4 1 Setup C onnec t t o the Comput er Y ou’ll need an IEEE-1284-compliant, parallel, bi-directional interface cable. 1. T ur n of f the computer . 2. T ur n of f the printer (pr ess and hold the Po wer/Reset button for approximately 2 to 5 seconds).
5 S etup 1 T o pr otect against damage to the printhead, ensur e that the printer has stopped its oper ation com- pletely (carriag e at its left most “home” position) befor e detac hing the pow er cord. Do not unplug the printer for long periods of time: the printhead nozzles can dry out.
6 1 Setup 2 . Open the top cov er . 3 . Make sur e the green cart ridg e lock l ev er is forward. 4 . Unpack the printhead. Be careful not to touc h the printhead nozzles when r emo ving the printhead fr om the plastic bag. Ink will g et on your hands and the printhead can become contaminated .
7 S etup 1 6 . C ar efully peel the plastic foil seal off the ink cartr idge i n the direction of the arrows pr inted on the seal. Do not for ce the ink cartr idges into the printhead! 7. Grasp the printhead, insert the black ink cartridge into position 1 and snap it f ir mly do wn into place.
8 1 Setup 10 . Push the green cart r idge lock l ever back to secure the printhead and close the co ver . 11. P ress and release the Cartridge Change/Clean button. The printer prepares the printhead for pr inting. W hen the process is complete (about 30 seconds), the Error LED and the flashing Lo w Ink indicator s tur n off.

11 S etup 1 3 . Fan a stack of paper and load it into the paper tray (max. 125 sheets 20-lb paper), with the side to be printed facing the back . T o load en velopes, banner s and other print media, see page 18, ff. 4 . Slide the paper guide lev er to touc h the r ight edge of the paper stack.
12 1 Setup Print the Demo Page W e recommend that y ou run a demo print whene ver the printer is mo ved or the ink cart ridge is r e placed. The printer does not need to be attached to a host computer to perform this demo.
13 P rinting 2 Install the P rint er D riv er/E lectronic R egistr ation Utility Before you can begin printing, you must f irst install the OKI OKIJET 2500 printer driv er in your computer . When you are installing the driv er , you will also be of fered the opportunity to install the Electr onic Registra tion utility .
14 2 P rinting 7 . Clear any components y ou do not wish to install (see note belo w regarding the v arious r egistration options av ailable to you), then click Next . The P rinter P o rt Selection dialog b ox appears. 8 . Select the port you wish to use (normally LPT1:), then click Next .
15 P r inting 2 T o run the Win 95 E lec t r onic Registration utilit y : Y ou must hav e a modem installed in y our PC in order to use Electronic Registration. If you do not ha ve a modem, you can still use the Electronic R e gistra tion utility to f ill out the re gistra tion form, then print out a cop y and f ax it or mail it in.
16 2 P rinting Check ing Printer Settings Y ou can che c k the printer settings by opening the OKI OKIJET 2500 printer setup dialog box: Scan through the setting options on the Main , Page and Advanced tabs : for mor e information, then c lick the Help b utton or press the F1 ke y .
17 P r inting 2 Canc eling or Pausing a Pr int Job Windows 3.1x 1. Click the Print Manager icon from the Main group. 2. Click the document name. • T o cancel the pr int job, c lick Delete . • T o pause the pr int job , click Pause . When you are re ad y to resume printing, click Resume .
18 2 P rinting T he OKIJET 2500 DOS Co ntrol P anel Installing the DOS Contr ol Panel T o install the DOS Contr ol P anel on your computer: 1 . Insert the DOS Control Panel disk ette supplied with the printer in your 3-1/2" f lopp y disk dri ve. 2 .
19 P r inting 2 T o load en velopes: 1 . Remo ve any print media from the paper tray . 2. Remo ve the output shelf and flip up the en v elope fe e d guide ( ➊ ).
20 2 P rinting Banners Pr inting on fan-f old banner paper can only be done using a softw ar e packa ge w hich fully suppor ts this featur e, such as Cor el Draw ® . Some softw are pack a ges may allo w you to select “banner” printing, b ut only work if y ou feed in single sheets of pa per then ta pe them to gether to form the banner .
21 M aintenanc e 3 Replacing/Sw apping the P rinthead K e ep the printhead and ink cart r idges out of the re ach of children. Do not get the ink near your eyes or mouth.
22 3 Maint enanc e 7. Close the top co ver . T o avoid prematur e failur e of the printhead, the printhead m ust be stor ed in the stora ge box w hen not installed in the printer . 8 . If you are swa pping printheads, place the printhead y ou remov ed in the storage b ox and firmly latch the co ver .
23 Maint enanc e 3 9 . P r ess and r elease the Cartridge Change/Clean button. The printer will prepare the cartridge for printing. If the carriage does not return home after the Cartr idge Change/Clean button is pr essed, try removing and reinstalling the pr inthead.
24 3 Maint enanc e 2 . Open the top cov er . 3 . Pull the green lock l e ver forward and remov e the printhead. The Low Ink lights will all flash, indicating that the printhead is r e m oved. Do not r emo ve the ink cartridg e until y ou ha ve a r eplacement car t ridge to install! 4.

The test pag e prints. 5. Click the number which corresponds to the straightest set of vertical lines on the test page.

If you have a high-capacity b lack printhead stor e d in the box , remo ve it and install it in the printer (because it is sealed, the optional high-capacity black printhead can be left in the printer during transportation).
29 Maint enanc e 3 Cleaning the P rinte r T o av oid damage to the printer: • Do not pour or spray any liquid dir ectl y on the pr inter . • Use only water to moisten the cleaning cloth: do not use deter gent, alcohol, etc . 1. P r ess and hold the P o wer/Reset b utton for 2 to 5 seconds to stop the printer’ s operation.

36 5 T r oubleshooting Clear ing Pap er Jams If the T railing Edge is Accessible If the trailing edge of the pa per is accessible in the paper tray , grasp it, then pr ess the Resume/FF button for 2 to 5 seconds. This frees up the paper so that you can pull it out.
37 T roubleshooting 5 7 . Reinstall the output shelf. 8. Fan the paper and r einstall it in the paper tr ay . 9 . Press and release the Resume/FF button to continue the print job .
38 5 T r oubleshooting Clear ing Multi-P age P ap er Jams If a c lump of 10 or more pa ges has jammed in the printer , removing the paper tray will not allow su f ficient clearance to e xtr act it. T o cor r ect suc h a paper jam: 1 . Follo w steps 1 thr ough 4 under “If the T railing Edg e is Not Accessible” (see pages 36-37).

Most high-gr ade photocopying pa pers p roduce good results. The majority of cotton bond papers also yield excellent results.

Se non hai ancora comprato il Oki 2500 è un buon momento per familiarizzare con i dati di base del prodotto. Prime consultare le pagine iniziali del manuale d’uso, che si trova al di sopra. Dovresti trovare lì i dati tecnici più importanti del Oki 2500 - in questo modo è possibile verificare se l’apparecchio soddisfa le tue esigenze. Esplorando le pagine segenti del manuali d’uso Oki 2500 imparerai tutte le caratteristiche del prodotto e le informazioni sul suo funzionamento. Le informazioni sul Oki 2500 ti aiuteranno sicuramente a prendere una decisione relativa all’acquisto.
