2 About this manual Update the camera’s firmware to enable PictBrid ge on your camera. This will allow you to print pictures dire ctly from the camera by co nnecting it to a printer that supports PictBrid ge with the USB cable.

4 1 Functions changed by up dating the firmware Camera display language Since you selected ENGLISH for the camera’s display on the web site’s firmware update pa ge, only ENGLISH is displ ayed. It is not possi ble to switch to other languages (see below).
5 Connection to a computer When the USB cable is used to connec t the camera to a computer , follow the procedur e below to select PC in the camera settings. 1 Insert the marked end of the pr ovided USB cable into the USB port on your com puter as shown below.
6 Direct printing function After updat ing the camera’s fi rmware to enabl e PictBridge, pict ures can be printed directly fr om the camera. By connecting the camera dir ectly to a printer t hat supports PictBridge with the USB cab le, you can print pictures stored on the card inside th e camera without a need to use a computer.
7 2 Direct printing Using the direct printing function By connecting the camera to a Pict Bridge-compatible prin ter with the USB cable, you can print out recorded pict ures direct ly without the use of a computer. With the camera conne cted to the printer, select th e pictures you want to print and the numbe r of prints on th e camera’s monitor.
8 Connecting the camera to a printer Use the USB cable provided to co nnect the camera to a PictBr idge- compatible pri nter. 1 Turn th e printer on and plug the printer end of the USB cab le into the printer’s USB p ort.
9 Printing pic tures When the camera is connect ed to a PictBridge- compatible pri nter, t he PRINT MODE SELECT screen is disp layed on th e monit or. Use this screen to select the print mod e. You can ch oose from the followin g print modes. PRINT Prints the select ed picture.
10 Printing pictures 2 Press ac to select the paper size, the n press d . • PRINT mode : Go to Step 3. • MULTI PRINT mode: Go t o Step 4. • The available paper size settings vary depending on the type of print er. • When the PRINT PAPER screen is not displayed, SIZE, BORDERLESS and PICS/SHE ET ar e set to < STANDARD.

17 Printing pictures Trim the pictu re To se t the tr im by M ORE in PRI NT or MUL TI PRINT mode (P. 9), f ollow the procedure below. 1 Use the arrow pad an d zoom lever to select th e trimming posit ion and size. • Use the zoom lever to decide the trimming size.
18 Printing pictures • The size of the printed picture varies depending on the prin ter settings. If th e trimmed picture size is sma ll, printing magni fication increases accordingly, resulting in a printed pictur e with lower resolut ion. • For best results wit h close-up pri nts, you are recommended to use the TIFF, SHQ or HQ mo de.
19 Exiting direct printing When you have finished pr inting, disco nnect the camera from the print er. 1 In the PRINT MODE SELECT screen , select b . • The message is displayed. 2 Press the power switc h to turn th e camera off. 3 Remove the USB c able from the camera.
