Introduction Thank you for purchasing a NET GEAR DG814 DSL Modem I nternet Gateway . With this gateway you can have secure I nternet access through its high-speed ADSL modem and share this modem with several computers. This installation guide shows you ho w to connect the gateway and configure it and your computers for secure Internet access.

Gather Conf iguration Inf ormation from Y our Internet Service Pro vider Before installing the DG814 gateway , you should have active DSL service and an Internet account with an Internet Service P rovider (ISP).
Host and Domain Names Some ISP s use a specific host or domain name — like CCA7324-A or home . If you haven ’ t been given specific information about host or domain names then use the following examples as a guide: • If your main e-mail account with your ISP is aaa@yyy .
Install the Gate way After unpacking the box and locating the configuration information, you can install the gateway . Note: Y ou do not have to power down any equipment to do this, but if you need to move your computers (perhaps to get to ports in the back), you may want to shut down the computers before moving them.
Conf igure the Computer to W ork with the Gate way and Restart the Netw ork N ext, you configure the computer to interact with the gateway . T o do this, you configure the TCP/IP settings on the computer and then r estart the network. Ho w you do this depends on your computer .
