2 Using this Owner’s Manual The wirel ess phon e descri bed i n thi s manual i s approv ed for use in AMPS/CDMA networks. A number of func tions included in this ma nual are calle d Network Se rvices. They are sp ecial services pro vided by cellular se rvice providers.
3 2. Y our Phone’ s Battery When you first opened the box for your phone, you should have fo und at lea st one b attery and ch arger, o ne tr ans- ceiver, and this user g uide. For det ailed information on these items , see Access ories on page 58 .
4 New batteries must be charged for at least 24 hours before initi al use, with yo ur phon e off. A n ew bat tery s full performance is achieved only after two or three com plete charge and dischar.
5 Whe n is ch ar gin g com ple te? To all ow the b atte ry to com pletel y char ge, wait for the charge indicators to stop scrolling. At this point, your phone is considered fully charged . Ho wev er, a s ligh t i ncre ase i n cha rge ma y occu r if the phone is left co nnected to the c harger, t his is called trickle cha rge.
6 Your battery can be c harged and discharged hundre ds of times bu t it wi ll even tually w ear ou t. When the opera ting time is notice ably shorte r than norm al, and re conditioning fails to exten d its life, its time to bu y a new battery.

8 3. Sign al Strength Your phone op erates on rad io waves, and the q uality of ra- dio reception d epends entirel y on the stre ngth of the rad io signal in your area . Because the radio coverag e is maintained by a wirele ss network, th e q uality of calls o n a wireless pho ne dep ends on the stre ngth of the wireless radi o signal.

16 Earpiece V olume The two buttons on the side of your phone are your phones vol ume ke ys. The up per butto n increases a nd the lower b utton d ecreases the vo lume of your p hones ear- piece. Th ese b uttons al so co ntrol the volume for any connect ed acc essory.
17 5. Y our Person al Directory You can stor e up to 100 num bers and as soci ate d nam es in your personal directory. This gives you easy access to your most freq uently-dialed phone numbers. Stored num bers may be as many as 16 digits long. Stored name s may be up to 1 6 ch arac ters long.
