Using the OpenGL Extensions This chapter explains how to use the OpenGL extensions supported by the NVIDIA driv er for accomplishing frame synchronization of applications .
Fr ame Synchronization Using the OpenGL Extensions Swap sync refers to the sync hronization of buffer sw aps of m ultiple application windows . By means of swap sync , applications r unning on multiple systems can sync hronize the application buffer swaps between all the systems .
Buffer S wap Criteria The criteria for buffer swaps inv olves when a window is ready to sw ap and when a g roup is ready to swap . Window Buffer S waps Any rendering surface that is not a window—.
Frame Counter The implementation provides a univ ersal counter, or frame counter , among all systems that are lock ed tog ether by sw ap g roups/bar riers. It is based on the internal synchronization signal which trig gers the buffer swap . T o obtain the cur rent frame count, call wglQueryFrameCountNV(),glxQueryFrameCountNV()().
Con fi guring Swap Barriers Y ou can bind a g roup to a bar rier . T here is a maximum n umber of barriers that can be created. With the cur rent hardware , the maximum number of bar riers is one.
wglJoinSw apGroupNV(), glxJoinSwapGroupNV() This call adds the OpenGL window with the device context hDC to the swap group speci fi ed by group. If hDC is already a member of a different g roup , it is implicitly remo ved from that group fi rst.
wglQuerySw apGroupNV(), glxQuerySw apGroupNV() This call retur ns the swap group number and bar rier number to which the device context is bound. Function B00L QuerySwapGroupNV (HDC hDC, GLuint *group, GLuint *barrier); Parameters In hDC - Device context for the frame lock card, or a window residing on the frame lock card.
wglQueryFr ameCountNV(),glxQueryFrameCount NV() Quer yFrameCountNV returns in count the cur rent frame counter for swapGroup . This call retur ns the cur rent frame count of the sw ap g roup .
