For general us e, the Auto settings will suffice, providing reasonab le default settings that will produce go od results for most documents.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 27 • A monitor can display very vivid colors such as int ense reds and blues and these cannot be easily pr oduced on any printer using toner or ink. Similarly , there are certain color s, (some yellows for example), that can be printe d, but cannot be displayed accurately on a monitor .
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 28 There are several se ttings found on a typical monitor: • 5000k* W armes t; yellowish lighting, typi cally used in graphics arts environmen ts. • 6500k Cooler; approximates daylig ht conditions. • 9300k Cool; the de fault sett ing for man y monitors and telev ision sets.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 29 Choosing a Color Matching Method There is no one correct way to achi eve a good match between the document displayed on your monitor an d its printed equivalent. There are many factors involved in achie ving accurate and reproducible color.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 30 RGB or CMYK If you are printing photographic images from a graphics a pplication such as Adobe Photoshop, you may be able to use Soft-Proofing to simulate the printed image on your monitor.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 31 Oki Driver Options This section describes only the OKI-supplied driver selections. Color Option 1. T o access Color Option, first select your desired printer from an application using File → Print . 2. Then open th e drop-down menu directly underneath the pr inter and select Color Op tion .
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 32 Color Control The Color Control option allows you to determine the schem e in which the printer will display colors. 1. Select the option desired . OKI Color Matching This is OKI’s prop rietary color m atching system and affects RGB data only.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 33 Monitor(6500k) Auto The default s etting that se lects the best op tions for your printer. This selection works best fo r off ice situations.

Per c e p t ua l Best choice for printing photograph s. Compresses the source gamut into the printer's gamut wh ile maintaining the overall appearance of an image.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 35 Color Simula tion This affects CMYK o utput only and is usually used in offset printer environments only. This option simulates what the ou tput will look on a printing press using the ink types SWOP, Euroscale or Japan.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 36 Separations This option affects output only, a llowing you to print all colors or separate p lates. 1. Select the option desired . Custom Gamma Adju stment You will need to create a custom gamma profiles using the SDM before selecting one here .
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 37 Black Overprin t This option prevents registration erro rs and only works for 100% black text. 1. Click on the checkbox to enable the option. Printer Halftone This option prevents the halftone of a hig h-end graphics application from printing.

However, printers with a hard disk drive will provide greater performance. This o ption is useful when printing multiple copies of large documents and wish for them to be printed in sequence.

ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 48 Proof and Print Proof and print allows printing of a single copy of a documen t for checking before printing m ultiple copies of the same document. Fir st the document is assigned a password and pr ocessed to a print file.
ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 49 1. Select Proof and Print . 2. Enter a job name o f up to 16 character s under Job Na me Setting and a four digit person al ID number (0000 to 9999). 3. Click Print to proceed with your print job. Print the document from the software application being used.

ES 1220n Macintosh OS 9.x Operation • 52 Store T o Hard Disk Store to HDD (job spoolin g) allows pr int jobs to be temporar ily stored on the hard disk before pr inting. This is good for forms, generic memos, letterhead stationery, etc. 1. Select Store to HDD .

Rendering Intent When a document is printed, a conver sion takes place from the document's color space to the printer color space. The r endering intents are essentially a set of ru les that determi ne how this color conversion tak es place.

This makes it the recommended choice fo r graphs, charts, diagra ms etc. Maps fully saturated colors in the source gamut to fully sa turated colors in the printer's gamut.
