. DATE The se lected pict ures are pr inted wit h the shoot ing date. TIME The selected pi ctures ar e printed wit h the shooting time.

43 Connecti ng the camera to a comput er 4 4 Conn ecting t he came ra to a comput er Connecting the camera to a computer Using the USB cable provided with your camera , you can connect the camera to a computer and download (transfer) the images to your computer using the OLYMPUS Master software, also provided w ith the camera.
44 Connecting the came ra to a computer 4 Before installing the OLYMPUS Master software, please confirm tha t your computer is compatible with the following system requirements. For newer operating systems, please refer to the Olympus web site as show n on the back cover of this manua l.

Pictures recorded to the int ernal memory or card can be easily erased on the camera or proc essed us ing a compu ter.
