5 Chapter 1 Intr oduction The NetLINE USB 10/100 Ether net Adapter allows you to connect your USB-equipped computer to a 10Base-T Ether net or 100Base-TX network. The NetLINE USB 10/100 Ether net Adapter is fully compliant with IEEE Ether net standar ds and USB specifications.

7 Chapter 2 Installation Y our NetLINE USB 10/100 Ether net Adapter can be installed simply by: ■ Installing the har dware ■ Installing the software Connect the adapter and then allow Windows to sear ch for the necessar y driver on the farallon diskette included with your NetLINE USB 10/100 Ether net Adapter .
8 Chapter 2 I NSTALLING THE HARDWARE 1. Make sure your computer is on and r unning a cor r ectly installed version of Windows 98 or 2000. 2. Connect the adapter’s Ether net por t to a 10Mbps or 100Mbps network device using a twisted pair 10Base-T or 100Base-TX cable.
Installation 9 I NSTALLING THE SOFTWARE W INDOWS 98 1. After you connect the USB adapter , the Windows Add New Har dware Wizar d will appear 2. Select sear ch for the best driver for your device and then click Next . 3. Windows will present the possible locations for the driver .
10 Chapter 2 W INDOWS 2000 1. After you connect the USB adapter , the Update Device Driver Wizar d will begin. Click Next . 2. Inser t the Farallon diskette into your computer’s floppy disk drive. 3. When the Wizar d finds the driver , a message may appear indicating that the driver does not have the Windows 2000 digital signature.
11 Chapter 3 Operation V erify the following for NetLINE USB 10/100 Ether net Adapter operation: ■ The link LED is lit. ■ Connections are secur e, and the cor r ect cable type is being used.
